I just found out that Emetics are things that make you vomit! Coincidence? No, Telltale chose the name for that specific reason, and the reason most people wouldn't know what it meant.

It's not too hard to figure out if you know word roots, and it is made pretty clear in the game:

Sam: Ugh... I'm gonna throw up...

Also, diuretics are drugs that make you urinate, which is why Max is talking about starting the cult of Diuretics at the end of the game.
