It is a working number. I thought at first that it was a Telltalian number to their office or somthing. I did a reverse phone number check and it turns out to be a landline in Farmingdale, NY. Is there a reason for this? If not, why 516? Does Telltale have a bone to pick with a certain someone in Farmingdale, New York?

Well I know that they check the phone messages they get. I learned that the kinda hard, kinda funny way.

It's an answering machine that says they're out of store for all the toys, not someone's personal number or something. I'm pretty sure they set up the number themselves.

God I'm tempted to call. I just need to come up with something to say ...

I've been wanting to call from the start, but I'm way too shy. I barely ever use phones, and I never do if I know it's gonna be a machine and not a real person.
Even if I had something to say, I would most likely stutter and then hang up without saying it, anyway.

There goes your chance of leaving an anonymous message, although I guess just shouting, "Yare I love you!" would've been a huge clue, too :p

Talking, has never been a problem for me, (shutting me up on the other hand ... ). Getting through a message without laughing myself silly is my main problem. I am officially the World's Worst Joke Teller; I can never get through one without suffering an attack of the Giggles.

First, I'd be more likely to yell "I want you" than "I love you".
Second, I don't know how it's pronounced *blushes*

Also, I challenge you to the title of worst joke-teller. Not only do I laugh in the middle, but sometimes I tell the end first, or the wrong end, or I totally forget how it ends.

EDIT: Oh, and they'd probably know it's me from the French accent, too, anyways.

I've been wondering too... does Yare rhyme with "hair", or with "jar"?

EDIT: Oh, and they'd probably know it's me from the French accent, too, anyways.

I hope you realise that if I had any chance of doing a convincing French accent, I'd be on the phone right now declaring that I need Yare's body like ze escargot need ze butter. :p

I left a message ages ago in my homogenised antipodean-in-Britain accent (the amount of "Aussie" in my voice now is like the volume - directly proportional to the level of excitement). That was before I knew someone would actually listen to it... :o

See, already 3 possibilities!

Haha, please do xD
Now I wonder if I should get my husband to record a message saying "Stay away from my wife!" or something xD But he'd probably laugh in the middle of it and ruin the effect.

Ganon159

What is ARG?

ARG is an Alternate Reality Game, a promotional campaign where people do stuff in the real world that seems out of place, like going to a site that tells you phone number, then getting some clue about what you're supposed to do next etc. I don't think it needs to be a part of a promotional campaign, but I think it's in that context it is mostly used.
If I'm not wrong, I think there was some kind of ARG about The Dark Knight before it was released, but I'm not completely sure about that.

If Telltale really has gone back on its word and axed porting the PS3 bonus content to PC, (which I must acknowledge has not at all been confirmed), in the future I'll wait until well after release day to decide whether to buy Telltale's games. No more buying blind for me. And making the purchase won't be an automatic "Yes" decision, either.

I don't want to get cheated ever again by stupid stuff like this.

Of course, nobody from Telltale has said anything to confirm or deny this rumor yet, so I may be overreacting to nothing at all. I'm still holding out hope that you guys will (belatedly) deliver. Come on, Telltale!

Wait, WHAT?

FFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

I REALLY hope this isn't true. If it is.... well, that's the last devoted fanboy preorder Telltale ever gets from me.

If Telltale really has gone back on its word and axed porting the PS3 bonus content to PC, in the future I'll wait until well after release day to decide whether to buy Telltale's games. No more buying blind for me. And making the purchase won't be an automatic "Yes" decision, either.

I don't want to get cheated ever again by stupid stuff like this.

I will just say that no one from Telltale said anything about cancelling, and second, from what I remember, the content is already there, it needs to be unlocked.

That's what I'd thought. I don't mind if it takes a while, I just hope it gets done at some point. I'm quite willing to forgive and forget once I get my precious precious NutriSpecs. :D

Sorry if I've offended anybody with the brusqueness of my earlier post; this particular subject tends to make me a bit touchy. ;)

They said it was delayed, but now I'm pretty sure it was cancelled.

I like all the sources you cite in presenting this "fact" to the thread. You must work for Fox News.

It's still based on nothing, while making it seem like you've had access to information that would lead you to draw that conclusion.

Extra dialogue & looking into something Future Vision told you to.

If I had to guess, the key to unlocking it should be (going by previous Telltale's games), a registry entry... I wish I could look into the inner workings of 301. ;)

I think this all depends on the stage this little "extra" is in right now.

Telltale probably has a massive manpower problem right now - "Puzzle Agent" has two days left to actually still be released "this month", and there's no release date still. Although I think they could actually manage to NOT miss their June release, it's clear that this was planned otherwise (Mind you, I'm not nagging here - I actually didn't buy "Puzzle Agent" ;) ).

Then there's that Universal bomb. Two new series, reportedly "boss hogg", enormous pressure on the programmers to deliver something absolutely new, enormous pressure on the designers to make a game that fits the customers - and I can not imagine that Universal would not put their finger on quite a lot of design issues. As the IGN article suggests, Telltale would even try to talk with main authorities from these two movies to get that fan-all-important, but nonetheless exceptionally diffuse and non-defined "valid" or "official"-stamp on these two series. That cranks up the difficulty even more.

And two episodes of "Sam & Max" are in line still - deserving much, much love and attention.

So, this "extra" might be dropped for the simple reason that it's just_too_much_work at the moment. I'm OK with that, as long as Telltale doesn't announce a "Twilight" series while still working on "Back to the Future". :D

Eek! When you put it like that, it's almost expected that Sam & Max will suffer under the huge migration in manpower.

Honestly, whether or not it's been scrapped, I just hope it's on their radar, because what would suck the most is if the PC unlock of the Nutrispecs was simply forgotten about.

Even if they decide to scrap the metagame for unlocking Nutrispecs, rest assured that at the very least, they will just unlock them for use manually at some point. They know we want it and they aren't going to just ignore it.

GuruGuru214

No, the Nutrispecs are in the game's coding already, but have to be unlocked by Telltale somehow. The intended unlock method was to be an ARG, but it doesn't necessarily have to be. If they scrap the ARG, they can still unlock them another way.

Prediction: In order to beat the season finale you must call the hotline and wait for the "please hold music" and type in a one of a kind code you get from the hotline and type it in the game. Just sayin'.

That'd be a one-way ticket to pissing off every customer they've ever had. The days are gone where game companies can rake in their millions via hotlines rather than sales (here's looking at you, Sierra).

Sierra games were practically designed from the ground up to make no sense, and to have as many stupid dead ends as they could think of. Lucasarts offering hint books and hint lines is nothing compared to Sierra designing their games to be so obtuse that no one can solve them without the hints.

Not entirely true.
Sierra based their games on textadventures (hence the parser). Including some hard challenges which took some try and error.

A dead end based on forgetting to pick an item up at the beginning of the game isn't meant to be hard, it's meant to force you to call a hint line to figure out why the part of the game you're at has no solution.

They still didn't design those games >>from the ground up to make no sense, and to have as many stupid dead ends as they could think of<<.
The formula of heaving ridiculously hard puzzles with solutions way beyond normal thinking was a common thing in textadventures.
I just remember the Hitchhikers Guide textadventure where you literally had to type in the command to wake up or to open your eyes if you don't want to die (which reminds me of the fact that you had to check every tire in Police Quest before going on your patrol or you will die).

The early Sierra games were DIRECT descenders from those textadventures. They kept the hard to solve puzzles and just added a grpahical aid (in which the character can move), while even keeping the text parser as a command input device. It's not that they decided to cash in on hotlines, because that is what everybody else did, it is just that this was how games were back then.

Believe it or not, but the programmers actually loved making games.

Because that was an exciting challenge for game creators those days. I did that, too. It looks ridiculuous after nearly two decades, yes, but it just seemed the natural way to do things back then. Actually, we were quite surprised to find that you cannot die in the Lucasarts games.
