So I was listening to my iPod on shuffle and it occurred to me that I have a lot of weird songs on there. So here's a thread about it.

My iPod has a song in Swedish on it, three skits recorded by me and my friends for a contest at an anime convention, an edited version of The Safety Dance for use in another skit we never did, and the soundtracks for the first four Sonic the Hedgehog games, The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, and the Kingdom Hearts series. And that's just what's off the top of my head.

Most of my songs on my iPod are entire albums from my favourite artists, so I know exactly what I have on my iPod, but there is only a few I have put on there that doesn't belong to an album.

Like "The Time has Come" the battle theme for Nero in DMC 4, and Taste the Blood, the battle theme for Dante in DMC 3. I have the theme song from Soul Reaver 1, and one of the battle songs from HoMM 3 and the theme song from Face/Off. I even have the theme from Tin Tin. :p

I've got some "saga MP3" which are an audio equivalent to webcomics, some comedian skits, some speeches and some language courses. I used to have some classes I had recorded but I deleted them.
This being said, they're not technically on my mp3 player because I store them on separate SD cards.

I don't ever use my MP3 players, I still use a discman on long trips if anyone remembers what that is.

But the weirdest stuff I have on Windows Media would have to be the Monkey Island soundtracks, I know that that's not all that weird, but that's as far as I've ventured outside of the rock & metal genres. I also have some jazz rock/fusion on there as well. The weirdest band name that you'll find on my computer is BB Chung King & the Buddaheads.

I don't have anything too obscure on there because, as I said, I mostly stick to rock & metal.

I have this song called "Puppets Gonna F*&% You Up" (Uncensored) on there. It's weird. And I have over 500 songs by They Might Be Giants, 6 of which I listen to.

Whiskey in the Jar (like the story) and I dissapear (great refrain) because i'm no Metal fan and not so much into Metallica as well but i really like these ones, so it feels kind of strange to me which again adds to the atmosphere i do get out of the songs.

Beside of this i have a lot of not this usual sfx on my iPod but this stuff sounds rather normal to me. :O) I also made an audio walkthrough with The DIG, which is brilliant listening to.

'Whiskey in the Jar' is actually a traditional song that's been interpreted by several artists. I have the Thin Lizzy version on my computer - not as heavy as Metallica's version.

So, you actually like listening to your own voice?

Glad you like it, it is quite enjoyable. I wonder if they were actually stoned when they recorded it. That's probably quite a large possibility :D.

I know you've only just heard the Thin Lizzy version, but which version do you prefer? Metallica's or Thin Lizzy's?

I hate both those covers. They're not so bad in themselves, but for some reason i always hated the guitar intro thingie, which seems to pop up in every cover since these
The version i discovered the song with and still love is this one :

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8eOIU9ekSMk

As far as the topic subject, i don't have a mp3 player, but just yesterday i discovered a country song sung by a kid (Named Troy Hess, aparently) and called "please don't go topless, mother".
There's also the whole album of "lounge" covers of the ramones and misfits...
Oh, and the star wars christmas album... And Hulk Hogan's album (an awful mix of bad hard rock and crappy-so-called rap)
I just love that kind of weird and lame crap :D

No, I actually wanted to say thanks. It's a great album, I've listened to it quite a few times now and I've really enjoyed it. "Radio Nowhere" is still my favourite Springsteen song, but the rest of the songs from the album are great as well (particularly "Last to Die"). It was a good recommendation.

The strangest stuff on my iPod would be non-MP3, like all the work files I dumped on there when I didn't have a USB stick handy. Song-wise, it's probably the dozen different versions of Pachelbel's Canon, from when I had to choose the best one for a funeral. I can't actually listen to any of them.

I'd say the strangest would be my System of a Down albums... because, well, they're a strange band.

I also have two separate versions of the Avatar soundtrack on there: The normal 1CD, and a more expansive 3CD that I don't think is actually in stores. There's a full 5CD version floating around as well, but I can't find a good copy anywhere.

I got a song called "Blue Hawaii" from this dude (http://www.youtube.com/user/MiuraErisa), which I would link to but he's taken it down completely after several re-uploads for some reason. You can get the general idea from listening to any of his songs though. My friends and I kind of stumbled on to this guy one day randomly and his strange music videos just became an inside joke with us. "Blue Hawaii" was our favorite because the song was strangely catchy and the video was the most hilariously weird out of all of them.

Also Birthday Cake (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pjfEZEKVdN8). Thanks, Jet Set Radio Future!

umm... I have the full soundtrack (not just the OST) to Twilight Princess and Tales of Symphonia, as well as the movie (not soundtrack) of Star Trek 4 on my Sansa Fuze, but I see none of these as odd, especially compared to other posts people have made on here.

It's not really anyone thing, it's the assortment. Random can cause a real strange jump. Never seen anyone more freaked out then when your mp3 player goes from Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog to a DDR soundtrack to Matson Jones then to Praxis. The transition from a musical soundtrack to a techno video game soundtrack to a classical/punk fusion band to an experimental rock band messes with me and I'm used to it but it made it so that other people I worked with didn't want to ride in my car. Or maybe it is weird and I just don't think it is.

1. New years resolutions
2. A musical mix of George Bush saying "duty"
3. A musical arrangement of a KFC training video
4. An angry text message set to music.
5. A mashup of The Beatles "When I'm 64" and Chicago's "25 to 64"

Bonus points to anyone who can figure out the connection between all 5 items.

Mr. Bungle, Fantomas, Peeping Tom....

Mike Patton is a musical genius... but lets just say that his music outside of Faith No More isn't exactly what you would call radio friendly.

Nuclear Rabbit (http://www.myspace.com/nuclearrabbitofficial).

Who ripped off Mr. Bungle's sound.... They are decent enough ripoff though.

Anything by Tom Lehrer (By which I mean any of his songs)

That's either gotta be Gantz Graf (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AyJfHU4GoOQ&hd=1) by Autechre, or maybe "Kulma" by Pan Sonic...

I'm probably overlooking things here (and I personally don't consider any of the above as weird), but with nearly 20000 tracks on my MP3 player that just happens... :D
