Will there be a Curse of Monkey Island Special edition?

I'd say it's much too early to say. Let's at least get LeChuck's Revenge out of the way first before we start demanding a CoMI remake!

I don't think there will be. The cartoony like graphics are among most peoples favourites and I don't think Lucasarts will be able to improve very much. Also, CoMI already has voice overs so there's not much to do in that department either. Just my opinion though.

Im with you on that.
Plus most people only got the se for the new voice overs wich the original curse already have.
(and while we are on the topic an escape special edition where the gameplay is similar to tales would be pefect.)

Nahhh, it doesn't really need one the same way the first two do, throw in some special features like commentary and that by all means and call it a special edition, but I don't wanna see any tinkering with the art or sound at all

there should be a deluxe version like add on with the lost cutscenes (if they can) and maybe commentery

Well it already has great graphics that hold up well and excellent voice acting. I'd say the only thing to add would be an audio commentary feature.

Seems unnecessary. I mean, what would you change? Voice acting is already there, and there's no reason to change the graphics.

The only reason why the first two games lend themselves to a remake-special edition is because voice acting is added and many people prefer a non-pixellated version.

What seems far more likely to me is either an "alternate universe" sequel, or a 2.5 in-between story that would be sure to feel forced. Or just dropping the franchise altogether for the special editions, and moving on to Maniac Mansion and Indiana Jones or something.

I think high resolution versions of the artwork (if such things exist) as well as adding widescreen support (with 4:3 letterboxing for non-scrolling scenes) would be good updates.

No Sam & Max HTR Special Edition - All they'd need to to is update the graphics and their done (as long as they don't look like flash animations it should be cool?)

Or a telltale edition. With the telltale graphics and voices.

I would say, just a higher res hd version with maybe some commentary would be nice, without actually changing anything.

No need for a remake for a real special edition, but some improvements here and there is always welcome.

Commentaries sounds like a good idea, sounds and music crisp and clear, picture format a bit up to handle today's monitors with widescreen. And last but not least make it compatible with windows vista/7, so no need for ScummVM and other programs to run it.

I wouldn't mind hearing some different reactions from Guybrush when you try some random combinations instead of him just saying "hmmmm... no". That would be one nice addition. I think that LucasArts could also throw a few more objects in there. Not selectable or interactive objects, just background object to liven things up a little more. I guess other interactive objects would be good as well, just none that you can pick up.

I've also mentioned in another thread on this subject that if LucasArts are to make a Curse of Monkey Island Special Edition, then they should throw in a few more easter eggs similar to the existing ones (tree roots in crypt, drowned Guybrush from SoMI, and the Dig spider in Stan's crypt).

Craig Derrick mentioned in one of his interviews that the later "talkie" games probably wouldn't be candidates for the "Special Edition" brand, since they already feature some of the key selling points of that brand. They'll likely get more straightforward rereleases instead. I would love if they did some retracing to get CoMI into HD, but I wouldn't count on it.

Hey a straightforward re-release would be fine with me, but some of the cut-scenes are a little pixelated. And widescreen would be nice. But still, would take a normal re-release as well.

I dont think theres a need to remake it since its allready cartoony and voiced but I'd like to see MI3 on XboxLive after MI2SE

And I'd like a special 'memory erasing tool' to remove 'Monkey Island 4' from my mind as well as history itself.. or get remade by telltale.

I asked Dom about this and he confirmed that he at least recorded his lines for this cutscene, but didn't record any for Plank of Love.
