maybe it was combining inventory items

My guesses, progressively less likely:

Max giving hints that are progressively more direct.
A direct hint system ala Bone.
Multiple verbs, look at, talk to, walk to, etc.
"Cooking Without Looking" being much more "follow-the-recipe puzzley."
Driving mini-game using keyboard (actually... probably not since it's more gun, less driving this time around, unless they changed the whole puzzle)
Multiple difficulty level (Very unlikely that they could make these changes that fast)

yeah it would have to be something small if they could change it then change it back

It was obviously functionality being added to the "Warp Speed" option.

:p

Probably the walk fast with a double click idea.

Yeah, I could totally see Dave against that!

Or not.

Ok, re-reading the interview, it looks like the feature has something to do with helping players out with the difficulty level.

The main thing is that we're juggling things like the level of difficulty of puzzles and how much help we give the players, to provide the best all-around experience for the whole audience.

don't even mention the d word :D :D

maybe it was the right click to look at objects?

I'm almost sure I came across the words 'upswing,' 'thrombosis,' and 'rinkydink halo', but I can't remember where I found them. I don't think I even saw 'loveable but essentially useless lump of fur and icky stuffing materials.'
hints, anyone?

Don't know about upswing, but here are some very, very vague hints:

thrombosis, rinkydink halo:
A few of the incorrect disguises in Midtown Cowboys.

Loveable but essentially useless lump of fur and icky stuffing material
Speak to Max in one of the 10 possible locations

I quite liked the addition of the right click on inventory items to get the description.
