I own a Wii, and i really like the way you can purchase games online and fill in the channel slots and play the old games.
It would be a really neat Idea for Sam & Max too to have a Sam & Max channel and get an overview of the seasons and their episodes. The Wii remote is good to use as a mouse and this way I can sit on the couch and enjoy Sam and Max on my TV! The pricing of the episodes is at the same level as the virtual console games.
Just would be really neat to make it available on the TV :-)

I've heard someone starting rumors that this could happen but we will just have to wait and see.

A while ago, Telltale said something to the effect that Nintendo has expressed interest in them making Sam & Max for the Wii. Of course, right now they don't have the time to even start thinking about that, but we'll see after season 1 is finished...
Ah, I found the link. This blog links to an older blog and some other stuff detailing exactly what the deal is with Telltale and Wii.

You're absolutely correct sir. They're obviously hiring a Wii programmer so they can put content on XBLA. :D
Seriously, this is great news. Of course, the real question is whether he's going to be working on Sam and Max, or something else entirely...

Nice find!
The only thing I'm worried about is the very limited disk space on the Wii. Even the 70mb that the episodes take seem like quite a lot for it.

Maybe Telltale are planning to release their games on Wii discs? Otherwise, Nintendo need to come up with a way to use SD cards to play downloaded games from, or to connect an external hard drive to the Wii - after all, the USB ports are already there, so how hard could that be?
As far as I know you can already store downloadable games on DS cards, but they're still tied to your Wii's system ID so you can't play them elsewhere.

The games can't be played off the card either, meaning once you run out of Wii memory you have to start deleting games and redownloading them later and retrieving the game you want off of whatever SD card you saved it on. NES roms are tiny in size but once you start talking about games that are even 50 megs it seems to me that would cause a problem.

Yes, currently you can't play anything from SD-cards. Hopefully that will eventually change, though.
Ah okay. Boo. I imagine once they start unleashing downloadable software that's over a few megs, that sort of thing will come under heavy consideration. At least I hope so :)

I don't know too much about it, but SD-cards aren't meant for the sort of quick access that "play a game off of them" would require. They're more for backing up files.
But support for USB hard drives would be very nice...
In the meantime, I want somebody to make a flash Same & Max game that I can play through the Opera Browser on the Wii. Come on DO IT :p

I'd love this idea, but I don't have a Wii, so the excitement of the prospect is lost on me lol

Gah! - I still can't read posts about the Wii without thinking in double entendre's... and wanting to reply 'you should see a doctor about that'
why God why?!

I think this would be an amzing idea. I have a similar hope that they would add a new group to the the wii shop channel that said. Point and click. Playing the original Lucasarts games or even the the original Sierra games on the wii would be pretty cool. Something I'm going to look into is SCUMMVM DS, which looks pretty cool. http://scummvm.drunkencoders.com/

I wish there was some way to run some ScummVM games through flash through the web browser, but that seems unlikely.

Perhaps not unlikely. With the imminent release of the Flash 9 authoring tools, someone may find a way to do this thanks to the abilities and performance of Actionscript 3. A C64 emulator has already been created entirely in Flash.
