View Full Version : Back to the Future facebook game

Has anyone else notice that if you view the tutuorial in the back to the future facebook game you can see more concept art!
When it talks about high scores it quickly scrolls by a concept art mugshot for George, Biff, and a character named "Kid Tannen" who is dressed up in a mobster suit.
Could this be a spoiler for the game or an easter egg? Can't wait!
I've got mine pre ordered already!
Me and my wife played through Puzzle Agent in one night and we loved it! :)

All I have to say is that it got me to break my solemn vow to NEVER use a Facebook game application.

So addictive though. I'm a sucker for those kinds of puzzlers. >=

I have been playing that game like crazy but never noticed it.
Here I took a screenshot.
Maybe spoilers!!!!!

EDIT: Same here. I also promised myself to never use an app. But it's great. You get to hear the theme loop epicly. Never gets dull...lol. And there are some of the recorded lines in it.
AJ sounds exactly like Marty. Those lines further prove it.

Since we'll supposedly be travelling to the 30s, I'm going to take a guess that Kid Tannen is a gangster who's supposed to be Biff's father.

Let's hope it's just because of the size.

George looks HORRIBLE.
Let's hope it's just because of the size.I highly doubt they were able to get Crispin Glover's likeness rights. That's probably as close as they were able to get.
Strayth
11/16/2010, 12:25 pm
Well, I think we could all tolerate a George "lookalike", especially with the cartoony graphics.
But "not looking like Crispin" =/= Being hideous .
Biff looks epic (and match Wilson's likeness too). George looks beyond horrible (the fact that he has nothing to do with Crispin is another matter).
The Tingler
11/16/2010, 04:39 pm
To be fair, Crispin Glover didn't even allow his likeness to be in Parts 2 or 3 of the BTTF trilogy, so it was unlikely the game would feature him properly.
RAnthonyMahan
11/16/2010, 06:46 pm
George was of virtually no importance in the sequels, anyway. I get the feeling we won't be seeing too much of him here.
Any chance we can get a larger version of George, Biff, and Kid Tannen, by the way?
Well... those portraits are really small, so... i can't say if George looks horrible or not

Also in the game, after you get enough Jewels, you hit 88MPH. and travel to HilValley's ClockToer, one Spoiler I think I found is if you should see the CourtHouse with a Science Fair Banner across. look at the top right of the screen once you start the level.. it will say "Hill Valley 1931" so I guess we get to see Young Doc after all.

No actually, they just didn't ask him. Thus the famous problem. His likeness was featured in the sequels. You can also SEE Crispin in the movie in a few scenes.
And, it's obvious George had no importance (though he is kinda important in part 2 even if we don't really see him much) in the sequels only because they had trouble with the actor.
He is crucial to BTTF 1 ... I would be really upset if he has no importance in the game.
Especially if we get way too much Lorraine and Biff.

I do hope we see lots of new Tannens, though.
I'm with Origami here. Variatio delectat. ;)
Even Gale & Zemeckis felt the need to introduce a secondary villain - Needles - because the Tannens were just overdone. If they'll introduce one (1) Tannen that is new to us (Kid Tannen) in the entire game, and work with young Biff, middle-aged Biff and old Biff for the rest of the game, things will be fine.
On a sidenote, if Telltale chose to not actually make Biff the villain, but indeed let '85 Biff do some good and help out a little in a crucial moment, would you necessarily consider that "not in the spirit of the BTTF movies"? ;)

@Vaina
Yeah but the games don't even have to be brinked with Tannens. We can have 1985 Tannen and max 3
new alterations of Biff with Kid being one.
Other problems could be the prevention of paradoxes. Or a less favourable future caused by mistakes in a previous ep that has to be prevented.

Hey guys, one quick Question in the FB game, when when at times while playing, or when you are just about to him 88 MPH the game goes extremely slow? also the Speedomete dows down wayr to fast at times..but still I love this game lots!

I'm sure it wasn't actually developed by Telltale but this is something they should keep in mind for all future titles in which the ability to distinguish between certain colors will be required to succeed in the game.
Vainamoinen
12/03/2010, 07:19 am
Now, I'm not color blind, but my recent book on the subject of color (James Gurney's "Color and Light") states that about 10% of all males are color blind some way or another. Quite a number!! I'm just throwing this in to back up your claim - with these numbers, the game should really have an option with symbols instead of colors. ;)

2x Multiplier Molecules
Bigger time bonus when you hit 88mph!

So, what items did you guys get? So far I unlocked:
- Save the Clocktower Flyer ("This flyer has Jennifer's number written on it! Oh, and without it I probably would have been stuck in 1955 forever.")
- Grays Sports Almanac ("Every sports result of the last 30 years - think of the possibilities! Assuming it doesn't fall into the wrong hands and open up a nightmarish alternate timeline.")
- A Match Made in Space ("It's my dad's first novel - there's something familiar about that alien on the cover...")
- New 4x4 keys ("It's the keys to the car I dreamed of owning one day - although that was before I knew about the time-travelling Delorean.")
- Hill Valley Clock Photo ("Me and Doc look pretty good in this photo! Weird that we were both around when the town clock first started AND when it stopped.")
These are not all the items you can unlock, but I don't have the time to unlock more right now. Anyone who unlocked more items, or someone who has any idea how many there are?
I'm also wondering if the quotes are pulled from the game or made up for this flashgame...

Tip: When you are changing "rounds" (or whatever you call them) and the game is still making matches, you'll see it doesn't count towards the speed score. So don't go making matches while this is happening, because you'll get the points, but speed will remain at 0. Wait for it to stop, then go for it! :P

No cheats, man. You're just gonna have to accept it. If you're good at finding matches, it's very easy to keep the game going for a good, long time. The game gives you 15 seconds back whenever you fill the Flux Capacitor, and you can do that in well under 15 seconds if you're good, leading to virtually infinite time until you screw up once or twice.
And because all new points are multiplied by your current multiplier, the score starts getting epically huge as the game goes on, especially since there seems to be no limit to how high the multiplier can climb. I had assumed it would max out at x99, but it didn't.

01/08/2011, 06:06 am
I'd take that bet, but I'm not entirely sure how to prove it to someone as skeptical as you. Best I can think of is to record the gameplay, but I don't know of any screen recorders that don't cause minor graphical lag (although slowdown and lag aren't the same thing. In fact, lag makes the game harder.)
I'm currently experimenting with HyperCam 2, which is the best program I've found so far, but to date have only achieved a recorded score of 103,898,700. It's just shy of 15 minutes of atom-swapping action, and probably even more boring to watch than it was to play. If I get in a game which nears my high score, it's bound to run about 20 minutes or maybe more, and to post that on YouTube or similar, I'd have to split it into at least two separate videos.
Oh, and another thing. If you think my score is ridiculous you should see the scores other people on Facebook are claiming to have earned. Makes my high score look tiny by comparison. Difference between you and me is I have no reason to doubt their legitimacy, because the way the game is set up, there's literally no limitation to how high you can score thanks to the never-ending multipliers and continuous time bar refills, as long as you can plan ahead a couple of moves and don't get too fatigued to find matches.

I'm not sure if anyone else has experienced this issue before, but I thought I should bring it up in case a bug fix is needed.
I received a score of 25,969,050 in Heavy Mode (pic attached). However, the game did not conclude correctly by recapping the score, awarding prizes, and updating the scoreboard. Up until this point, I had only broken into the 3,000,000 range.
The menu button remains functional, and the Hint button moves when clicked, but does nothing. I've tried right-clicking the game area to refresh the flash, but trying to work with the flash menu in this manner results in locking the browser from further manipulation with the mouse (though, minimizing and re-maximizing the browser corrects this).
Ultimately, I did a Menu>Restart the Game. This did nothing to salvage the score and simply restarted the game.
