View Full Version : Most hilarious moments in Ep3 *Spoilers* (of course)

Just rushed through it :).

What were the most hilarious moments in your opinion?

I loved the "rubber chicken with a pulley in the middle", won't you guy get sued by Ron Gilbert or something :)?

Another thing was the Whack-a-Rat thingy in the Casino, please more of these reference-jokes.

BTW, is the Tiger Clock in Sybil's office just coincidence or was it inspired by some other feline-shaped clock in a very old, but related game?

So what were you're best moments with Ep3?

I'm not finished yet (still have to "rub out" Sybil), but so far, my favorite parts are:

The disturbing bear heads song
Bosco and Sam's "Do you have any..." argument
Bosco's analysis of someone's secret association determined solely by what section of the paper they were reading.

Wasn't too laugh out loud funny, but it was nice to see Bosco's reaction when you shot up his store.

the mobsters threat to turn sam into a screendoor

the banter about myra

the answering machine messages

the phone conversation

shoot the b-tads part 2 camera before going to the casino

max's explination of why he cannot be hypnotised

how the toy mafia makes smoking fun

trying to bribe the guard (even after winning more money)

the conversation about bad buisness practices

the car falling from the sky

My personal favourite went something like:
Sam: "We should head for the casino, Max."
Max: "Oh good, I've been looking for something to do since I found out that Sudoku didn't involve ritual suicide."

Oh, and "I wonder if I can get buried in that desk...does that sound wierd?"
Odd, but amusing.

I felt like the password guesses were references to a lot of things, but didn't really get them.
Of the ones I remember:
Swordfish was possibly a reference to the movie Swordfish?
Rosebud is a reference to Citizen Kain.
Bring me the head of Alfredo Garcia is a movie.
...and I can't remember the others.

i also like max's "dont do that im tickleish" and "i have to pee" lines

1. I loved the way that scene is animated!!

2. Yeah, that was funny, but also kind of sad.

3. How do you find that joke?

4. Hmm, didn't think about that. TIME FOR A REPLAY!!

5. I don't remember stumbling upon that one. What room is it in?

6. That joke was funnier in Hit the Road given where they left the car.

Yep answering machine messages were good.. There was another great exchange when sam and max were talking amongst themselves when they first enter the casino and the guy who greets you said if I had holes in the ears of this teddy bear head I could hear exactly what you were secretly saying in front of me..I'm sure I messed that up but you know the joke..

The Marx Brothers, in Horse Feathers.

You can read more about it here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swordfish_%28password%29) (and there's another Sam & Max reference, interestingly enough!)

P.S. For the record, I did know about it before I looked it up on Wikipedia! I just had to be sure...

Yeah, that has to be my favourite line as well. Other funny bits were the answering machine messages, the Midtown Cowboys rerun (and Max's reaction to it, in a reference to the whole voice actor debate, I think), shooting out the window, and that whole "Do you have any..." sequence... and Bosco was great again, with the whole French revolutionary theme going on... mon-sewer. :D

Citizen Kane definitely spawned those. General Fettgesicht saying that before dying was the most direct reference to the film.

The Sam/Bosco "Do you have any..."-conversation was the funniest. Other than that:

Sam: "Are you okay, little buddy?"
Max: "I can't hear you... I'm dead."

Sam: "I'm glad that you're not dead, Max."
Max: "Me too. If being dead is as boring as pretending to be, I think I'll never do it."

And when Sam picks up the screw-driver in the factory, he says "Anybody got a screw loose?" and Max (still lying on the ground, playing dead) just lifts his head and gives Sam a thumbs-up for that silly joke... priceless! (and turning the silly joke into a hilarious one)

I'm surprised more people didn't like the disturbing bear heads songs. They are, as far as I'm concerned, the apex of comedy in Sam and Max games, including the original. In fact, it's debatable if I've seen something funnier in anything else.

As much as I loved the song, I felt it was too short. It was still very nice to hear, but I would like to have had an extra verse and a very cheesy closing line to make it a full song, similar to More Than Jerks.

the banter about myra

the car falling from the sky

I completely missed all that!! I expect these should go in the "play it again" thread, but I must know where these are in the game.

2. Look at the "aquarium" in the office.
3. Pick up the card... ;)
4. Look at the newspaper to the left.

I thought the best bits were all the fancy animations. They definitely seem improved from the first two episodes and it really makes a difference.

Yeah, especially during Max's Death Scene. Even on Harry, who has very little facial animation to begin with, the subtle quirks of the eyebrow and lip cornors really added to the emotion they were suppose to have.

Kind of makes me want the team to go back to the first two episodes and fix up some areas, you know? Like when Sam & Max meet Brady Culture for the first time. Talk about dead animation.

If you want to know how that happened, play episode 1 again. You'll find out right away :D.

Hmm, yeah. I forgot about that. Shame on me :D

I have to agree with the previous assessment that the puzzles sometimes seem "too obvious" and as a result you end up missing out on a lot of funny stuff because you solve most of the puzzles on the first try.
To really get the most out of these episodes, you pretty much just have to go around using everything on everyone else first, before you go and advance the story. It's obvious that they've put a lot of thought into what should happen if you use an item on the "wrong" person, but almost paradoxically, that's something you have to do on purpose.

I found a funny joke. See if you can find where this is.

Sam: "Maybe we should turn him into the proper authorities."
Max: "Isn't that us?"
Sam: "I said 'proper.'"
Max: "Oh, right..."

I would agree--but I feel that, if it were a really hard puzzle that I was stuck on for so long that I ended up having to resort to use everything on everything, I would probably not be in the right "mood" to appreciate whatever triggered joke occurs when I incorrectly used the items--I would probably be frustrated or anxious to get through whatever puzzle I was stuck on.

I loved the intro!

Especially the last two lines:

Sam: "..and he's about to introduce mandatory gun registration.."

Max: "..get the keys!"

I actually laughed out loud the first time I watched it!!

Even for the wrong episode, that was still a big bump!
