View Full Version : Telltale UK meetup?

GeorgeC
02/03/2011, 12:15 pm
The idea struck me:
How about a telltale games UK meetup? Various members of the forum meet up some place and go about a day with silly antics and jolly japes etc etc!

If we could get the names of people willing to do it, we could find a convenient half way point for all attendees so no excessive travelling is required! (unless you like that kind of thing)

Possible Activities
Alton Towers
Get Blindingly Drunk
Go Karting
Bowling
Meet up in the middle of the Irish Sea
Road trip to America to witness the greatness of TomPravetz

You know, thats not actually a bad idea...

But I live in some sort of noplace (rural wiltshire) so i'll undoubtedly have to travel pretty far to go wherever the meet is.

Put me down as a "maybe"

JedExodus

Yeah i'd be game for it. Can't guarantee anything yet obv, but I like the idea certainly :)

But... Ireland isn't part of the UK! :p
Just kidding. I'm sure you'd be welcome. Unless the halfway point ends up in the middle of the sea... :p

That sir, is a whole can of worms right there.

But i'd agree with you ;)

I'd say we all get violently drunk, but that's not really fair on the young 'uns and those who don't imbine the poison.

We could go to Alton Towers or something! :p

I'm REALLY shy myself and I'm the one organizing it! Once you get going and meet the new faces you'll more than likely get on like a house on fire and all will be good :D

I don't think I've been active here long enough to have enough courage to do something like this.

I've not been active very long my self, it's no excuse - but being lazy is a fair excuse haha.

I'd say we all get violently drunk, but that's not really fair on the young 'uns and those who don't imbine the poison.

It's a good idea, and surely the majority of people up for doing this would be at least 18? But to keep things sensible the alton towers idea is a possibility :P

To all the maybes, watch this space as I'm sure lots of great ideas will evolve

Ideally it would take place during the summer, and isn't going to be longer than a day I'm guessing, surely you'd have a day free? Fair point about the money though, here is a handy chart with all the prices

I'm shy as well, so I'm sure it'll be alright. Plus, you could always take a friend along. That's what I might do if we all decide to meet up. Partly to cover petrol costs, and partly because deep down, I hate you all! :p

Thats's two people saying they are too lazy now as an excuse :( I'm really lazy myself, I drive to the store and its a 2 minute walk away as an example!

And I've no idea about aspergers syndrome, but most people are nervous around new people, once you get talking it's all fun and games

I'd come, but I hate Alton Towers. Maybe one of these places (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bollocks_to_Alton_Towers) would be better? And more in the spirit of Telltale. Well, Sam and Max Hit The Road. Which was LucasArts. But still.

I vote Avebury! It's like, 5 minutes down the road from me!

If alton towers isn't to everyones tastes, how about a tamer theme park, like Chessington, or a smaller park like Thorpe Park? They'll probably be closer to more people (They're nearish London, I think)

I can't say I'm a fan of theme parks in general really, especially ones which are fairly expensive and not easily accessible via public transport. There's Memorabilia (http://www.memorabilia.co.uk/) in Birmingham and London. It was always fun when it was in Glasgow. UNTIL IT STOPPED COMING TO GLASGOW. Well FINE then Memorabilia, you stay south of the border and I'll just go to the model railway exhibition instead of spending vast amounts of money on 80s toys!

ETA: Actually Memorabilia wouldn't be much good, since the Birmingham shows are in March and November, and the London one is in October.

I've just had a thought. As awesome as getting drunk would be, I would imagine it would be impractical for alot of people (myself included!) Due to transport. Afterall, drink/driving is a bad idea, and public transport has the right to deny service to drunken people. If we were to do something like that, we woud have to factor in a hotel or something.

I think we all got distracted by stuff. Also, something like this needs someone to be a ringleader who'd pick a place, arrange a hotel and research travel information, and no-one really stood up to do that.

I mean, if we could agree on a time and place, that'd be a start. We could all at least look into it on our ends.

So I'll kick off the suggestions again with the Doctor Who Exhibition in London. Maybe we could go on a group trip of that along with other London tourist crap, maybe catch a film or (god-help us if it's not Spamalot) a show. Plenty of hotels around London if we want to get drunk, and it's easily reachable by public transport.

Just a thought, since the DWE is something I'd quite like to see!

ooh, i'd love to see the first half of spamalot! I ended up missing the first part due to having a job interview which overrun, and then getting lost in Bath. Also, the bus didn't turn up (although that only affected my friends who I was going with. We ended up all arriving at the same time, just as the train was leaving the station.).

But My summer is kind of busy. I've college until July, I'm looking after the house then whilst my mum goes away, i've got another trip that month to London and I'm going on holiday in August. So, i'll stay out of the date suggestions, and maybe just join if I can make it (although July 2nd would be nice, as that is when i'm going to London anyway!)

Lessee here..., London attractions: Science Museum (free, with some paid for stuff like imax and simulators), London Dungeons(£22, River trip+London eye £19, Sea-life £10 (can all be done on a combi ticket) Doctor Who Experience (It's £5 entry tomorrow, £18 otherwise), Lion King (the stage show).

Prices are from what I can remember from googling them last night to organise my other London trip.
