*But not for THAT reason. This is not "Diet coke with more chems", this is "Diet coke with just another sweetener". Coca-Cola found out that the "Coca-Cola light/ Diet coke" brand is used mostly by the female demographic, so they essentially invented the same thing for men, the taste of the stuff being of absolutely secondary importance. It shows us how the marketing world around us really works. If you look at the ads, you get a pretty clear picture.

Hah, we got the wooden spoon too. Only very occasionally, but by golly on those occasions we deserved it. Even just the rattle of the kitchen drawer being forcefully whipped open was enough to strike fear into our naughty little hearts. :p

(actually, I'm not sure how easy it is to get gun licenses in other countries, but I would hope it's not too much of a simple process).

In the state of Georgia, US; licenses are not required for firearm ownership - only a background check. Even I think this is ludicrous.

Also, why would gay marriage require further thought? Shouldn't they have just as much right to be trapped in a years' long, loveless... I mean, joyous and happy commitment like the rest of us?

Actually, you're most probably right here. It's not going to affect me directly, and all it's probably going to do is simply improve the lives of those who do happen to be gay. Yeah, count me as a 'yay' or a 'meh'.

First off, diet soda doesn't contain high fructose corn syrup. Period. Second of all, it's really not all that different from sugar. It's just from corn. Still prefer sugar over corn syrup if possible though.

I agree. And this thread actually sparks some pretty good discussion, unlike forum games. Forum games are just for being dumb and mucking around in, this thread is actually interesting and civilized, and it covers some pretty important/big topics.

I don't think this deserves to be relegated to forum games any more than the 'Whatever's on your mind thread' or the rating threads.

While the thread has some potential for discussion, it was likely moved to forum games because in two and a half pages, there's only been a handful of posts that consisted of anything more than one word responses to each given subject. In order for it to be discussion, people actually need to discuss. Nothing wrong with that if that's the point of the thread, but if you're looking for a constructive discussion thread, this hasn't been it so far.

I love that comic. I'm not sure if the message is that clear, though. With the words of a German songwriter: "We could well heal hunger, but we'd have to share a little better". But famine doesn't seem to be the point the comic wants to make - it's resources in general. But a martian exodus is a fantasy that doesn't even try to approach the problem.

My point is that we, as humans, don't have it in us to share. That's why Communism fails when you try to apply it in real life. Therefore, my favored solution is to get people to stop having so many children that they can't take care of (especially in dangerously impoverished regions) and begin mining other planets for their resources.

Yay. My boyfriend all through high school and university did a lot of amateur musicals. Not only did I have to see the performances, I had to listen to him singing all the songs in the car as well. Good thing I already didn't mind musicals, or I would've had to learn to like them pretty fast. :p

Also, the Priscilla: Queen of the Desert musical is brilliant. Saw it in London a few months ago and couldn't stop laughing.
