View Full Version : boring threads?

anyone else seem to notice that threads on this forum have gotten a lot more dull then a few months ago? Most threads now just seem to be about the same thing and are usually about non telltale related news. Anyone else agree?

i have to agree with you on this. People take much longer to respond to messages then before.

If things really are getting boring around here, it's because of attitudes like this. The derailment is half the fun!*

*Unless it's one of those shouting match derailments. Then not so much.

Guru-Dashing derailments = not fun
Guru-Tom (or just about Anyone-Tom) derailments = fun.

(People like to bicker/pick on/abuse/team up against me.)

I mean not to offend. Merely, on a thread about the threads, you need to be brought up. I don't mean that your threads are boring, they usually end up pretty fun. You just have a lot of them. (And personal lives should, in my opinion, remain a bit more... personal.)

Hey, just because I got into one argument with him...

Also, I'd like the record to show that I had nothing to do with the squabble in the gender thread.

I don't want any trouble tonight. I don't feel like I got TOO personal. I had a web stalker once, that was when I went too far. :)

Well, I see no need for a fuss here. I'm going to bed soon.

The threads and discussion just reflect the community's collective mood, which is a little dull simply because we don't all mutually have something that we're looking forward to, like 'Tales of Monkey Island' or a Sam & Max season. We've got 'Back to the Future', sure, but not all of us are interested in 'BttF', and only half of the 'BttF' fans are still feeling any excitement towards the series due to the somewhat mediocre first episode.

Like IcedHope said, things will pick up.

derailments aside i think the main reason these threads are getting worse is because of all the new users. The people that used to post often when i first joined (who made much better posts) barely ever post anymore. now people make all these stupid threads that have nothing to do with telltale (seriously what the hell does doctor who have to do with telltale?) also people derail threads at any chance they can get and post a picture that has nothing to do with anything (just watch someone going to do it after i post this)

Eh, don't remind me; that was the single worst month (or was it longer?) of the forums. You'd put in all the effort to explain to one of those ignoramuses what the situation was, only for another moronic twit to make the exact same baseless complaints and accusations on the next page... it was draining.

If all people ever talked about in the General Chat forum was Telltale, I'd disappear pretty quickly. I like Telltale's games and all but there's only so much you can say about one company.

If you're talking about me, the pictures I post are generally bad visual puns that are relevant to the discussion in a tangental way. I only do it because they amuse me a little and sometimes it's nice to lighten the mood. Sorry to do it in your thread.

Whining about derailments seems so simple minded to me, both from users as well as from mods. It's part of every more enjoyful&interesting conversation talking to what comes to your mind as well and normally after a certain tangent idea has been explored enough it automatically jumps back to the original topic on its own.

But already in school you had those people who, instead of beeing creative on their own, prefered to point at other kids and couldn't deal with stuff not written on their mum-said-agenda.

I also think that people who complain about derailments mostly are the ones who weren't around when a discussion in The Legendary Monkey Island Fanart derailed so hard it had to be split into a new thread, moved to the General Chat forum, and renamed Boobs: An Artistic Discussion. Most of us who were around then agree that it was one of the funnest things to happen around here, so those who weren't might not be so quick to enjoy seeing where a conversation goes, even if it has nothing to do with where it started.

Genral Chat means talk about anything in genral not just TTG. Some of the topics where descussing TTG making a Doctor Who game anyway.

I liked the boob thread 'cause it went like this.

1.How do you guys draw boobs?
2. Like this!
3. No... See, the nipples are too square, gotta do it like this.
4. Oh. I see. Thanks!
5.*picture of Avi*
6. Nice boobs, Avi!
7. Yes, Avi, I find you breasts to be a delightful change of scenery.

That thread far outlived its usefulness, and considering it was the result of a derail that was so terrible that it deserved its own thread, that's an example of a terrible derail that should have been its own thread in the first place because it completely absorbed the topic of discussion. I also think that people who praise derailments mostly are the ons who weren't around when a discussion about one thing was able to actually remain an actual discussion that, rather than being a collage of statements floating in a vacuum and miniature conversations existing between two people or small groups, was an actual and organic conversation in which other people read everyone else's posts, people made progress and said interesting things, and conversation quality in general was better. The forums took something of a net loss when Tales arrived. Luckily, Guru's Whatever's On Your Mind thread acts as a container for most of the pointless drivel, much the way the Forum Games subforum was made to contain the problem of people constantly posting annoying forum games and drowning out actual threads. Good job, buddy.
