Jurassic Park FAQ
UPDATED: November 15'th
Q: I used my code from the Jurassic Part Trilogy set for a free episode. Where is it?
A: You'll be able to download this by logging into the site and clicking the Your Games link in the top-right. It's not currently available for download, but we'll have it up soon.
Q: What is the Price of the game?
A: For the PC, there are two versions. The standard edition is $29.99, and the Deluxe Edition is $49.99 (with a $10 discount if purchased prior to launch, bringing the price down to $39.99.) Retail editions for the Xbox 360 are $39.99. It's available for the PS3 on PSN at $29.99
Q: When does the game take place?
A: It takes place during the events of the first movie.
Q: What kind of game will this be?
A: It will be an adventure game with action elements.
Q: When will the game be released?
A: Nov 15th, 2011.
Q: What systems will it be available for?
A: It will be available on the PC and Mac, on the PS3 through PSN, and as a retail release for the 360.
Q: What about merchandise, and my free DVD for the PC/Mac version?
A: We have t-shirts and posters available in our store. As of right now, we do not have plans to make a Collector's DVD available, but the Deluxe Edition of the game does include a DVD.
Q: Does Telltale ship worldwide?
A: Yes, absolutely!
Q: What are the System Requirements for the PC/Mac?
PC System Requirements
OS: XP Service Pack 3 / Vista / Windows 7
Processor: 1.8 GHz Pentium 4 or equivalent
Memory: 2 GB RAM
Hard Disk Space: 2 GB Space Free
Video Card: ATI or NVidia card w/ 256 MB RAM
DirectX®: Direct X 9.0c
Sound: Direct X 8.1 sound device
Mac System Requirements
OS: Mac OS X 10.6

A: English and German voice options with English, German and French subtitles.
Q: Can I play Jurassic Park with a gamepad?
A: Definitely! You'll be given the option to choose between gamepad and keyboard/mouse when you start the game. If you wish to switch control schemes, you will need to restart the game. Sorry, but at this time, gamepad support is not available on the Mac.
Q: Hey, why can't I save my game? What's going on? There's no option on the main menu.
A: Don't worry - the game is saving automatically at set checkpoints. If you want to replay a section later, you can choose it from the Scenarios list on the main menu. When you load your game, you will be taken to the latest checkpoint you've reached.
Q: Episodes 2-4 aren't available on the main menu. I bought the game. What's the deal?
A: You will need to complete Episode 1 before you're able to start Episode 2. Then you'll need to proceed through all of Episode 2 before Episode 3 will unlock, and so on.
Current known issues:
Gamepads are not currently supported in the Mac client. However, upon launching the game, you will still be asked to choose between gamepad and mouse/keyboard. Please make sure you choose the mouse/keyboard option. The control prompt will be removed from the Mac version soon.

By the way, what systems will this game be available for?

You must be kidding! Did you even read the FAQ's above?!
Just to verify what's already established, you will be able to plug an USB X-Box 360 pad into your PC and use that. It may be possible to use other game controllers too. Did anyone here try using a none 360 pad for BTTF?

Haha, yeah, thats what if been doing for the last coupla days and its still enjoyable, im just waiting to actually see a Triceratops standing up in the first movie for once, and I wanna see these new dinos!
I definetaly think that Telltale should release a demo this month of the game since they are trying so many new things with this game in particular. I played the game demo at GDC in SFO, and I wouldnt complain if they just released this section with a fixed Rex roar, I would just play it over and over. Please Telltale, give us a demo or something more very soon, the 3 question interviews are cool, how about more of those or some more screenshots for now? Thanks!

The demo is usually the first act or two of the first episode - and yes, it's only released at the same time as the actual game. In fact, usually the files are the same, and you can unlock the demo to get the full episode without having to download another big file :)

For all of Telltale's other games: No. If you buy the whole season, you are eligible for the free DVD. You don't have to buy it on pre-order, you can buy it any time. I assume JP will be the same.

Telltale rarely announce the exact release date, except perhaps about a week before the game is released (and even then, not always: BTTF Episode 2 was released without any prior notice of the release date).
Just get used to only a month being supplied, and if the game arrives on or before April 30th, you should be satisfied :)

How many episodes in total?
5. This information is visible in the trailer on the official game site (http://www.telltalegames.com/jurassicpark)
What is the collector's DVD?
At the end of the season (plus a few months), a DVD is made available that contains all 5 episodes of the game (for PC & Mac), plus bonus features (usually concept art, trailers, and other things). You can place an order to have it posted to you, and if you've already bought the season (pre-order or not) you only have to pay for postage - the DVD itself is free.
Have a look in the store at the DVDs available for all three Sam & Max seasons, SBCG4AP and Tales of Monkey Island for good examples of the Collector's DVDs.

I would like to clarify a bit further on the DVD issue.
First, the DVD does not ship automatically at the end of the season. When the DVD becomes available, you'll have to come back here, make sure you're logged into your Telltale account, then add the DVD to your cart in the store. The price of the DVD will come up as $0, and you'll only have to pay for shipping at checkout.
Second, the DVD usually becomes available for pre-order quite a while before it's actually ready to ship, in order to allow Telltale to gauge numbers for manufacturing purposes. So fair warning, if you order the DVD as soon as it's in the store, you'll still probably be waiting a while for it while Telltale finishes having the discs manufactured and processed for shipping and everything. Tales of Monkey Island took three months from the time I pre-ordered the disc on the first day of pre-orders to the time it left their warehouse. Sam & Max season 3 took two months. So I want to warn you guys about this up front to reduce the complaints later on, like we've seen in the past when people didn't understand the system.

Telltale occasionally does retail versions of their games, but not often. I wouldn't count on it. And as we've said, the DVD won't arrive from Telltale's store until a few months after the last episode comes out. Here's a timeline of my experiences so you have some idea of what you can expect (with some variation depending on demand).
December 8th, 2009 - Tales of Monkey Island chapter 5 releases
March 11th, 2010 - Tales DVD goes up for pre-order, I purchase a Deluxe Edition
June 28, 2010 - Tales Deluxe Edition ships
I should mention that this is an unusual case, as the Deluxe Edition included extra merch in a fashion Telltale has never done before or since, and the standard DVD shipped a bit sooner than the deluxe.
August 30, 2010 - Sam & Max season 3 chapter 5 releases
October 6, 2010 - I pre-order season 3 DVD a while after preorders open
December 15, 2010 - My season 3 DVD ships
So yeah, just to let you guys know in advance, there will be a decent waiting period, first while the DVD content is prepared, then while the DVD is being manufactured following pre-orders. This will be normal and you will get your DVD. And who knows, maybe as Telltale grows as a company, the wait might get shorter.

I've never tried an episodic game before. Is this like You play a game but its not done the next episode continues the story? Really though can I at least have a gun ingame? There were guns in the movie I dont expect to run and gun dinosaurs down but id like somewhere to unload on them .
GuruGuru214
03/20/2011, 06:25 pm
Fighting enemies with guns isn't really Telltale's style, but as this game is a new style for them and I've never played Heavy Rain, I can't exactly completely rule it out. I would call it unlikely, though.
And yes, that's generally how episodic games work. Episodic games are basically shorter games that you get cheaper and more often, though Telltale is the only company that seems to be doing episodic correctly (see: Half-Life 2: Episode 3 and Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 2).
Telltale's earlier seasons were structured so that each episode could stand on its own, but there was an overall plot thread continuing through the whole season. Beginning with Tales of Monkey Island (though some of this can be seen earlier in Sam & Max season two and Strong Bad), they shifted to a more ongoing storyline, with each episode ending on some sort of cliffhanger.
Watsamax

So it will be one payment of $30 then shipping? with all 5 episodes? I wikied it and did hear you often pay for ea episode.
GuruGuru214
03/21/2011, 04:36 am
Telltale doesn't often sell their episodes individually anymore. For Jurassic Park, the only payment option currently is $30 (until release, when it jumps to $35) for all five episodes, then if you want the DVD, you can order it for the cost of shipping at any point after it becomes available.

The system requirements for "BttF" say we need 3 GB RAM, but there is no info about the requirements for "Jurassic Park" in the official Telltale store. Could you add that? Steam says 2 GB RAM. Is that correct? So we need less than for "Back to the Future"?

It's a digital downloadable game. i.e. it's available worldwide!
For the PC/Mac versions at the TTG website (and probably Steam), it's the same release date world wide. Presumably for PS3 there'll be regional staggered release dates, as there has been with S&M Season 3/BTTF.

I am so very excited for this. Will preorder as soon as I figure out how to get the price displayed in pounds.
I'm not sure if you can convert the price display on the site to pounds - I've been registered with Telltale for a while, and I've never found a way to do that. I used a currency converter on my mobile phone instead to work out (roughly) how much my orders were going to cost. To preorder Jurassic Park, I paid $22.04 (around £11.50 including shipping) using the gift code voucher I received after the game was delayed in April. Without the voucher, the price comes up to $39.99/£20.94, and with $17.04 for shipping to the UK, that's $57.03/£29.87 altogether. This should be taken as more of a guide than a concrete indication on how much it's going to cost, but I hope I've been of some help to you :)
I just updated IcedHope's FAQ in the first post. Please have a look at it if you have any questions about the game.
Thanks,
Mike

What kind of answer is that for people like myself that just paid for a game that said:
PC|MAC
only to get to the download page and find it unavailable?
That's called a scam.

No, that's not called a scam, sorry. The Mac client will be available later today. On the 15'th, which is the official release date. We'll have it on our servers as soon as possible, and I apologize for the delay.

Q: What about merchandise, and my free DVD for the PC/Mac version?
A: We have t-shirts and posters available in our store. You will be able to purchase a Collector's DVD if you've purchased the digital edition for the PC/Mac. We do not currently have an ETA on when this disc will be available.
The question is about a "free DVD" but the answer says digital edition buyers will be able to "purchase" a DVD. Could you clarify, actually answer the question as to whether or not digital edition buyers get a free (not including shipping) DVD as has been the case with previous TTG series?
Current known issues:
Gamepads are not currently supported in the Mac client. However, upon launching the game, you will still be asked to choose between gamepad and mouse/keyboard. Please make sure you choose the mouse/keyboard option. This will be fixed soon.
How exactly will this be "fixed"? Support for gamepads will be added? Or the interface screen that offers a choice will be eliminated?
Clarified that entry in the FAQ. It's free, but you need to pay the shipping cost, which is how we've always done it.
For now, the control prompt will be removed from the Mac version. I don't have an ETA and when that will be patched yet.

No product available and no timeframe, other than "later."

Actually, it probably isn't finishing. The archive is about 2.6GB in size, so if the file you have is nowhere near that size, then whatever you're using to download it is getting pissed off and terminating the download.

Telltale Games is a US based company in California they release their games during their business hours... They are not a huge game company like EA.. they release the games when they are ready... Totally agree, in the end, if you have to wait a few hours for a game to be released then you have to wait. It's not the end of the world. Behind a computer everyone is an expert and hard man. You do not need to forget your manners, or politeness just because you are a few thousand miles away.

Telltale is not a huge global games giant like EA who have their retail products pre-stocked globally to be let loose on a timezone specific date; nor do they have multi-national servers that unleash the game in timezone specific waves.
They are in CA the USA and they release it when its ready, which will be in working hours of that timezone.
You need to learn how to not be an impatient brat, it'll be out on pc and mac within the 15th of november in their timezone. Even if its late in the day, or the following day for other timezones.

So i preorder the first round and now the second round, waited most of the day checking the web to see if the download is up. Jurassic park home page says buy now for mac and pc. when you go to download there is no mac version to download.... I would really hate to have bought the game today saying mac version is available now. Then when i go to download the mac version is no place to be found.... TELLTALE is really starting to let me down, If you say a game is coming out on a certain day you release the game that day... don't says its available and then it not actually be available for download....
Then when you go to FAQ hidden nice and small at the bottom it says that the mac client isn't up yet, and there is no timeframe of when it will be.
DONT SAY THE GAME IS UP WHEN ITS NOT!!!
This is covered in the FAQ at the top of the forum. The Mac version will be up a bit later today. Sorry for the delay.

Are you 5 years old, or are you a mayfly with the life expectancy of not much more than a day that you simply can not wait, if a delayed game for a few hours really gets you this upset, how on earth do you deal with more serious issues. Really. I don't mean to judge anyone but come on dude. I'm in the UK, I use a MAC, its 1.20am and I think I'll quite happily wake up tomorrow morning and download the MAC version, the game is not going to evaporate over night like your formula milk, now toys back in your pram.

We have no plans to make the episodes available individually as of right now.
Perhaps not, but if the first episode needs to be split out in order to placate the Blu-ray purchasers, then at least an upgrade bundle will need to be in place, otherwise those who use those vouchers to get the free episode will be sorely disappointed that they would need to re-purchase the first episode to get the rest.

No I would not prefer something that's not ready for release,
but I would be a lot more understanding if they admitted it is not ready a lot earlier.

I have just noticed that if I choose to quit while playing episode 2 , after the game closes the the smaller Jurassic Park launcher window doesnt pop up, because of this I am unable to relaunch the game as the Jurassic Park process is still running, I have to open task manager an manually end the Jurassic Park process before I can relaunch the game.
I have checked and this doesn't happen if I choose to quit while playing episode 1, I am currently only up to episode 2 so I am unsure if this occurs in any other episodes.
Can anyone confirm this as a bug?

Sorry to say it, but yes, you and your friend will need to be connected to the Internet in order to play the game on PC. When you start the game up for the first time, you'll be asked to enter your username and password before you play. Once you've done it, though, it won't ask you to do it again, and you won't need to be connected to carry on playing.

Well what about this??
if i activate it on my computer and transfer the game over will it play on the computer without the internet connection? And by username you mean the username to telltale games?

And also
Will there be the manual activation of the game. Like going on the phone to get it activated instead of having internet. Because that would solve my problems indefinitely.;)

Just to clarify this issue: There is no workaround to get the downloaded PC/Mac game to work without an internet connection. BUT if you bought the Deluxe Edition, you will also be sent the DVD version if you pay P&P (and if you're in the US, you should receive it before X-mas). In all games past, this DVD was completely standalone and required no online activation.
However, if the game is bought with your account, there might be a slight legal problem with giving the DVD copy to a friend. If it comes to this, better ask support whether that would be OK.
If you haven't bought the Deluxe Edition yet, it IS still in store (http://www.telltalegames.com/store/jp-deluxe-pack) (but more expensive than before release). I don't know for how long it will still be available, so I'm unsure if I really should advise you to wait until Thanksgiving. In the last years, TTG often had a sale that time of year.

REALLLLY!!!:D:D:D
Thank you for your reply. So you are saying that if i buy the deluxe edition i dont have to activate it over the internet?
If thats true i'll buy it right now:eek:

I'm sure that there won't be online activation for the standalone DVD, as that would be a completely new thing for TTG to do. But I'm just a voluntary forum moderator - I don't know that officially, it's all based on the experience of previous years!!
Maybe you could wait just a little longer, until this is officially confirmed somehow. The DVDs are not yet printed anyway, they're probably waiting until the very last moment to get them out just in time for X-mas. But please also make sure your friend has a computer that is good enough for the game! ;)

Got my confirmation now. ;)
The DVD version definitely doesn't need online activation. Go ahead - but please remember that this version will only arrive just in time for X-mas, not earlier!

So, for those of us who ordered the Deluxe Edition how do we download the digital soundtrack? Or did we download it when downloaded the game and I just can't find the files because I'm blind?
Edit: lol, never mind. The links are at the bottom of the download page.

"Real" PC retail versions of Telltale's games are far and few. Mostly, translated retail versions pop up after months or even years in some foreign countries. You can be sure however that even if there might be a retail version in stores someday, it will definitely not be in the next months because nothing is announced right now.

Apologies if this has been answered before...if I downloaded the game, can I upgrade to the deluxe version by paying the difference or would I have to buy the whole package again?

If you ask the support staff nicely they'll likely let you upgrade to the deluxe without forcing you to buy another copy of the game. They are usually very good about stuff like that.
Their email is support@telltalegames.com
Yes, send an email to that address, or drop me a PM here with your order number. I'm as accommodating as I can be with stuff like that, so I'll get it taken care of for you.

So it is written in the FAQ that everybody who purchased the digital version of JP will be able to get a DVD with paying for shipping only (like always). Since Telltale decided to offer some digital stuff only für de deluxe version does this offer still stand or will you only be able to get a DVD if you purchased the deluxe version?

They haven't made that option available just yet, but eventually you will be able to order the DVD version if you've already bought the regular version of the game. It could be some time in the new year when that happens, but when it does, they will notify you.

Are you sure about this? JP is the forst game which only delivers commentarys when ordering the deluxe edition and the commentaries will not be available to the buyers of the regular version so it could be that thios also applies to the DVD itself. The entry in the FAQ is quite old so it could be that it changed.

The commentaries for JP are only available to deluxe buyers as digital downloads, and I know that because I myself have bought the deluxe pack. They're not going to be on the disc itself for either version, if that's what you meant to say.

I got a voucher for the game since I preordered the PC version last year. Is it possible to use it for the PS3 version? Or if I get the PC version, can I download that to my PS3? I ask because my PC died recently, but I still want to play the game.

Hi Zeke, the voucher is only valid for the Telltale store (i.e. PC/Mac version), and that wouldn't work on your PS3.

Unfortunately this doesn't seem to be true. Michael Parks just told me in my thread that there are at this moment no plans to release a regular DVD from the game.
http://www.telltalegames.com/forums/showpost.php?p=576302&postcount=5
So JP will be the first game where you'll lonly get a DVD Version when buying the deluxe editions. Unfortunately they never mentioned this "little" change in release-politic before so I could have ordered the deluxe edition prior launch. I am really pissed right now!
