I thought I would bring this up. Now, a friend of mine was talking about Beetlejuice and Telltale games. He thinks that Telltale games should make an adventure game out of Beetlejuice(only because they did Back To the future). As well as cartoon humored stuff like Strong bad and Monkey Island. I'm not agaisnt the idea of an adventure/point and click beetlejuice, I can picture it happening. But not done by telltale games. I don't know any other studio good with point and click adventure gaming besides Telltale that would do Beetlejuice.
So would you guys like to see an adventure game of Beetlejuice?

I think it could work, definitely couldn't be worse than the old LJN game. I'd suggest putting it in the universe of the cartoon series rather than the movie though.

That's quite an imaginative idea. I would definitely play the game and if it takes place in the world of the cartoon, they would have a decent amount of material to work with. Although, I really liked Barbara and Adam and I was disappointed that they didn't get a role in the cartoon.

I think it would work rather perfectly if its like the cartoon.

I think that Autumn Moon would be the best developer for the job, judging from the tone and artwork seen in A Vampyre Story and Pirates of Vooju Island.
Having said that perhaps Tim Schafer is the closet gaming has to Tim Burton and as such maybe Double Fine would be the best match.
Either way, TellTale would be a distinct 3rd for me when it comes to Beetlejuice as an IP.
Then again I'm not exactly a huge fan of Beetlejuice as an IP, so I'd rather no-one develop it.
Yes, that's my choice. I say Beetleguise, you say Beetlejuice; let's call the whole thing off!

Hey, that idea of a cartoon beetlejuice P&C game is a pretty good idea. I should know, I was the one who thought it up :)

I would buy it just for a re-creation of the cartoon series intro in 3D, as long as they use the real music.

Yeah and maybe the original cast with replacements for those who died

Movie-Beetlejuice or Cartoon-Beetlejuice?

Movie-Beetlejuice or Cartoon-Beetlejuice?
I would go with the cartoon. There's a lot more there to go on than in the movie, plus it makes it easier for the player to play as Beetlejuice if you do the cartoon.

If you base it on the cartoon, you're going to get plenty of people complaining "wtf why is Beetlejuice friends with Lydia?" and whatnot. I don't think you'd get much of a positive reception from the general public reviving a classic movie like Beetlejuice and not basing it off of the actual classic movie. Do you think anyone would have cared about Back to the Future if it like the cartoon and not the movies?

Scnew brings up an interesting point. While some people did watch the cartoon, many only saw the movie.
The only problem is that it wouldn't make too much sense to play as Betelgeuse in the movie-version of the game. In terms of playable characters in the movie version, perhaps switching between the Maitlands and Lydia would work better gameplay-wise.
In contrast, if the game was based in the cartoon universe, it would make more sense to play as Betelgeuse or Lydia full time.
Either way, there will always be a select group of players disappointed in the selection of universe (movie vs cartoon).

Yeah. And I'm not trying to knock the cartoon or anything, I love it was a kid and it probably would be better source material for an adventure game. But to give another non-adventure example, do you think that Ghostbusters game that came out a year or two ago would have sold half as well if it was based on The Real Ghostbusters and not the films?

Alright, as for the game itself it'll be based on the cartoon and as for the movie with the maitlands we can have passing references when certain things are said or items are clicked on
zounds!

It practically was. I would've been on the side that preferred the cartoon actually. I always liked Bill Murray's voice by Lorenzo Music. He certainly would've done a better job than Murray. (who sounded drunk and bored) (which is funny in its own way)
Oh I see here Lorenzo died in 2001, that sucks.

Of course there is a third option. Do a linking story between the movie and the cartoon. This can be done fairly easily as nothing in the cartoon negated the movie. It might actually be good to do a hybrid.

That's what I was hoping for :)

How so? The original actors voices and likenesses, the music from the films, the story that tied directly into the events of the first film...

The real Ghostbusters featured the music from the movie also (at least the theme) The likenesses were there, and the stories were supposed to be an extension of the film. So the the new game, could've easily have just been another episode of the cartoon. But that would be kinda dumb since the movies were what were really popular with people. The Beetlejuice cartoon had the likenesses also, but the story was completely different than the movie.

Not a bad idea, provided if you can get the people who made Vampyre story for the job though.

If you do send them a message hatter, will you tell them to do it fully 2d? Meaning hand-drawn animation and everything for the game? I would like to see that happen but I dont want to see the characters in 3D with 2d backgrounds. That was my problem with Vampyre story.

What's wrong with 3d characters in a 2d background?
Darkblader

It doesnt mix well. I think a vamprye story would have worked better off as a fully 2D game. I mean look at the animation in Love for Sail, Discworld 2, and Curse of Monkey island.

There is no way Telltale could afford Alec Baldwin, but if they could, oh my God.

Maybe if they somehow got Michael Keaton and Gina Davis, Baldwin might consider. Although, the likelihood of them getting all the original actors and affording them (for that matter) is minuscule.
