Yes. Just watched the dev dairy and they were able to get the "original" Jennifer to voice the game. Looks real good by the way.

Its all coming together.

Now just sitting and waiting till next week for episode 3.

Definitely awesome... I like that they have Claudia too.. its a shame that she was not able to continue the role in the sequels but now she is back.

zounds!

*blinks* OMG...this is an awesome overdose. Seriously, there's just so much awesome in this series now.

PS, punk-rock Jennifer is totally cute. And way outta Marty's league. lol Here's hoping we see normal Jennifer too though.

Marty goes to enchantment under the sea and has to make moves on his mom.... AJ goes and gets Claudia Wells number... well done AJ.

Edit: Is it just me, or does Jennifer's character model look a lot like Trixie? Is Trixie actually Jennifer's grandmother?

Woah, that's heavy.

I'm so happy that they got Claudia for the voice of Jennifer. I really enjoyed her role in the first movie, regardless of how small it was. The character model for Jennifer looks amazing and it looks like she's getting some heavy character development. Just one more reason to look forward to episode three.

No offense, but Jennifer looks really weird with purple hair, but at least they got Claudia!

OMFG. That is so freaking cool. That just made the wait for Episode 3 harder. And Claudia is looking fine as ever too. I always thought she was the hotter of the two Jennifers. lol

03/23/2011, 07:42 pm
Yay! I'm very happy about this. I'm glad they got Claudia Wells back, and I'm super excited that we'll get to see an alternate Jennifer for once. I hope we'll be able to see regular Jennifer too, and not just in a "Jennifer, I missed you so much" role. :)

Anyway, getting back on-topic, it's great to see there'll be at least one more movie cast member returning besides Christopher Lloyd, and Jennifer's punk-rock look is just a great design.

I guess this video means we'll be seeing Episode 3 soon? Well, we're near the end of March. I guess we have to be seeing it soon. :p

Claudia doesn't sound like a teenager anymore either. I think most fans can suspend their disbelief if it means having one of the original actors on board. I doubt anyone would have complained if Michael were able to rerise his role.

That's all beside the point, of course. I'm just saying.

The sad thing is, at this point AJ Locascio can probably do a better Marty voice than Michael J. Fox can. Even if he didn't have Parkinson's, age takes its toll on everybody. :(

And yes, Claudia doesn't sound like a teenager from what we've heard, but it seems like Citizen Brown Jennifer is supposed to sound a little deeper than normally, so I guess it's OK.

There were 2. Claudia Wells was in BTTF 1, but the time BTTF 2 was shooting her mom got sick so she declined to reprise the role. So the got Elizabeth Shue to recast for 2 & 3. That's what i've heard.

Mary Steenburgen (Clara) has been in quite a few things since BTTF 3. I know she was in the movie Elf and the show "Curb your Enthusiasm". So I'd wonder she'd want to do something like this....

Teens rebel... it's in their nature. Most teens, at least. Plus, Marty's actions in 1931 had a more global effect on the Parker family that would lead to Jennifer growing up to be more of a rebel.

We have some digital sound magic that helps to push her sultry voice into a higher register. All we needed from her was a clear timbre and an excellent performance.

I think one of the coolest parts of writing ep 3 was finally giving Jennifer a more central role to fill. We wanted to introduce Jennifer in such a way that it would garner the response, "hells yeah... that's more like it!" Jennifer's return develops immediate character conflict with Marty, but we remain mindful of her original timeline incarnation. The question to ask-- is there some innate chemistry between Marty and Jennifer that exists no matter the timeline?

We are mere days away of finding out! So excited!

Very cool. I do like that Jennifer has gotten to be fleshed out more. I don't mind that it's an alternate version of herself.

I do also think that there will still be that spark between her and Marty. True love always finds a way. I see her helping him all the while she is wondering why she is.

There's this idea that I've seen among Back to the Future fans that comes out when talking about these games, in that, "Oh, it's just an alternate version of _____, not the REAL ____." This kind of baffles me. I mean, that's the whole point of the film franchise, really, especially when you get to the core of what the first movie is. "What if things had gone differently?" They're not different people, you just see different sides of them. It's a way of exploring characters in a way that is impossible otherwise, not a way of replacing a character with one that looks very similar and has the same name but is otherwise different altogether. This is still them, but under different circumstances. If written correctly, anyway.

This is something I actually thought about often. There's the notion that Marty shouldn't care about these alternate versions of his friends and family... his only goal is to undo this reality.

But, I see Marty as unable to help himself but to be invested in these versions of people. He understands that the timeline is tenuous and probably going to be rewritten, but that doesn't mean he can completely devoid himself of empathy towards their station in life-- it is, after all, Marty's and Doc's fault in one way or another.

Well maybe it could be because they are alternate versions of themselves. They are not the person as they were in the original timeline. Hence they are an altered version of that person. Hence the name alternate because they are not the person as they were originally. Even the movies use the term alternate a couple of times.

Keep in mind nobody thinks that it's bad that they are alternate versions of themselves. If anything it is used to explore another side of the person and is even done so in the movies.

Claudia wasn't able to reprise her role in part II and III because her mother had cancer at the time. She was replaced by Elisabeth Shue. But you can barely tell the difference since they shot the last scene from part I again for part II.

I consider the switch from Claudia Wells to Elizabeth Shue a temporal anomaly resulting from Marty and Doc tinkering with the past. Somewhere around the time of that Enchantment Under The Sea Dance, Jennifer's dad met and married a different woman ;)

I think the fact that the original timeline Jennifer wasn't a "rebel," but the new one is, suggests that in this new world she actually has something to rebel against. She was probably more or less content with her life before, but now she's literally living in an oppressive dictatorship, and so she's latched on to nonconformist punk counterculture as a means of visibly expressing her political defiance.

It's interesting that she's still wearing the orange polo shirt and khaki pants that the other characters were wearing in the episode preview, but she's modified them to make them her own. It's likely that in Citizen Brown's world this isn't merely a mandatory uniform, but rather the only clothing available.

Wow. Not only are we getting something way, way closer to a Back to the Future Part IV than anything I expected to exist, but it has Claudia Wells playing Jennifer again! And she's getting a serious role in the story at last! (I for one was always a bit disappointed that she got knocked out for most of parts II and III...) The only way I can think of to have been more surprised would be if they'd somehow gotten Crispin Glover. Episode 3 is looking very exciting indeed!!

I'm pretty strongly hopeful Clara (and the time train and Jules and Verne... and the hoverboard) will appear, but whether it would be Mary Steenburgen or an impressionist... I dunno. It'd be cool if she did appear, but I'm sure an impressionist could do fine too, they've done pretty good jobs in this area so far (though I do agree that it'd be nice to hear Biff's actor get a little more gravelly... he does okay for most of the dialogue, but he never quite engenders that "oh shit" feeling you got every now and then... like, look at the "Two McFly's... with the same gun" line in Part II. It's really kinda scary! But I do have to say he does a pretty solid performance as Kid Tannen).

...Also, I hold out very little hope for it so as not to be disappointed, but no matter how shaky and older he is, I think I speak for most people when I say that it would be awesome if Michael J. Fox played even the smallest, briefest role in the story, and as for where that would be possible, Doc did mention back in Episode 1 that he was planning to visit Marty and Jennifer in 2011... so I'm not going to set my heart on it or anything since there's a very real chance it's not the case, but it would be a very "d'awwww!" moment if it happened. I would tear up a little, I think.

But hey, at the very least, there was that cool thing about preorders giving donations to his Parkenson's foundation (http://www.michaeljfox.org/), and I respect that. :)

...also, if something like that did happen, it'd be kind of a neat little parallel with the fact that Doc, too, has a (darn good!) impressionist playing his younger self, eh?

Just watched the video, and all I can say is that my expectations of this series continue to skyrocket! I loved the first episode, the second was interesting in its exploration of the characters, but this one looks like its going to be incredible, and the fact that you have Claudia reprising her role as Jennifer makes the series feel that much more authentic! I cannot wait to play Citizen Brown!

I think it was mentioned that they made her voice a little higher pitched in order for her to sound more like a teenager. She did an excellent job though and I was thrilled to hear the Claudia playing Jennifer once more.

I've gotta say I was kind of sceptical about it.
She hasn't done any acting in so long, and by now it would be just like any old house mom doing the voice. I was scared that they got Claudia for her name more than for the quality of her voice work.

I was pleasantly surprised to hear how good her voice work is though. Good job Telltale!

Her Cameo in the beginning was insufficient. She could have done the VO for her Grandma or something. Make sure she hops into the Delorean in Episode 5 or we will wave our fists into the air at you!
