View Full Version : A Collection of April Fool's Pranks

We all know what day it is today, and the Internet does, too. Let's see all the pranks we can find!

xkcd (http://www.xkcd.com) - Has done a prank every year, but today's is pretty impressive, although not as funny as the text-based parser imput (you could pet a kitty!) or the crossover they did with Dinosaur Comics. Randall turned all his comics into headache-inducing 3-D ones.

Jay Is Games (http://www.jayisgames.com) - Last year, they tricked thousands into thinking there was a hidden game on the Zombocom website. This year, they reviewed a flash version of Tic-Tac-Toe as if it were a high-stakes RTS war game. Good times.

Found any more pranks?

Kongregate (http://www.kongregate.com) is marking its cooperation with GameStop by letting you trade in flash games.

Google (http://www.google.com/landing/csfe/) is lauding the superior qualities of Comic Sans and released a Chrome plugin to spread the goodness.

Goblins (http://www.goblinscomic.com/) is being taken over by John Kovalic.

Thinkgeek (http://www.thinkgeek.com) has the usual gathering of fake products and a free t-shirt. Every year for the past few years, they've ended up taking one April Fool's item and making it for real. This year, I'm betting on the Lightsaber Popsicles. There's also a contest to win either a Virtual Boy and $1000 shopping spree or a 3DS. The 3DS is second prize. They did the same thing last year with an Apple Newton and an iPad.

Last year, Woot (http://www.woot.com) turned their website into a choose your own adventure shopping experience, with about 25 items for sale and a complex system to reach all of them. This year, they're selling their Random Crap all day, but you have to clear level 4 of their flash game in order to earn the privilege to buy one.

And deviantArt (http://www.deviantart.com) has Trollfaces popping up on the screen randomly.

Oh, and why does everyone forget about Questionable Content in that xkcd prank? Dinosaur Comics was hosted on questionablecontent.net, QC was hosted on xkcd.com, and xkcd was hosted on qwantz.com.

The only one I've noticed today is not really linkable as it was on the radio but basically someone impersonated the host of a show this morning for the entire length of the program.

Armorgames.com

If you log in everything is replaced with Justin Beiber, and the disable button links to, you guessed it, Friday. It also disables the Beiber thing.

Ah, I was wondering was the art in there was disappointingly not disturbing.

I think the April Fools Joke I started last year (http://www.telltalegames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=15807) was the best one I ever made, especially considering the whole Telltale Team hopped on the bandwagon about it.

Sometimes, when the stars are aligned right, and we have all the props for the shooting of some cool commercial, things like that can happen :)

Also there is a pack for that which if you buy(its about 40 bucks) you get a potato hat in TF2.
Dispite there being some great games in there such as amnesia(or so Ive heard, but then again not a fan of horror games) Ill pass on this.
