This game is so damn good. It's better than some of the movies in the franchise. I'm playing through it for the third time right now and I can't get over how high the production values are. The Joker is fantastic obviously (thanks Luke Skywalker) but everything about the game just kicks ass. The soundtrack rocks. The combat rocks. The mood is creepy. The plot keeps pushing you forward. The voice acting... OMG thank you Batman: The Animated Series (which is a whole other thread in itself).

Game's great, best comic book game out there hands down. Def picking up the sequel next month.
Boss fights are bloody dire though.

I disagree with coolsome, who agrees with me :p The boss fights are just the same recycled mechanic over and over again. The last few are a bit tricky cut only because they just throw more and more morons who run into walls at you as opposed to anything new.

I guess Im just bad at it :p I much prefer the sneaking around and the levels where theres like 10 gaurds and you gotta take them out one by one in an enclosed space.

I preferred the stealth in Batman to MGS4, for what it's worth.

That's right, Poison Ivy was different, and hard as well! Croc was different as well, but Croc was a pile of shite.
It's very easy to pick the bad points out of an excellent game i'm noticing!

Well you always remember what stands out. Batman's consistently excellent though.
I can't believe how much I am looking forward to the sequel.

Agreed. It would have been amazing enough to have a GOOD Batman game again, but Rocksteady went the extra mile and made one of the best games of this gen. Arkham City can't come soon enough.

Yeah it's basically one of the best games I've ever played.
I'm far too excited about the sequel because the developer says the SP is 25 hours long. I don't trust him exactly, but with a number that high it has to be a 15+ hour long game. He also says 15 hours of sidequests and on average 4 hours per DLC content pack thing.

My rule of thumb is to take the projected hours and subtract them by ten, so 15 sounds about right, at least for people like me that mosey through games like this so as to take in everything.

Arkham Asylum was a good game. In the terms of storytelling it's bloody gorgeous. It does make you feel very vulnerable as Batman too, though, which what I found really great about the game. Not everyone agrees with me on this as my friend who's a Batman fan hated the game through and through. The stealth was very good in the game although I admit I had to try some levels again and again at some points because I didn't even think of using explosive gel to kill all the guys at once. I think boss fights were easier than stealth segments, though, well, I hate stealth; I'm more of a platformer player, so that might explain it. I did stumble a little at Poison Ivy, though. My major concerns about the game was it had a lot of corridors and tight places (expected because of the setting) and boss battles were just dissatisfying at most. And, my god, I HATE KILLER CROC AND SCARECROW. I weeped in fear in those levels like a pansy.
I eagerly wait for Arkham City at the moment. If the things other than they introduced us till now doesn't go wrong, it's guaranteed that City will top Asylum very easily. Seems like they got the negative criticism and they're about to deliver something accordingly. Oh... plus... Catwoman looks so lovely.

Yeah... I agree its better than most if not all the Batman movies to date... it really nailed what Batman should be like.

I was good with the Scarecrow parts after I did the first one, but Killer Croc terrified me as well.

I loved this too. I didn't find the bosses that difficult. I played through the game on hard mode, and although they hit like a truck, they all had a pretty clear pattern to figure out that got me through. The part I actually had the hardest time with was getting the Party Pooper achievement for beating up all the thugs hanging out right by the final boss fight. That's tough on hard mode.
The only thing I hate about this game are the challenge modes. I like them in theory, but some of them are just really, really tough to get three stars.. er.. bats on. I only need a couple more of the combat challenges to 100% the game and although I've already played through the whole thing in hard mode, getting enough points in those things is just too damn hard.

I loved everything about the game. I hope they don't ruin Arkham City. By the looks of it, they've got it down, though.
Bosses are supposed to be hard.

Am I the only one who did not beat the crap out of those guys? I thought it was a nice gesture of Joker to welcome me with henchmen who aren't trying to beat me to death for once, and I didn't really want to spoil their fun they had with their cute party hats and all =<

That's exactly why I love them. Put on a podcast, try one of the harder challenges a few hundred times... it's cathartic. :p
What I don't like is a glitch involving the last set of Joker teeth that keeps me from ever 100%ing the game. Worst of all, I can't find anybody else with this problem.

I walked by all those guys just to see if they would stay there and laugh at me. They did. I thought that was awesome. Then I turned to fight them but it was too late, I accidentally went on through the hallway. And I couldn't go back.

What about a small indie game reported to have ~9 hours?

I had issues finding the last of the Joker teeth, but in the end I did find them all. The last Joker teeth I missed was hiding up in a corner in Patient Observation, and the gamefaqs guide (http://www.gamefaqs.com/pc/952339-batman-arkham-asylum/faqs/57696)'s location for it was misleading.

Only thing keeping this game from being perfect were the boss fights same with Uncharted 2. Hope they'd fix that in the sequel.

Mine's stuck underneath the statue in the Botanical Gardens. I even started the game over, and it's still there. I had hoped that detonating some gel over every square inch of the room would hit it through the floor, but no dice.

You can't target it with a batarang or throw a remote controlled one at it?
wait... through the floor? you mean it's inside the floor? how did you find it then?

The boss fights were fine. This was the first fun and actually difficult gaming experience for me in a long time. I don't want no watered down easy-peasy garbage like everything else. If they water down the sequel I'll be disappointed.

I didn't mind the boss battles so much, but I'd agree they were the weakest point. Still have to finish the stealth challenge maps, and it took forever just to do the combat ones! I'm so excited fot the sequel; really hope there is more Scarecrow and more clever Riddler puzzles.
DAISHI

The damn Riddler challenges! I never do out of the way stuff or extra challenges in games because it's frivolous to me, but they tied the Riddler challenge into the story and dialogue in a way I could not ignore! His incessant taunting drove me to completion!

Yep, through the floor. I can hear it chattering under there, and the map and a good two hours of combing the area back up its location. Makes me wish I could noclip in the 360 version.

Got about 98% of the joker riddles, no guide.
The game was supereasy though, aside from Scarecrow. Although FPS issues might have had something to do with that too (was playing on my old PC). Can't see why Croc should be an issue, didn't have to reload a single time for him :?. Ivy only once I think.
I am apparently way worse in stealth that you guys though :p

my only issue was the final joker battle...even on hardest, once you master running around in a circle, he's too easy. It's the whole "programmed to follow where you are at any given second instead of a few feet ahead of your positioning" issue many games have.

You know, I vaguely recall also thinking there was a set of Joker Teeth under the statue, only to eventually find it elsewhere on that map. Look around the whole map more--I remember being surprised where I found it based on where I first heard it.

I'll definitely give it another look. I still want to run through the game on hard, so that'd be the perfect opportunity.

Wow. That was horrible. Yeah, the final boss was a bit lacking after everything else. If they've improved the bosses in City (it sounds like they have), that will be great!
The first one was aweosme. It's cool, the Joker is insane and brilliant, it got the atmosphere perfect, it was fun to play and I loved the stealth parts. Just swinging around on the gargoyles and picking them off one by one. Loved those parts. True, the bosses were a bit lacking. Ivy was the hardest IMO, and I didn't like Croc much. If he's not in City, I wouldn't mind. Sure, he's creepy, but the other villains are far superior.
Excited for City. If they can improve on some parts from the first one (Bosses for example) this could end up being my favourite game this year. Only one thing though: Am I the only one who thinks all these previews and such are overhyping it? They've also revealed a lot, some of it would've been better as a secret. I just hope it doesn't end up as a disappointment as a result.
