The first movie was a terrific blend of horror and comedy. The second one, not as great. The video game, which sorta acted as a third in the saga, was pretty good, but not perfect. If they do a third movie in this day and age, the are just going to be giving movie goers and die-hard fans the middle finger salute. Sure, it is probably the most talked about sequel since Indiana Jones 4. But Kingdom of the Crystal Skull turned out to be a mess. If they do Ghostbusters III, and you go to see it, then you will probably need to use your popcorn bag as a puke bucket.

I liked Crystal Skull. I'll like GB3.

People who hate on Kingdom of the Crystal Skull had too high an expectation, while the movie was just a continuation, both in storyline as well as in feel, of the previous movies.

Okay, I'm the one fellow in agreement. We may well be in the minority, but damn it! Who cares?! We're right!
Nah, it's all about the difference of opinion and in this particular instance we concur. Bring on Ghostbusters III, bring on the hate. Then we can say "told you so"!

They're all too long in the tooth for that lark, and a CGI Ghostbusters just wouldn't sit right with me at all.
Do you really wanna see frail old Bill Murray struggling to run with a proton pack on his back?

Yes. Bill Murray himself stated he'd only do GBIII if his character died, and being crushed by a proton pack sounds like a great way to go. :D

Waaaaaaaiiiiiiiiitttttt....
They need three guys and a girl. Don't tell me they're doing something similar to the Extreme Ghostbusters? I mean, if they can find a hot goth chick, I'm all up for a third Ghostbusters, but I don't think that's going to happen anytime soon.

You shut your lying, naysaying mouth. You shut it before I intentionally send myself into the maw of hell in order to gain the favor of Mephistopheles, only to return to this plain in the form of his Arch Necro-Demon, Nisshug Demoroth, and below forth my fiery call. I will sweep this world of all that would stand against another GB movie, and from my throne of flesh and bone, I would laugh the laugh of a million dooms.

Gozer the Gozerian tells you to shut your mortal mouth, naysaying or otherwise. Gozer the Destructor thinks you to be a tit; barely worthy to lick the under carriage of an animated gargoyle dog creature.
Gozer the almighty laughs at your puny face.

You suck. Ghostbusters 3 will suck too. It will perish in the flaming pits of the Seventh Circle of Hell. The movie shall be a total abomination. I will cut off my own unit if it means that they won't do Ghostbusters 3. THEY MUST NOT DO IT.

I don't see why people get so angry about a remake or sequel. Sure it may suck but will it make the original worse?, no. If your so against it don't go to see it which I highly doubt you will. No sequel or remake ever ruined the original.

One of the things I remember hearing about regarding on the third ghost-busters was that one of the stories had the guys in a hell version of Manhattan. And unlike the two previous films, this would have been a CG animated feature. Some of the ideas that were used from this were in the video game.
Now I think its a bit late for a new ghostbusters film, so why not make the 3rd ghostbusters as a video game? Heck, they can even do a series of ghostbuster video games.

They might as well make it. If it's good, hooray, and if it sucks, we can pretend the series ended in 1989, like the Indiana Jones series did.

I think you mean that IJ ended in 1992, after Fate of Atlantis
And yeah, if it turns out to be a good movie, that's cool, and if it doesn't, well, we've still got the first two films.

I'm not threatening him! I'm just saying that it will suck, and I would remove the hurt you comment if I could.

I think it all depends on Bill Murray at this point. I think they could come up with a reason for Venkman not to be there, but I think the studio would want him on board or else.

I'd pinch your silly cheeks for that, bobber. Though I too think franchise itself is best as a duology, and the videogame did good enough to honor it after some time. I've had my Ghostbusters meal for the time being.

I really don't see why they shouldn't make a Ghostbusters 3. Ghostbusters is a very famous series and people will flock to go see it if the orginal cast was back. And even if the third one doesn't do as well as the others.... so what? It's not like making a new movie would ruin the first one. The first one will still be as great as it is now.
Not only that but the new generation of people who haven't seen Ghostbusters will see that part 3 is coming out and will want to watch the original first. So in a way, it would really only help the series if they made another one. You know, I have a friend who had never seen Ghostbusters. It took that scene in Zombieland for him to finally watch it. And yep, he enjoyed it.
In any case, A part 3 would be worlds better of an idea than a remake.

He said if they kill him off in the first reel he would do it.

If only Lonnie were still here to spout off a couple of those classic "everything new is automatically crap" lines. Those were the days...
I'm fully behind making another Ghostbusters 3. I'm not confident it would be good, though, I suspect any script that they actually manage to convince Bill Murray to do probably would HAVE to be pretty good. But yeah. I'd give it a shot. Everyone says Ghostbusters 2 isn't as good as the original, and I agree, but I still love it. It's still got some great lines.

Moranis is coming out of retirement for Ghostbusters III. Wonder if he'd consider doing acting again after this is done.

Wasn't that role reserved for Gordon-Levitt? Seriously, that guy has to get more roles. ;)
/edit: Just researched a little: Nope, Gordon-Levitt plays "a cop". That cop however could turn out to be anyone.
On Rick Moranis: I really want to see more of him in modern movies. He's 58 now, but what the heck?

His wife died in 1991, and he still acted after that. It's still connected as he explained, as being a single Dad and the demands to an actor are hard to combine. Still, is it official that he's coming out of retirement for GBIII? All I heard is rumors.

I haven't heard anything official about it, and I don't expect him to. He didn't come out to rejoin most of the cast for the game(hence why his computer constantly has a note saying "Went home sick" on it), so I don't think he'd come back for the movie. Assuming the movie gets made.

That note on the computer was probably a way of teasing him to get back in action. ;) Maybe he's up for a short cameo. But I think the writing process he was involved in back then was what made these movies fun for him, and that definitely goes on without him at the time.
