1) The door only opens from the inside...and Hugh ain't gonna open it for you.

2) The only two conceivable ways to open the door are by high explosives, or magic.

3) Wait, magic!? There are a couple of magical items around.

4) Unfortunately, there's no 'melt door' magic. You'll have to see what's on the other side and somehow exploit it. But it's solid lead!

5) Get the talisman from the COPS. That will allow you to see through the door.

That should be enough hints for now.

oh! one more thing when you can see through the door I'd dout you can put the explosives at the controls

you need another talisman to use the door's unlock mechanism.
