A lot of you have seen this already since we're getting press coverage today, but there's the link to the first episode of Playing Dead - a new online talk show we're producing to offer you a behind the scenes look at the making of the Walking Dead game.

Our video editor Shaun Finney spearheaded this project, and it turned out great! A.J. Locascio (the voice of Marty in the Back to the Future game) is hosting, and the first episode features some of the Telltale crew talking about their favorite moments from Robert Kirkman's Walking Dead comic, and an interview with lead designers Jake Rodkin and Sean Vanaman on what the game is, and what to expect from it. There's screenshots from the game throughout the video.

The first episode will be hitting iTunes, Xbox Live and PSN soon, and we'll have new episodes for you on a biweekly basis going forward, with 9 episodes in total.

These could be pretty good things to say when talking about a movie, but pretty hazardous when speaking of games. Can I ask to explain?

► So, given that the "gameplay" - as individual tasks/puzzles - seems to be rather easy, does it means that the hard thing is to have the "right" ending?
► Due to the lacking of barriers, what will detract the game to be just an "it plays by itself"/"Am I playing in GOD mode" game? Where do you focus the challenge?
► There's an actual fear that we will be spending more time watching cutscenes rather than playing. Can you confirm that the gameplay is not just an "accessory support" to the story?

Robert Kirkman is involved in this project, he's happy with what he saw from the game...

Ive watched "The Playing Dead" and I've seen the screenshots... Slightly cartoony (I've been expected something like Jurassic Park style in the character design, something more realistic) but I like it.

Based on the comics, not on the show, what it means it's based on the original story.

First, direct control is implemented. But you're right to assume that this isn't everything. Second: Was it ever confirmed that you can not die in this game? (It would seem logical that you can't, though... as there are no QTEs (YAY!!), only wrong "decisions" could lead to dying).

This might be a question that would be more suitable for the webcast (if Robert Kirkman is going to be in one of them), but I was wondering what Kirkman's role was in the development of this game. Are there elements of the story that were changed after his comments, or did he suggest certain story points?

Yes it was. I'm actually surprised to find anyone else that loves it as much as I do. Wideload really should have made another. Such a shame they didn't. And with Alex gone from there and being totally owned by Disney now I don't see another ever happening.

Can plot central characters die or did you carefully write the plot to avoid their coming into danger?
IE: Lily, Glenn, or Hershel can't die because they exist in the comics and the comics are canon.

I can't wait for The Walking Dead episodes to releases!! Love what you guys do. Don't know the best place to post requests but Blade Runner would be an aaaaawwwwwesome movie for you guys to make episodic content from and I'm sure others would agree!!! So many games copy Blade Runners look, ambience, and atmosphere, you guys could do wonders with that license!!!

I never got that much into Stubbs, but it was fun enough. BladeRunner I beat at least 3 times, with different endings everytime. I have it sitting here at my office, should play through it again.

Speaking of old xbox games tho, ever played Call of Cthulhu?? Bethesda of Elder Scrolls fame worked on it for about 5 years, came out right as the 360 came out so it didn't get any attention. Wonderful game tho, very atmospheric.

Have to agree with you there. I loved Stubbs the Zombie. Played that game to death on my old XP computer. Sadly, Stubbs will not work on my Vista 64 system.. :( I'm hoping maybe GoG will get ahold of Stubbs someday and fix it so it will run on newer computers..

The 40 minutes we spend filming these after work doesn't cut into dev time. That's not how reality works! The videos are made by people completely separate from the dev team, except for the actual part where we do the taping, which, again, happens pretty late at night on Fridays when we would normally be at home or taking a break.

One scene? Let's see... The one from the cop at the beginning, another one with the babysitter and the last one in the motel. There are a lot since being from "The walking Dead" universe. In the comics there are a lot of talking too.

I've only just started playing this game (late to the party as usual), but already it's lived up to expectations. To begin with I wasn't too sure how TTG would handle the oeuvre, but they've done themselves (and the source material) proud.

I'm just about finished episode 2 (kudos to whoever had the idea of putting that picture beside the door in the dinner scene), and looking forward to episode 3.

Oh, and well done for incorporating a platinum trophy into the game for us PS3 players. It ain't a big deal, but sometimes little things mean a lot.:)

So I forgot to write this.

Physical release, is good news. Sure is but you guys better get that game out by December. I want you to put another team on making the physical even more bug free, they should be doing that now as you release these later episodes. Then get certified in my country and bring the game here, when you do that, I will finally give up and just play the game. Next time round make sure you tell us whether or not you're going to release digitally here on consoles.

I can see it now paying $80 to a $100 for a $40 dollar game, this smells like a scheme to me. Starve two populations of a game so you can make a significant profit at the end of the year when games sell the most. Just sayin.

It's IGN! They whore out all kinds of exclusivity and other nonsense that just seems stupid. They're the people who convinced Bioware to put one of their journalists in Mass Effect 3 and then gave the game a really high score (yes it was a different journalist on that review but I still call conflict of interest on that). I'm sure they paid Telltale a buttload of money to get that stuff before anyone else, even Telltale! That's not meant as an insult to Telltale, but it is just most likely the case.

That means more than 3% of people tried to feed him and you can then multiply the number by 6.6 to get the proportionate amount.

Different Playing Dead episodes have premiered at different places. One went live first at GameTrailers, for instance. It's not a paid deal. Gaming news sites like to jar new content to debut, so they will give it good placement (eg a day on the homepage) in exchange for some exclusive time where they're the first place to have the video. It's slightly more annoying than the video going out to everyone at once, I agree, but I like the side effect it creates: people who wouldnt have seen it otherwise hear about the game and become fans.

Is there any possibility of saving Carley? I know it won't change anything now since Ben is alive, but if there's a DLC or a full game release on consoles then I'd prefer of there being an option of saving either Ben or Carley.

Like if Lee sees Lily taking out her gun then you only have a limited of time saving either Ben or Carley. If you save Carley then Ben would be killed by accident, but will reveal he was the traitor and you would have the option to buried him or leave him, leaving Carley to fill the void for Ben throughout the whole game

If the story replaced carley with ben then we would have ben getting shot because carley was the traitor...cant have it both ways. if carley is replacing ben she has to be ben like in that way. Thus now all the people who liked carley are like whoa bitch you did what?? lmfao:p

p.s. Carley shoulda thought better of what she said to lilly. Calling her a bitch a little girl and telling her to get the fuck over it...not so smart...seems batteries weren't the only thing holding carley back...her mouth was a problem too;)

Episode 2 starts 3 MONTHS after the events of Episode 1.
Episode 3 starts a week after the events of Episode 2.

I think from the second episode alone, is reasonable for a character to get killed off. It's not lazy writing. There's only five episodes. It's the zombie Apocalypse....someone HAS to die. Obviously the fact that you're complaining means that Carly/Dougs deaths left a impact and that's what TTG was aiming for. A reaction. Whether positive or negative. You can't save everyone. Sure it would of been nice for Carly to survive at LEAST until episode four, and Doug as well.. but you can't say you didn't see this coming.

It IS lazy.
Doug/Carly play little to no role in episode 2 and they get killed right at the start of ep 3.
It doesn't matter how much time there is between the episodes, we're not seeing any of it nor do we play it.
It's just obvious how the characters which are optional, these who would make a difference on the game, do appear as little as they can in the following episodes.
That's plain and easy lazy. That's not "the game is tailored by the decisions you make". It's "choose who dies now and who will play no role until he/she dies". It's lazy from a programming perspective. It's the easy way for TTG.
I'd have no problem with these characters being killed later in the game, if they just have had ANY impact on the course of the game until. Sadly, that's not the case.

I would like to see better crafted walkers- most of them are basic variations of the same type- if I see another walker in a blue team jacket, I'm gonna blow a gasket. The variations are pretty scarce, and there really should be fewer skeletal and more "recent" walkers, as in the comic and the television series.

I hear you, the deaths of Doug/Carley were unexpected (which is good), but I agree they had little impact on the actual story.

However, I still enjoy the game and hope that Telltale can make it so in future episodes or even in the sequel that when you choose a character to save that they have a larger impact later on.

I see this as a test. Telltale was seeing how the dynamic of the Doug/Carley situation worked and maybe make a similar, but, more inportant one later on.
