Help! Games recommendations :)

Hi, I'm currently a bit stuck for new games to play and wondered if anybody might have any idea what games I might like from the list of my favourite games below:

My favourite games
-Chrono Trigger
-Day of the Tentacle
-Monkey Island 1-3 & Tales
-Hotel Dusk
-Ace Attorney games
-Final Fantasy 4,6,7,9
-Sam and Max

I'm not great at point and click games but always loved them, I'm more in love with games with excellent and immersive storytelling and characters.

My favourite gaming genres are: JRPG, Point and Click and Interactive Novels.

Suikoden II is probably the most underrated great JRPG ever made.

If you like great story, The Dig is awesome. I'm not a fan of the puzzles, but loved the story.

Fate of Atlantis has a great Indie story.

The Whispered World has an awesome fantasy story even if the ending kind of is a letdown.

I really want to play Suikoden 2 but i dont think it was available in the UK when it came out :/ plus it's meant to be insanely rare and expensive.

Love Fate of Atlantis, that for me is the REAL Indiana Jones 4

I'd suggest Disgaea or the Persona series (3 is Nintendo hard with a decent story, 4 is a bit easier with an amazing plot, either is highly recommended).

Think I might grab the Persona games again or wait for 5, I have briefly played 3 and 4 but not for too long. I really like the games but just haven't got that into them as I was on my final student year and was borrowing them from a friend and just didn't have time to get really into them.

I just played through 9 Hours 9 Persons 9 Doors on DS. It was a VERY LONG GAME, but really engaging. Like it pretty much ate my whole weekend, I was riveted. Might not be for everyone, but I recommend it nonetheless.

On PC, I've been playing a LOTTTT of Q.U.B.E. which is so puzzley and awesome. Reminds me a lot of Portal, which is obviously a good thing.


Have you played Samorost 2? If you have an iPad, do you have The Witch by... elizabeth something or emily something... I don't have an iPad but I almost got it just to get that game, it looked phenomenal.

The puzzles can be ridiculous, but The Longest Journey stands out because it envisions a massive world. Normally in an adventure game you sort of sense your limits and narrative is strong but typically falls into the humorous category. Rarely outright epic. Longest Journey never restricts its boundaries, it keeps introducing you to an ever larger world, allowing you to travel to so many locations it's ridiculous. It has a scope few would aim for.

You'll also be pleased to know that hotel dusk got a sequel in europe/Japan called "Last window". Also, the Another code wii sequel is a fantastic game, much better than the first, so do check it out.

If you liked Hotel Dusk, you can import a copy of Last Window from Britan for about $30. Just keep in mind that you'd have to play it on an original DS or DS lite, as the new models are region locked. I got one imported, and it's a wonderful conclusion to the story.

I second that recommendation. It holds a special place in my heart, both because the game is awesome and because my little brother gave me a boxed copy of it when it first came out. Also, it's made by Norwegian Funcom.

No, it's a flash game, like Machinarium, so it's available for pretty much anything. If you liked Machinarium, you'll probably also want to play Little Wheel (very short), Alchemia and Faluz (I think) 1 and 2.

Just noting that this is not entirely true. I have a Japanese DSi, and it runs games from anywhere in the world just fine. The things that are region locked are (I believe): DSWare purchases, and DSi/3DS exclusive games, of which there are not many at this point.

To add to the list of recommendations, I would suggest The Book of Unwritten Tales. It's been recently released in English, and is quite excellent.

No, those are action games. The plot of those takes a back seat to platforming, shoot-outs and incredible setpieces. The developers even admitted they create the setpieces first, then string the game together around them, which does not make for a particularly gripping narrative.

Would recommend the Hector series (if you're into adult humour), The Longest Journey (if you're into epic adventures) and the Ben There, Dan That!/Time Gentlemen, Please! double-pack (if you're into hilarity).

You can't combine items in Loom either, but I think everyone here considers it an adventure game.

Not saying that Uncharted is/isn't an adventure game. I haven't played it, so idk.

OK. Here's a more apt comparison. The Uncharted series is basically the more recent Tomb Raider games with a male protagonist. If you consider the Core Design Tomb Raiders to be adventure games, then you'll think the Uncharted series is as well. You'll be wrong, but that's what you'll think.

What game is he talking about? Is he talking about Telltale's games? Adventure games? Games in general? Also, there are iPad games that have ports to PC or consoles. Is he talking about them? If so, which ones? And if he's speaking only of iPad exclusive games, how and why would he buy one if he didn't have an iPad in the first place, and subsequently why is he even asking?

I'm assuming that you already know of all of Telltale's games, since you're here. If you want some other good adventure games then try some of the Sierra adventure games like King's Quest or Space Quest, if you don't mind an extra challenge :) Also if you are willing to play non Japanese RPG's then try Planescape: Torment :) It is an excellent story driven RPG, and it is played entirely by point and click.

Well then, it depends on where you bought the games. You can play all of Telltale's games on PC, many of them on Mac, some of them on consoles, and a few on iPhone/iPad.

But again, it depends on where you buy them (ie. the iTunes App store, the PSN, the Wii Shop Channel, Steam, the Telltale Store here on this website, or in a retail store that sells games).

Like many other download distributors, if you buy a game from the Telltale Store (here), you can download and install the game as many times as you need (within reason), but you can also order a physical copy of the game on disc for free (plus shipping.)
