So like alot of individuals i try and keep up to date on TWD.

Yesterday i read somewhere on the internet that April 25th would be the release date for The Walking Dead on XBLA.

True? not True? i do not know just thought I would share my info with these forums.

To my knowledge, no official release date exists yet. Unless you've read a release date on this site, from the horse's mouth (i.e. blog/ actual TTG employees), treat everything as plain rumor.

Yeah that's telltale. They don't announce a release date until they are positive that will be the date.

We'll see that soon but that's not a official announcement. Until Telltale says anything about it, it's all rumours.

I'm well aware which is why I said I wasn't putting much stock in the date. I honestly can't remember the last time telltale gave an actual release date....might of been one for JP but that was a nightmare I hope we never have to go through again....on second thought maybe its better to have no release date....LOL

Don't let me stop you having fun. I mean, the date is more than likely the date that Telltale have at least planned to get the game out for. The only reason they don't actually say that is in case there are last minute problems which cause the release to be delayed in anyway. That is my reading and thoughts on the situation.

On FAQ it's still saying that you will enter the contest if you preorder in Telltale store ONLY. It doesn't say anything about Steam.

Either way I just enjoy what Telltale has been doing with the game industry. It is nice to have a company that makes unique games. I just picked up my issue of The Walking Dead Issue 96 and in the back is the ad for your game. However, instead of saying "Coming Soon" or something like that it said. "Download Now."

So after I finished reading 96, I saw that. Freaked. (Cause I've been quite excited about this game) Turned my xbox on and searched franticly until I used the search to look for it. And it wasn't there.

Little side note, don't know if you guys can affect the release date directly, but a neat idea would be doing it on Wednesdays. Think about it. It's based in the comic universe and new comics come out every Wednesday. It'd connect to the series on not only an internal but external level :D

Yeah highly likely it will be next week tbh. Telltale never give the exact date until the last minute.
In fact for one of the Back to the future episodes they didn't give a date at all, and there was a surprise release.
But yeah, they never normally give a release date until they are 100% sure they can make it.

It's happened more than once. I remember Episode 2 of Hector was released with absolutely no notice of the fact whatsoever. There wasn't even a blog post about it or anything.

I would lean more towards the 24th if Telltale released on traditional release days. That is a Tuesday. It either has to be the rest of this week, next week, or one of the two days the week after that. If it doesn't come by then I'm sure this place will light up like a Christmas tree. :) I'm actually leaning towards a surprise release for this first episode....

xbox and psn will almost always be a day late because they update their selections when they feel the need to not when the game itself comes out xbox normally faster probleby be midnight on the 25th if the game hits on the 24th psn not sure when they will release it they are normally a bit slower than xbox for some reason.and steam noticing on them it will be like 11 or noon of the release date like the 24th. telltale site problably be almost immediate because its their game and they dont gotta send it anywhere they just basically have to pop a switch and then its active.

In the past we had to wait in Europe always good 3-6 weeks to a Telltale game, regardless of whether Sam & Max Season 2 +3, back to the future or Jurrasic Park.

because Microsoft leaked the date by mistake on there website and has since been pulled down from xbox.com
and ps3 users might get it on the 25th or but i dont see it happening because psn does not update till monday/tuesday so im saying 30th or the 1st for ps3 users

As always, Sony's quality validation process - and their own release schedule ideas, especially for Europe - can make the PS3 release pretty unpredictable. There's only one thing that really helps.

For previous games, there's always been a delay between the US console (XBLA/PSN/WiiWare) release and the Europe / Australia / Japan release. It'll depend very much on Microsoft/Sony/Nintendo in those cases.

I'm just wondering if there is a set (or at least estimated) iOS release date. I'd much rather playing TWD on my iPad than my Mac but I also understand that the iOS version would have to get Apple's approval. So I'm just wondering if the iOS version is even completed and submitted to Apple for approval yet or is it still under development. If the latter than I'd just get the Mac version :P

Coming from the UK I was hoping that this game would at least have been released on the site at the same time as going active on Steam (6pm BST). I purchased here on the site and I'm rather suprised that the game is still unavailable here. Couldn't agree you more, i was skeptical to buy it from TTG but there was no news of it coming out on Steam so i bought it and supported it from the gecko this isn't right in any means you need to provide steam keys for us now or let us download the game now.

Couldn't agree you more, i was skeptical to buy it from TTG but there was no news of it coming out on Steam so i bought it and supported it from the gecko this isn't right in any means you need to provide steam keys for us now or let us download the game now.

The majority of the anger is not because of being unable to play it, but because of the principals behind being loyal to the developer and buying it from their own website BEFORE the game was close to being released and probably opening up some likely needed development revenue, and then finding out just a few days before release it appears on Steam AND gets released before those who chose the first option.

I would dearly love to play this tonight, but it is unlikely. I would have been able to if I'd bought from Steam. At the end of the day, I'm not really that bothered about the loss of game time, but I am bothered about the above principal being thrown aside by TTG.

I'm also pretty peeved off at this, but in reality guys, raging about it isn't going to change anything. Nor is digging into other forum members for trying to calm a situation down. The best way to show your dissatisfaction towards TTG is to not purchase their games from their website anymore.
If you are really only bothered about the principal of getting it late, just pretend you have it on Steam but are currently busy doing something else, or just do something else?
TellTale losing revenue from this situation is the biggest hit they will take.

Okay so I'm new to Telltale Games.
I preordered the game and all the episodes.
It appears on my game list when I click the little joystick at the top right.

Why is there no download link and why haven't I been emailed that it's come out today?
(I only found out because I saw it on Steam)

Then I find out a few weeks later that it's on Steam AND they have a release date?
Not to mention that you never told anyone on your actual website either. Everyone on the forums was clueless about when it was coming out and assumed Steam had it wrong. Obviously Steam had the right info.
Now it seems that people on Steam can download and play the game now and we the people who bought from the website are still waiting.

This is a really poor way to treat your customers, old and new. I'm fairly certain I'm not the only one to be disappointed by this.

You obviously don't understand the way Telltale operates. Every release is the same. It only gets released in office hours and telltale are on the west coast, so you've got to consider timezones. They never release an exact time because they are tweaking it and it gets uploaded WHEN it's ready.

The "moron" as you put it moved it here because this is the relevant topic for it. He is trying to stop "morons" like you from posting the same things others are posting over and over and puttng it all in one category.

That being said are you really regretting not getting the Steam version with the ton of problems people are having???! To me it is very obvoius steams version was rushed out the door and now people who bought that version are paying for it. Telltale has no control physically over a steam. If steam dropped the game to early that is on them not telltale. Everyone is already complaining about these bugs as if they are already playing the telltale version of the game. Those problems could very well be Steam specific and those problems fall on Steam. So please chillax until everything has run its course.

And there's missing polygons and glitches all over the place. Newest drivers, newest directx

The time there is 14:12, so they have a bit under 10 hours to get it out on the day they said that they would release it on. It'll be here in under that time unless a serious problem occurs. And also the version that they will release will most likely be the freshest build of the game. The PSN one will have been finished a few days ago to get it through the Sony approval process and the Steam one was probably submitted yesterday at the latest. Patient is a virtue that is sorely missing from the majority on release days.
