Direct 3D again

I get the 'you haven't got Direct 3D and load it to see this game' message. I have directX 9c running (and Half-life2 and Prey and others seem happy with it) perfectly well. The colour depth is 32, etc., etc. What is being sought for that is being missed and how might I correct this, please?

Hmm, that's strange. Could you post some details about your system, what operating system especially. You could try reinstalling DirectX. What game are you trying to play when you get the error? No one can help without more details.
