Problems with the PC Version (Steam)

Hey folks,

just download the game via Steam and got several issues.


Crash after changing settings in the Gameplay Menu, e.g. Subtitles on
Controls menu bugged. It is showing an Xbox Controller or some shit oO This is PC Version... What the fuck is a controler doing there -.-
Cant change Graphic settings. When clicking on something the value just doesnt change. Theres no response at all, it is like mouse clicking is disabled. Game is unplayable in standard resolution (1024x768)... I need my 1920x1200. Also clicking Apply or Cancel in that menu doesnt work


So any suggestions on fixing that?

Sounds like a steam overlay issue doesnt sound like the actual game to me. I have that issue with certain steam games. because they are in such a rush to get their games out they dont fine tune their overlay.

The Xbox controller isn't a bug. This, among many other games, supports Xbox controllers though USB. I plan on using one myself with a wireless adapter. Unless you mean it ONLY shows the Xbox controls? That would be an problem..

got steam version but game is not launching. Process walkingdead101 launches for a few seconds but then stops itself (no errors, in fact nothing is showing on my screen).

It indeed only shows the xbox controller. Here's my specs:

CPU: i5-2500K @ 4,5Ghz
GFX: 570 GTX Goes like Hell
MoBo: ASUS P8P67 Rev 3.1
RAM: 8 Gig DDR3 1066
Soundcard: Creative Recon3D
OS: Win7 Professional x64

All drivers up to date

yeah I get the same. I have tried reinstalling and verifying the files but still no luck, always get the error message: Walkingdead101.exe has stopped working

Cruel is a game being released on a 3rd party server before the loyal TT customers get it.

just go to the settings option and turn the controller off mine works perfectly fine.

For anyone having crashes, can you run this DirectX installer/updater:

DirectX Runtime Installer - Web Install (http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=35)

Or you can use this if you want one download for everything:
DirectX Runing Installer - Redist (http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=8109)

After running this, run the game again and tell me if that fixes the issue or not.

Win7 sadly doesn't ship with the latest DirectX runtimes, and I spotted the Steam delivery as not providing all permutations. That may be the reason, but I can't debug it without your help. Thanks in advance!

Restart fixed tghe crashes for me. However, I still cant map my keys... Only thing available in the controls menu is a big screenshot of an xbox controller -.-

I've got the same problem. Not so good when you've got a short time to press every key on the keyboard to see if you can do the thing you want to do before dying.

Anyone got a list of key controls they could share?

Why precisely can you not play with your mouse and keyboard? What sort of problem are you having?

no idea to map key or check what action is mapped to which key.

i can play until a certain point in the game:
right at the beginning i am able to get out of the police car, i can collect the shotgun shell, but then i can not put it into the shotgun.
i pressed every key on my keyboard, but no action shows up how to put the shell into the shotgun

is this related to the controller bug with the big xbox controller in the controls menu?

Well, I can tell you that the keyboard is only using for moving Lee around and for selecting options in conversations. Interacting with objects in the world is done solely with the mouse.

Ive not had time to actually play it yet, but wouldnt you have to pick the shotgun up first in order to load it? Im not trying to be smartarse or anything, just wondering.

Try exploring other aspects of the scene first.

im trying to play and the cut scenes freeze but i can hear the audio and when i try to click on things i have to click way right of the object to activate/grab it. its impossible to play on the hard settings because i cant see where i am suppose to click and aim far right to have the pop up option.

I think there's a bug there -- I had the same problem. Once you pick up the shell, Lee won't drop the shell, nor will he put it in the gun, nor will he be able to find the handcuff keys. I had to replay that scene and NOT pick the up the shell first.

does your mouse have a wheel ? cos thats used to scroll through the options

where as the xbox pad/ps3 i assume use the dpad to select reticle choices

After picking up the shell, I had to get the cuff keys from the dead cop and remove my hand-cuffs.

After doing that, you can then get the shotgun and load the bullet.

Sometimes you can only do certain things until you progress in a scene. If something doesn't work as you expect, try exploring other areas/objects.
