$15 instead of regular $30 price for a week.

(also includes the DLC)

GO GET IT!!! :D

Isn't that a Steamworks title normally (requires Steam)?
Also looking back at it I wouldn't really recommend it.

Vainamoinen

Yup, originally on Steam, now DRM-free. I might give it a try - not that many 3rd person games around these days...

It's interesting how GOG manages to finally get some more recent games (including "Assassin's Creed" even).

From GOGs facebook:

Alan Wake's American Nightmare will be available for pre-orders tomorrow!
The game will be available 10% off for $17.99, but if you purchased Alan Wake on GOG.com, the second part is 25% off--that's $14.99 for a game you are not allowed to miss.

EDIT: Either way, it looks like Alan Wake + American Nightmare works out about the same on GOG and Steam. (For the UK at least!)
(Save on core game on GOG, but American Nightmare is a little cheaper on Steam)

So essentially its DRM-Free GOG version vs Steam version.

ooooohh... thats a toughie for some.
(Not for me. Mind already made up!)

EDIT 2: Deal is up, and its price matching Steam.
(Which makes it the best deal! :D)

GOG Wins.

I wonder if GoG will get the later Assassin's Creed games, because the first one is the only one from the series that didn't have Ubi's proprietary DRM thingie.

Yes, yes, yes. If GOG starts picking up Ubisoft franchises only five years after their original release, there might be an itty bitty chance left that one day I'll play "Beyond Good & Evil 2" (as of now announced to be "in full production" again - for future CONSOLES though).

I'm still not sure whether I'll give the original Assassin's Creed a shot. The collecting in this game seems to be very limited, and when you collect all the irrelevant stuff, the internet tells me you get "an achievement". Ah, the ugly insubstantial cancer of consolification.

Ah well, let's wait for a Sale. After all, that's what this thread is for. :D

I'm still not sure whether I'll give the original Assassin's Creed a shot.

The original Assassin's Creed... well, technically speaking, the design of the first AC is kinda flawed. Perhaps even REALLY flawed. In that regards, the next games of the series are a lot better. But it's a different experience, and there's something missing in the sequels that was present in the first AC, and... I'm a fan of the series since the original game was released (despite its flaws), but I still miss that elusive 'something' that was present in the first game. It's hard to define what things are those exactly, but... for example, the first AC is the only game in the series that you can actually normally complete with the HUD totally off (and that's a really awesome experience, in my opinion). You can't do that in AC2/ACB/ACR because you go 'and now where the **** do I need to go?' very often if the HUD's off... and stuff like that.

The Zeus & Poseidon bundle is not two games, but Zeus and its expansion Poseidon.

Needless to say I grabbed the Quest for Glory bundle to see what everyone keeps raving about! XD

"Resonance" looks interesting, but the "retro-pixel-style" really isn't attractive to me. Why do this when with the least bit of effort, it could be done far better?

Might give this a try, though!

Second attempt today, disappointed again unfortunately. It's a nice game somehow, but I already mentioned the save system - and have now stumbled over this arcade machine mini game. Showed me a pattern to recreate once, for about 2 seconds. Consequently, I failed immediately, tried to die to restart (because, of course!, you don't get a second chance), and that didn't work. That's just sloppy design.

Game gets a third chance however. Hey, I'm a giver! :D

Okay. Well:
1. the patern is on the wall to your left (and to your right).
2. you can always just leave the room through the door for loosers behind you.
3. you can retry as many times as you wish by pressing the reset button. Default "O" (not zero)

(took me about 10 tries to get it right)

Bad points so far: Save system. Getting caught in the corners of the 1st level, unable to get out.

Edit: Found all four Rocks, the arcade, both tapes, the bullzeye achievement and the god on Level 1 now.

The problem I have with The Feeble Files (which I own on disc, so nya) is that the puzzles can be rather random. A good example is having to constantly use a broken vending machine so you get angry and hit it, which means your character feels the need to confess his 'sin', which allows you to enter a previously inaccessible confession booth. Not a terrible game, but there's too many puzzles like that for me to really get into it.

So, today on GOG, the releases are from some unknown adventure game developer called Telltale Games. They've got the first (http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/sam_max_save_the_world) and second (http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/sam_max_beyond_time_and_space) seasons of Sam and Max, as well as Tales of Monkey Island (http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/tales_of_monkey_island). Wowzers!

Telltale Games comes to GOG!

Sam and Max Season 1 and 2 for $11.99 a piece! (or $30 normally since they are 60% off)

And Tales of Monkey Island for $13.99 (or $35 normally since its also 60% off)

I already own these so its moot for me, but hey, if you don't have them, you have no excuse now! XD

EDIT: Got ninja'd! XD

Also it would be very nice if a certain website could, you know, match the extras for these releases *wink* *wink*

As far as I'm aware, this is the only way to buy the Seasons 1 and 2 soundtacks at this time. That makes these very much worth the glance, because the soundtracks for Seasons 1 and 2 are of amazing quality. Not only is the in-game music excellent, and not only is the music in the soundtrack not somewhat overly compressed like it is in-game, but the arrangements for the soundtrack are actually different than the ones in-game! They're actually arranged to be listened to, and they're actually really really nice.

Yeah, it'd be cool if we could get digital versions of all the soundtracks and developer commentaries on here as well. I have all the dvd's and soundtracks Telltale ever released, but it'd be nice to have digital versions as well (especially for those games that never got a physical dvd/soundtrack release). They did it for Jurassic Park, so maybe other games will have that as well in the future?

Also, a question for anyone from Telltale who might be reading this: some months ago Dan Conners was talking about a big redesign for the Telltale website. Is this still planned? I half-assumed the update to bring stuff like a better organized 'my games'-page, with a section for soundtracks and commentaries and maybe even an achievement-system (although that last one might be a bit unnecessary for a company focused on story games).

Geneforge 1-5 (http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/geneforge_15)
I've been a fan of Jeff Vogel's games for about 15 years, since I played an Exile 3 demo in 1997, that was about 1/3 of the full game, compared to the couple of hours game play that other demos were providing at that time.

You get all 5 games for $9.99 (-33% off for now), compared to £16.99 (about $26?) on Steam.

They were originally $20+ for each game, but Steam/Gog have allowed them to price their more recent games much lower + still make a living.

The last game came out in 2009.

If anything, they should fix that date to reflect the latest game in my opinion!

(Or have a 2001-2009 date or something...)

I own only the 5th one, and I haven't played it that much, (partly lazyness, partly the activation process of the DRM'ed version), but I thought I'd get the set.

Damn.Well, Mermaid and Majus slept at my place as well, so the only problem would've been that I had no mattress left ;) But: Maybe we can have another go at this year's GamesCom... I have no idea if Telltale folks are coming though.

I'd say, go for TIM. It's hella fun, and you get, like, four of the five released TIM releases?

I mean, SpaceChem is also decent, but, meh, it's not as fun as TIM. Where else can you use a bowlingball, a monkey and fireworks to turn on a computer?

It's funny that these polls go on for as long as they do, since there's usually a clear winner right off the bat. There's no way Psychonauts can win, since it was "pay what you want" about a month or so ago.

Given how cheap Psychonauts has been on Steam (and GOG? I dunno, not the biggest follower of stuff there), I genuinely think this deserves to go to Outcast. It's an amazingly ambitious game, and even if it's kinda slow paced and repetitive, it definitely needs more exposure.

Whoa, I remember playing Outcast back when it was released (and my PC couldn't handle it at full res). It was one of the most immersive games I've ever played... especially the incredible soundtrack by Lennie Moore and the voice acting (with Cutter getting Bruce Willis' german voice actor - in the German version that is, of course - which made it even more awesome) made this game something really special.

Laziness. Lack of skill. Laziness. Short development time. Laziness. Oh, and laziness.

A bit harsh. I'd say most of the blame has to go to the publisher who insisted on it being 3D in the first place, after it had already been designed as a 2D game.

There's no Sierra adventure games in the "Awesome Adventure Games (http://www.gog.com/en/promo/adventure_games_weekend_promo)" bundle at GOG.com.

They're missing the official remakes of Space Quest 1 and King's Quest 1, the EGA version of Police Quest 1, and SWAT 4 (your mileage may vary on whether this counts as a PQ game). Also, they don't have Leisure Suit Larry at all.

Multiple versions would be nice, but they're not really necessary. They'd just be added on as extras to the games that are up there anyway.

Leisure Suit Larry isn't owned by Activision, it's owned by Codemasters. That would require a whole new licensing agreement.

Also, note on your first point, Ultima is owned by Electronic Arts (whereas most of the Sierra series are owned by Activision). EA re-releasing the games they own has no bearing on Activision releasing theirs (or GOG.com for that matter).
