I find it sort of cool that all the commentaries mention the actor for Bosco. I mean, his voice stands out from the rest and he seems to be the only one who did voice acting for other big name games.

That opening solo is pretty nice, good to finally hear it. I also especially liked the part about needing a special camera angle to fit Jared Emerson-Johnson's name in the credits; it payed off though, that is a very nice shot :)
Anyway: yay, stuff! With all of this maybe we can actually keep the forum community together long enough for the next season to start.

About the commentary where you guys/girls, girls/guys, talked about how and why Brady Culture was so unpopular. It's kind of complicated. I didn't like him, no, but that's mainly because I hated "The Brady Bunch".
I thought he was a well developed and well done character, and you should all be proud of that. But I just... Really hated the Brady Bunch. Some people liked that show, the rest hated it. So you shouldn't be too upset about it.
More Culture Shock stuff is up (http://www.telltalegames.com/summerofsamandmax)! Concept art, Dave Grossman, Q&A, and the Play It Again stuff that you guys probably already read, since you love the forums so much :)

Great stuff, great stuff! Keep 'em coming!
I kinda liked more the other Sybil though. As for alternate Bosco, glad you changed him.
Or perhaps the jarring contrast between Sam & Max and other forms of entertainment. It could even have to do with bacteria, popular mass media

:D
Pre paranoid? Bosco is lame in ways he seems generic. Then again, it is a rough sketch.
Was that version of Bosco going to be crazy or was he going to be someone sport a fishermen's accent and speak pirate slang?
Was the sailor Bosco concept art drawn by Dave Grossman? I recall in the commentary how he and Purcell made the character up. Just that the rough sketch seems too sketchy for a professional artist. No offense, Mr. Grossman.
As for alternate Sybil, she doesn't strike me purcellish. I assume that version wasn't created by Purcell. Even though current Sybil is cool w/ me, after looking at the concept arts for Sybil, I kinda wonder if the tatoo chick from the lucasarts cataloge comic (the one who was giving Max a snake tatoo that looks like a candy can,) was ever in consideration to be Sybil. That chick is hot.

From the Q&A:
"The first episode is titled "Culture Shock". What does this title stand for?"
"(yadda yadda)...It could even have to do with bacteria...(yadda yadda)"
Intentional foreshadowing, perchance? :P

About the concepts - I think Bosco was always going to be crazy. Sailor Bosco was probably drawn by our art director. (And he probably never expected us to stick it up on the internet for critique. :p) The redesign was based on suggestions from Steve.
As for Sybil, she is pretty much 100% a Steve creation. Originally she was actually going to look like Myra (we have that sketch but are saving it for the episode 2 concepts). Steve wanted her to be younger and prettier, more appealing, since she would be a recurring character that players needed to like. The blue-haired girl with the jacket was what our art director came up with. Steve still didn't like it, so he sketched out what he thought Sybil should look like (the center pencil sketch -- where Sybil starts to look like Sybil -- was Steve's).

Ahhh. I have to agree with Purcell in not liking the blue haired Sybil. Like Sailor Bosco, she didn't seem to sport the Purcell's styilzed art. She doesn't seem to fit in with the rest of the cast. However, sailor Bosco seems to fit in more with Purcell's cast of characters. I can see sailor Bosco getting the purcell treatment and be used as a background character like say, a captain of the love boat or a waiter at a sailor themed restaurant

How about as a new character entirely in Season 2 when our favorite duo goes out to sea (or at least to the local dock)?

Early Sybil with big eyes and blue hair seems to have stepped out of an anime. She looks good nonetheless, but she doesn't really fit in the Purcell style.

They should just lock Brendan in the closet and make him work until 6am every day, including weekends. That way the rest of the Telltale staff can take the summer off and we can still get the first episode of season 2 on August 28th. Everyone wins! Well, except Brendan. There are also some sketches from the Future, that Steve hasn't drawn yet. The problem is, if Steve doesn't draw them at some point, all of the sketchbooks will turn into localized black holes, eventually destroying the fabric of space-time. If this happens, there will be no refunds.

Really? I've never had that problem with ScummVM before. I play through my collection of old LucasArts games (Zak, all the MIs, MM and DoT, Indy, etc.) at least once a year and haven't had any problems with any of them. I have more problems trying to get my old Sierra games to run. Alternatively, you can use DOSBox (http://dosbox.sourceforge.net/), which works well as well with any of the older games, including old classics like X-Com, but it takes a bit more technical know how.
I've seen Sam ans Max hit the road in store yeaterday in a new DVD case!!
Every once in a while I see an old game repackaged for sale. I think most recently I saw the CD version of Quest for Glory 4 in a Wal-Mart. I've also seen the various old Sierra and LucasArts collections from a decade or less ago on sale within the last year. I have to resist the urge to buy them even though I already own all the games included. Still looking for a copy of a CD I got with one of the collections I bought a decade or so ago that had a bunch of little neat Star Wars stuff on it like screensavers with little a little animated Darth Vader and Obi-Wan going at it and a rebel clock and empire clock screensaver and stuff. Wish I could find a copy of it or my CD. I found the CD a year or two ago and it still worked on WinXP.

I found a battered and still boxed Full Throttle in the bargain bin in an EB here in Georgia a couple of years ago. No idea where it came from. The mall the EB is in wasn't even built until half a decade after the game was released. Who knows what treasures lurk in the dark recesses of the the Electronics Boutique bargain bin?

Seems like I ran my copy of Sam & Max (the original) on DosBox v.70. I might have used ScummVM to run it though, I'm not sure...
In an EB located in the US?
Technically, EB and GameStop don't carry used PC games anymore. I know any locations I've been to around me stopped mid 2006. Recently (the last month), someone over at AG from the US was talking about getting used PC games at EB. I don't know if those are franchised so maybe it's a company policy that not every franchisee adheres to.
I may have missed the entire gist of the conversation. If so, ignore the above. Thank you and have a nice day. :)
Technically, EB and GameStop don't carry used PC games anymore. [/size]The one close to my house doesn't in the technical sense of having self space for it. What shelf space they do allot for PC titles is shared with their shelf for used DVDs, but both ends of that shelf have titles that generally suck. Their PC game titles are mostly tycoon games people tried and were (not surprisingly) disappointed with like Spring Break Tycoon.

sad news here.. this is false,
It just depends on the store and size. Were mall sized stores couldnt cope with the new consoles old consoles and pc they started lowering and sometimes omitting pc games due to space. But go down the street to a huge ebgames.. say the one in San Francisco near "cioppino ont the wharf" off jefferson. It has everything since it has space. There are no known sketches of Moo Hoo Man. He will forever remain a mystery. :(
I heard news that Moo Hoo Man was being discussed on here so I thought I could help shed some light on the mystery. He was a sort of cow/devil hybrid with claw hands.
I was able to dig up a few panels in which Moo Hoo Man thinks he's getting crapped upon by a bird. A villain (either Quincy Courtjester or Joe the Jogger, who Sam and Max eventually arrest) is actually above Moo Hoo, climbing on a limb.
http://www.orangezest.com/images/moohooman.jpg
I left out the rest of the panels because they're so poorly drawn you can't tell what the hell is happening.

Woah!! Where in the world did you get that? :/ Are you Steve undercover? Not that you would answer that. ;) I think Moo Hoo Man should make an appearance or have a part in the future. :) It looks more like a pig/bat/demon/lobster/sasquach hybrid then the cow/owl/human I predicted. :p
Update: Hey, that's David Purcell's website! Are you David, or did you just link there? :/

I didn't know they use the word "crap" back then. Oh wait, I did. My bad.
If you are David Purcell (most likely you are since the website where that image comes from is under construction,) you should reinvent with your brother and TellTale.
I mean you can recreate the character into a hot chick since the Devil/Cow combo seems so fitting. Man, I think I watch and look at too many hentai/adult content. LOL

This is one robust piece of software. Found the CD yesterday and Star Wars Screen Entertainment still works perfectly on Windows Vista. A couple of the things seem to have some problems with the faster clock, but the good ones all work well.

Fox wasn't right for Sam & Max anyway. You always want to try to appeal to the largest audience as possible, but a lot of little kids watch Fox. Sam & Max are naturally quite violent, and they should be. Personally I liked the cartoons despite the PG rating. If Steve ever wanted to someday, I'm sure he could get a spot on Cartoon Network.

I just watched the blooper reel on my shiny new Season One disc, and it's totally awesome. It had me in stitches the whole way through. Believe me, there's good reason they censored it (they even had to pixellate one scene). But trust me, there's one blooper in there that you literally won't be able to stop laughing at, mostly because it's so unexpected...

Super-Manic Spinotron was the perfect example for why the vid had to be censored, along with the spoon-bending bit, but I was more referring to the blooper involving the duo examining a certain set in the TV studio. (Don't want to give it away for those who haven't seen it.) That one made me literally ROFL...
And on that note, I have to ask...about how many of the bloopers were scripted, and how many were actual behind-the-scenes bloopers?

New stuff's up, but super late! Apologies to all who felt sad to not receive this week's updates two days ago. Things have been getting hectic around here with Comic-Con and the office move, but they're returning to normal now!
I'm not upset about not getting my content on time. I'm more upset over the fact that there are some people who have already seen what I've been waiting for because they ordered the DVD separate from the case file.
But I'm a good customer. I'll wait.
The whole casefile issue was caused by a shipping delay totally out of our hands the week before comic-con. We intended to have all of the materials there that week so we could start sending them off, but a few items from one vendor got delayed to the point that they had to be shipped straight to San Diego for us to hastily put together the first couple hundred at the booth. It was bad and awkward, and won't happen again if we do another Case File type thing. That shipping hiccup has ended up sabotaging a lot of our work and spare time, and has made lots of people sad because their disc is late now :(.

I reckon the blooper reel just boosted the games to an "M" rating :P Hilarious!

Only on the TTG release. I don't think the retail version has any of that on their CDs, which is was is important. You know, kind of like how studios can release unrated versions of their movie.

I doubt it would have actually boosted the rating anyway, if anything would have done it, it would have been the unicorn jokes :P

On a TV or movie DVD, the bonus features are usually not included in the rating.

Good point. Still, ya never know, what with the Manhunt 2 thing and all, it seems the ESRB would LOVE to find an excuse to "establish" itself among the Thompsonites by banning or excessively up-rating games.
(I'm only half-joking, this Manhunt debacle really grinds my gears.)

I love the Lincoln flying to the moon render, as seen on the DVD! Any chance we can get a hi-res version of this suitable for desktop wallpaper in next week's Summer release? Or even better, add it to the wallpapers page. Thanks!
I concur. That Lincoln render is awesome.

If anything they need to add a wallpaper of Hugh Bliss from Episode 6 floating down from being in the lunar lander. Most ridiculous thing ever.
I keep meaning to get a screenshot of it.

I just got the DVD edition in the mail today and watched the bloopers on the disc and it is indeed 100% the same as on the site.

Are the swear words bleeped out on the DVD edition too?

It makes them funnier. Everything's funnier with a bleep in the middle of it.

Is there any video of the actors in the studio recording? Perhaps on the retail "making of" video?

There was a little bit of footage of David Nowlin recording in one of the Interim Theatre videos (the Bay Area Sound Department one)

The exact same mind-blowingly perception-altering awesome bloopers.

Wow, you're right!
Indeed she is, Timmy! An artfully placed series of bleeps can make any collection of random words sound explicit. Let's experiment, shall we?
Case 1: Random words, No bleeps.
Old egg fries deeply with yellow jazz phones.
Doesn't sound very offensive, does it, Timmy? ("No, Dr. Filange!")
Observe...
Case 2: Random words, with a helping of scattered bleeps.
Savory *bleep* morsels dance wildly *bleep* *bleep* *bleep* southern baptist *bleep* toaster *bleep* *bleep* fitted cap on sideways *bleep* Pepsi sponsors *bleep* oddly-shaped *bleep* *bleeeeeeeeeeep* and a dash of salt *bleep* spartan costume.
See? You got yourself an NC-17 rating, sir!
This has been a public service announcement from Dr. Herschel Philange.

I agree. I heard an uncensored version of a song callded Piece of *Bleep* Car once and it just wasn't as funny with the real swear words in there.
