Good Omens by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman. That book was written to be a movie. I'm certain of it.

Nothing to add right now. "The Selected Works of T.S.Spivet" is already being picked up for a movie version. Although these bastards decided to give it a new name. :D

The Art of War. I think a movie about Sunzi's career as a general and how it influenced his philosophy and tactics in warfare would be absolutely fascinating.

I like it as told by the Soldier (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jcH8WPds_qU) the best.

They should at least make Star Wars: Death Troopers into an animated movie.

I've been mulling this over but I don't want any of my favourite books to be turned into movies. I was so excited for the Hitchhikers Guide film and it was so dissapointing.
That said the Discworld TV movies have been getting gradually better, Going Postal was actually really really good.
Anyway I want them to make a good movie of Stark by Ben Elton and keep it set in the 80's, none of this contemporary treatment malarkey

This is likely to never happen, but a true adaptation of A Stone for Danny Fisher. I mean, sure, I loved King Creole, but aside from the names and the overall story, it had nothing in common with the book.

I'd like a REAL adaptation of the Inheritance Saga by Christopher Paolini. That awful movie of Eragon doesn't count at all.

You do realise there was a TV adaptation of Stark, starring Ben Elton... I think that's all I've seen, I haven't actually read the book :)

I remember when I was really liked those books as a kid, they anounced they were going to make a movie around the time Harry Potter was really popular and they were making films from pre-teen novels to cash in. I think Richard Curtis might have been some how involved but I don't really remember.

The Passage by Justin Cronin :) I know that the rights were already sold to a film studio at some point, but I've not heard anything else about it!

Storm Front by Jim Butcher
The TV series of the Dresden Files isn't bad. In fact, I loved it. I'd just like something that's an actual adaptation of the books.

So it looks a "Thousand Splendid Suns" by Khaled Hosseini is being made in a couple of years. I would also like the Bone franchise to be converted into movies.

Supposedly in the works, but I'm super dubious about the insane amount of pop culture-referencing remaining intact. Even if they could afford the rights to the numerous video games, films, and music HEAVILY featured in the story, I doubt Lord Lucas is gonna allow images of kids landing Millennium Falcons in the parking lot of their virtual high school.

They interviewed Ernest Cline on Sword and Laser a short while ago, and he said that the movie version will definitely have to make some changes based on what movie/game/music rights they can get. But yeah, it's a fantastic book and I think the movie will be good even if they have to change some of the references.

There aren't enough bills in the universe to wave under that shnozz. Besides, laughable though it may seem, I think "integrity" will prevent us from ever seeing a Star Wars character or object outside of a Star Wars product. Ready Player One is going to need Wreck-It Ralph-level scratch to get anywhere close to its source material.

Well shit, minus 2 internets for me I guess. Still, anything we can see without freeze-framing? After all, I brought this up in regards to the viability of a Ready Player one film.

Consider myself thoroughly trounced, humbled, and out-nerded. Head bowed, I skulk back into the shadows, lurking, machinations of revenge reflecting and refracting wildly on my shattered ego, like so many flashlight beams on a blood soaked crime scene. [/melodrama]

As I said, all it takes is the right amount of cash dangled in front of Ol' Flannel Shirt and he'll say yes.

I hate to keep beating the same drum, but this is the most egregious i've seen yet.

There's a whole campaign of these on top of print and billboard ads. It sickens me and I don't even like Star Wars.

Mort- I have always wanted to see this Discworld story adapted for film. Although, there have been a few misgivings about it since its focused on the death character. Last thing I remember about this booking being adapted was that they wanted to remove Death. Which didn’t please the author. Kinda completely missing the point there. I remember hearing something about Disney being interested in adapting the book for their animated canon, as a 2D film, but they didn’t get the rights to it.
The King's Damosel- I want this to be made as a 2D animated feature. I refuse to believe that Quest of Camelot served as an inspiration to this book. All Camelot ever was, was an obvious quick cash-in on Disney’s animated features as well as people mimicking the daylights out of Disney. I want to see a faithful adaption of this book, with a PG13 or even close to an R rated rating. Not an awful Disney cashin that is the definition of suicide.

Personally I'd like to see more Jack Ryan books be turned into films. I like all of the ones done so far, and I don't really care about the age in-continuity. Would never happen but I'd especially like to see Debt of Honor & Executive Orders adapted.
More realistically, and sticking with Tom Clancy I'd pay to see a film of Rainbow Six. I'd pay even more to see Red Storm Rising especially if the time it was set in wasn't changed (it is my favourite book of his).
I live in hope that the film & TV adaptations of The Dark Tower series goes ahead. It's an ambitious idea, but it's also an ambitious series of books.
Also there are a few Dean Koontz books I wouldn't mind seeing adapted (if done well, but I guess that's true for any adaptation), specifically From The Corner of His Eye and the Odd Thomas series. Actually, strike the last I just remembered that there is an upcoming adaptation of Odd Thomas.
