Just ordered mine! Was I first, was I first? :)

International shipping, is it by air or ship, seemed to be the only option for international customers.

Emily

International shipping is of the regular postal variety. It's supposed to be priority and take 10-14 business days but sometimes takes longer to Europe for reasons that we and our ecommerce guys don't fully understand.

We turned off the international UPS because we knew from past experience that UPS, $0 products, and customs don't mix well. (Also international UPS shipping is much more expensive, so very few of our customers were using it.)

I have a question, I just paid for the shipping for my free disc(already bought the whole game last year) now my problem is that I would like to get 2 t-shirt but when I go to check out, I have to pay for the full shipping cost instead of combine postage, how can I make it so I only need to pay for the combine postage not 2 full shipping cost?

Emily
06/26/2007, 04:28 pm
What are you seeing for shipping? I just did a test for Melbourne and am seeing $13.95 for shipping for the disc and two t-shirts. Shipping is charged by weight but it's one initial cost plus an incremental cost for additional items. If you ordered each of these items separately you'd probably be charged $9.95 shipping for each order.

If you're saying that you already placed an order for the disc and now you're trying to place a second order for the shirts, you need to order them all at once to get the combined shipping. If that's what happened, PM me with the order number for the disc by itself and I'll see if we can cancel that so you can order again with all three items together.

My order number is 4685378600, I already paid $10.95 for it via PayPal.

Holy-moleman-ly! I really didn't expect to see the Season 1 Soundtrack to go up there as well, and I'm SOOOOO happy that it did. Unfortunately the store seems to be a little overrun right now (I'm getting some nasty DigitalRiver error-message), so I have to wait until tomorrow to spend SICK amounts of money. After all I couldn't hold myself back, so I did it... I've ordered my S1-DVD in spite of the HORRENDOUS shipping costs. But since I've also ordered another DVD for my brother, and loads of goodies (Soundtrack, baby, yeah!), shipping "reduces" to only a fraction of that.

I hope the stuff really gets sent out in late July (or earlier than that), or it'll be too late for it to arrive in time for my brother's birthday.

One question regarding the soundtrack-set: Is it going to be in a simple cardboard-envelope, or will it get a jewel case? If there's still time: Make Jared and Steve throw together a booklet... use violence if necessary!!

Thanx Telltale! Now I have to work some extra hours to have enough money for the 72$ I just spend on Sam&Max goodies :D I kid... I really enjoy spending money in the Telltale store, knowing it's going to some very nice people that make really great games, and after some rather horrid experiences with game companies like ea or atari I feel really good knowing that you guys get my money and not ea or atari :D Oh and the case file goodies are great, nonsensical and totally unnecessary but I love em! Also ordered the soundtrack and like Laserschwert I hope it will come in a nice jewelcase with some nifty booklet :D

One Bonus Disc, one Ode to the Stuff in the Sink(Grossman-poetry is my kind of poetry) and one S&M Crossbones t-shirt ordered and paid for. As soon as I get my hands on some more money, an order for the case file and the soundtrack will hopefully be placed as well. :D The bonus disc seems divine, but then again, everything related to Sam & Max in one way or another is divine as well...

S&M is a lifestyle. Don't get me wrong. :D

Very cool :D just bought mine plus the case file :D :D unfortunately i still suffer from having my paypal acct. on a different email acct. so i may need to get the account that *may* have been created during checkout (i cant remember whether or not i unchecked the create telltale acct. box as i messed up during my first attempt)merged with my existing telltale acct.

Im not too worried about this at the moment as you guys must be really busy at this point helping others with real problems :p

also oddly enough i only got a paypal reciept and not the order info email but my isp is notorious for not letting a lot of my commercial emails through *darn*

Eagerly awaiting my surprise package in August (along with the Babylon 5 Lost Tales DVD which should arrive at a similar time!)

Question:

I'm canceling the PA bank account that I used during college any day now, but I'd like to pay for this with my debit card while I still have it, since it's easier. If I order this tonight, how long after should I wait before canceling my account? I'm just worried because of the "late July" thing and all.

boltronics, I just sent you a PM.

Unfortunately the store seems to be a little overrun right now (I'm getting some nasty DigitalRiver error-message), so I have to wait until tomorrow

What was the error message?

so i may need to get the account that *may* have been created during checkout (i cant remember whether or not i unchecked the create telltale acct. box as i messed up during my first attempt)merged with my existing telltale acct.

No problem, just send an email to support@telltalegames.com with the email addresses and we'll link them up. Also we can look up the order you didn't get a confirmation for and make sure it went through okay.

What was the error message?

After a couple of tries the checkout worked (the error message was "
com.digitalriver.util.xform.TransformException: Error adding line item"), but I still got the problem of only one "boxed shipment" of the bonus-disc appearing in my overview after purchasing the stuff. I've ordered both the free one (since I've pre-ordered the season) and another "new" one (as a present), but the latter one only appears as dowloads, and without a second "boxed shipment" of the DVD.

I've sent an e-mail to the support about that though.

Emily
06/26/2007, 05:24 pm
I think I just responded to your email (or someone else is having the same problem...)

The problem is that you're trying to get two free discs in one order (the $0 one and the one that's bundled with the $34.95 season). We didn't anticipate that. We're going to try to fix this tomorrow - so anyone who's trying to order two Season 1 discs in one order, please hold off for now, and once we get this fixed we'll work with you to make sure your original orders still work as coupons for the free disc.

Very awesome. Just ordered mine.

That said, I was suprised at the 6.80 shipping - I know when I mail a DVD-case sized thing domestically it's usually just $3-$4. Did they super-boost postage rates?

It's going to be something like this (http://www.bullseyedisc.com/Digi8p2t_detail_500.jpg). No booklet, sorry, but we went for the classiest 2 disc "deluxe set" packaging we could find. Also, as mentioned, it's got a cover illustrated by Steve, as well as some brief composer's notes from Jared. It's turning out to be a classy affair.

I was afraid it would be something like the "Grim Fandango"-soundtrack, but a Digipak is great, especially with a double fold-out to provide lots of space for Steve's artwork. Nice choice, really looking forward to it!

SWEET!

I've already ordered my copy of the DVD, and I'll probably end up getting the soundtrack soon as well. And rightly so, I might add.

Not only is the music awesome, it's also serves as all-purpose background music. I can't count how many times someone has asked me to set up music for a PowerPoint show of family photos, to which I responded by by plugging in my iPod and cranking up "The Office", "Consecutive Office", "Quiet on the Set", or one of the many other tracks. You can imagine how much I've been using them considering that it's currently graduation party season, mine included...

Mine said that there was a "Backorder Warning". Is this just a system artifact of the distant "release" date, or is the DVD indeed backordered already? Here's the exact message:Backorder Alert! One or more items in your cart are currently backordered. Your order will ship once all items have become available, but any downloadable goods in your cart will still be available immediately.

Also, I was somewhat disappointed that you couldn't see how much shipping would cost for the different carriers until checkout, and then you couldn't easily go back and change it.

The DVD is backordered in the store... that's what it's called when there's no product to ship :)

Emily
06/26/2007, 09:34 pm
Haha, yeah, the DVD was never actually frontordered. :D It's still in manufacturing.

Soup - you should be fine. I'm fairly certain we'll order more if we run out in a month.

Regarding shipping - you should be able to just click the back button from the confirmation page, go back one page, change your shipping option, and then click forward again...? Not the sexiest, but I've done it several times in tests and it's worked.

For reference, for the disc alone (domestic), it's ~$6.80 for USPS, ~$8.50 for UPS, ~$17.50 for next day air... and I'm not sure about 2-day air, but I'd guess somewhere between the UPS and the next day. :D International, USPS is the only option and it's around ~$8 to Canada and $10 to other countries.

It'd be easy enough for us to list the estimated shipping costs for the disc somewhere on the site... maybe we can do that tomorrow. It's hard to list estimates for carts with additional merchandise, though, since it varies by weight.

No, it will definitely not ship by then. If you're leaving the country, the best thing to do would be for us to cancel the order and you can place a new one with the correct address. Please email support@telltalegames.com with your order number and we'll take care of it for you.

Well done Telltale, all I wanted to do was pick up my "free" DVD but bunged the casefile, a t-shirt and the sketchbook into the cart too. Damn you!

Shame Digital River just gave me "There was a problem with your order. Please try again" at the end. Those guys need to get some meaningful error messages, I'd be unemployed if I left messages like that in my programs.

And choosing to pay by PayPal goes to a page at PayPal asking for all my details anew, not giving me an option to log in to my existing account there :(

Will give it a couple of days and try again, as I guess the system's a bit busy just now anyway.

Isn't that a little deceptive to put out an email saying that it is finally here, that we can get it now, when it is not here and we can't get it now, its just back ordered? And its still be manufactured. What kind of wild crazy roller coaster are we on here?

Unless you ordered a tshirt or something at the same time, you probably didn't, since the original Season Set bundle didn't have any hard goods in it, just electronic ones. Shipping is only added by the checkout system when it has something to ship.

Isn't that a little deceptive to put out an email saying that it is finally here, that we can get it now, when it is not here and we can't get it now, its just back ordered? And its still be manufactured. What kind of wild crazy roller coaster are we on here?

It's being pressed by crazy DVD robots in a factory in southern California somewhere, as I type this! We waited until the discs were done and approved, and being physically printed before we opened the page for ordering. Most people wanted to order them from us last month! But we didn't feel comfortable taking orders for something that we didn't even have an approximate ship date for, since at that time the packaging and disc menus and stuff weren't even done. Now we know that it'll be "a few weeks" from after the disc printing process starts, and that's close enough.

Emily
06/27/2007, 07:09 am
We should have worded the subject line of the email differently. I apologize for that. I thought that since it says on the store page that the discs aren't available yet, that was clear enough, but people are seeing the email and breezing through the process and missing that point.

We unfortunately can't turn time back a day and rewrite the emails, but we're going to try to make it clearer in the store that this is the situation.

Extra shipping? I'm sure I paid shipping the first time I ordered the DVD collection. Ah well...

Nope, you didn't. :p This is the first time that the disc (and associated shipping) has ever been in the store.

Why are international packages charged tax?

Also, could I just confirm if this includes all season 1 episodes on a DVD, along with the bonus disc?

$10US doesn't really justify the cost of a bonus disc for me, at this stage

Emily
06/27/2007, 08:20 am
Whether or not tax is charged is based on where you live. It's not something we have any control over; it's calculated automatically by our ecommerce provider based on your address.

And yes, the disc contains the games AND video content. :)

Kaldire
06/27/2007, 08:20 am

Emily

If I put a DVD, a soundtrack, and a case file into a padded envelope and mailed it to you out of our office, it would cost about the same amount. :) I mail *a lot* of stuff so I know what it costs, and these shipping/handling prices are pretty reasonable. (Also don't forget that the cost of the envelope itself and the labor of the person stuffing the envelope are rolled into the shipping charge.)

Lucky you; the last I remember were with Crusader: No Remorse!
About the VAT: is there any way you could give people a heads-up about that a bit earlier on? I know I felt quite sucker-punched back when I ordered Season 1 and saw the price suddenly rise in one of the final stages of checkout (even months later I can still fondly recall the annoyance..:)). Even if it's only some fine print to the extent of "sales tax may apply on international orders", that would help soften the blow.

Emily
06/27/2007, 10:08 am
Yeah, messaging the tax better is something we'd like to do. Unfortuantely the site transfers from us to our ecommerce provider before the customer fills out their location, so it's a little tricky. We would have to tell you three screens before you get to the confirmation that you *might* be charged tax. Even if we said that, a lot of people would skip right over it. :p

Oh re the tax, it's likely customs related. Customs is a bit of a bitch about importing anything and often you end up paying tax on it. DVDs and Games are the worst hit, so yeah... that's likely the reason. Companies can't do squat about it unfortunately.

Ahhh the grail diary, I have that somewhere.. and the book of patterns from loom (eee!), wish I had the newspaper from Zak mckraken though, ahh well. Why don't they ship cool things anymore!? they made the gaming experience oh so much better! wait.. GTA San Andreas has a guidebook as the case, I suppose that counts.

Great. Now I just regret the order I made this morning. Was on the way out the door placing the order and didn't get around to noticing the soundtrack or extra goodies.

Any way for me to order these and have them merged with the mailing of the bonus disc. E.g. Not wanting to pay shipping twice?

Personally I'm quite happy you charge VAT in the store. Should hopefully make customs go a lot smoother. Even from within the EU I've had trouble with stores which didn't charge VAT for Denmark. Happened to my Shrek 2 DVD. Meant it got delayed for about a month and a half in customs, and the danish post service charged me ~$10 to get it through customs and charge me the $3.50 of VAT I had to pay.

Emily

How can something be sold out if it is in the process of being made?:p
Telltale has a team of renegade scientist/marketers. Hourly, they cross the einstein-rosen bridge and travel to the day that production ceases on the first batch of discs. And also to see the future stock market

In this way, they know exactly how many will be made and thus can tell when something is sold out.

P.S. Buy TellTale stock. They're gonna be huge!

Emily
06/28/2007, 06:13 am
The backorder message is automatic through our ecommerce provider. We can't turn it off. So the system sees the item's not in stock, and thinks "it must be backordered," and out that email goes. I'm working with DR to rewrite it to something more user friendly.

But yeah, it doesn't mean the discs are sold out. They just haven't reached the warehouse yet because they're still in manufacturing.

So is there any chance I will miss out on these disks? I have literally no money at the moment but will have the cash by next week. Is there any chance the disk will be sold out by then or will you just keep making copies till you sell out?

Also, is the DVD video disk region free? And are the games on the disk copy protected in any way? Will I need the CD in to play or connect to the internet?
Just I am sure my mum would appreciate being able to play these games on holiday but our laptop doesn't have any sort of networking stuff.

If you buy now with a credit card, you won't be charged until the disc ships in late July, if that helps.

OK,Just Ordered the Disc, and Cant Wait to get it, but 2 quick questions if thats OK

I live in England, and while I know you can deliver wordwide to anyone, I was just wondering how long roughly it will take for the disc to arrive when its been sent

I've ordered the Case File thing that fits in the DVD cover which sounded really cool, but it says its not available yet, so any ideas when exactly it will be available, and will you be sending it with my dvd or seperate???

Cheers, and Thanks again :)

It'll all show up in one order. Orders to the UK can sometimes take many weeks (we've heard up to 4), but also sometimes they don't take that long at all! It's a roll of the dice, really.

DrakeFox

Is there a way to ensure that the dice roll is about as random as you beating Leonard in episode 3?

I'm guessing the possible delay might be in customs or something.

Thanks Jake, I was obviously expecting it to take a while when it does get sent, and I dont mind waiting for it, but just wanted to get a rough idea of when I should be expecting it, thats all
I dont think I should be affected by customs or anything though, its well below the legal customs limit before charges so it should pass through easily. Oh Well, will soon see

Well I've got my code and I'm ready to get the DVD, only I'm going on holiday at the end of July!

I live in the UK and I'd rather not order the DVD until I'm sure I'm going to be around when it gets here.

So if I order the DVD when I return home in mid-August, do you think the DVD will still be available, and will the special offer still be on?

The DVDs are supposed to ship from the manufacturer to the warehouse on Friday. It'll probably take 7-10 days for them to get there and to show up in the inventory system. My guess is that orders with just DVDs or that have other in-stock merchandise will ship the week of the 23rd.

The soundtracks and case files are a little bit farther behind. Soundtracks will be shipping to the warehouse on the 24th. Case file materials are all being sent to Telltale's office from various vendors, and we will then have to assemble them and ship them to the warehouse. I'm hoping we'll be able to send a batch before Comic-Con (which would get them to the warehouse at about the same time as the soundtracks), but if that turns out not to be possible, then orders with case files in them probably won't ship until first week in August.

Oh, and as an added bonus, the Bone director's cut CDs are finally being manufactured! We're getting them shipped directly to Comic-Con, and will send a batch to the warehouse right after we return from San Diego.

Okay: I may already know the answer to this question, but I'll ask anyway just to make sure:

When I ordered the DVD edition, I also ordered the Max & Crossbones Hat and Sam & Max Sketchbook (plus the soundtrack and Case File :D). I assume that since I haven't recieved the hat and scetchbook that they won't ship till the other stuff is available. Am I right about that.

To tell the truth I was kinda hoping that the hat and book would come seperate but I can understand why it's coming all at one time.

BTW I just love your order recieved e-mails. :D

"We love you. Why?
You bought some stuff!

Not that we wouldn't love you just as much if you hadn't bought 5 whole things from our store." (some stuff omitted because I'm supposed to not tell the others. ;))

Jake

Yeah, since you have a not-yet-available thing in your cart (the disc), everything is sitting in the warehouse in a bundle with your name on it, waiting for that disc. Or, at least, something like that is happening.

Case file stuff started showing up today! We got a box stuffed with Greetings from the Moon postcards. They're awesome! Hopefully the other stuff should be pouring in in the near future. (then I can update that "coming soon" image in the store)

175 boxes, with multiple copies inside each box. We'll take a picture when they get here. I'm thinking we should build a fort. :D

And that's just what's coming to us. A lot more are going to DR.

Soundtracks will be shipping to DR early next week. Unfortunately we are not going to be able to assemble case files before Comic-Con (in fact, some of the innards are being shipped to us directly in San Diego), so those won't ship until August. Sorry, we tried. :(

I haven't even popped the DVD in the drive yet and I'm already impressed with the humor in the insert. The bit about the Warp Drive was an inspired addition.
I notice a Flint Paper ad on the back page...a portent of things to come, or just a nod to the roots? Only time will tell, I'm sure.

I got my copy in as well and am really blown away at how polished it is. I was expecting something very minimal but telltale really outdid themselves here. I particularly have been enjoying the commentaries with the sound guys because I love soundtracks and hearing composers talk about them.

However, I do have a couple of places where I would like to give some constructive criticism. Firstly, while I did like the concept art montage I thought a standard gallery like most commercial DVDs would have been much more effective as we would have had a chance to really look at the art at our on pace. Also I personally would have liked it if all the shorts had also been on the DVD in an iPod format. However, with a little time I can convert them all to .m4vs so it's a very minor complaint.

I'm very impressed to say the leased and look foward to shelling out my money for Season 2, fully confident that I will get my moneys worth, and then some! Keep up the good work all you great people at Telltale!

In addition to the previous two, I found a couple of Easter Eggs (Yarr!, Exacto Steve, UnMonkeys, and Rats! to be cryptic about their naming) by browsing to them directly in Windows Media Player, but I'm not sure how one would go about getting to them from the menus. (Perhaps you have to wait somewhere?)
On that note, however, terrific job on the DVD. The full-motion menus are fantastic, and the Extras are extremely well put together.

My question to Telltale is why people who buy S&M Season One in a regular get a better deal than those who have subscribed for the whole series online? For one, the new edition comes with the soundtrack, and that was something that I thought about bying online, but I didn't do that because it would cost a lot more extra. In addition, the price of the game in the store is cheaper. Which I would understand if the season was a year old (there's always a price drop), but you can still buy the season online for $34.95 (plus the shipping fee for the bonus disc). That isn't what I would call a great deal, although you get some bonus features with the disc. I suspect that there's another distributer for the game box in regular stores. I don't usually complain about prices for games (I understand that the production's not free), but I signed up early because I thought I would get a special deal. "Very special price for YOU"

The other/retail version doesn't have all the Mechinia shorts they posted over the season, nor does it have DVD commentary that is being posted on the Summer of Sam & Max right now.

Oh, sure, they may have a soundtrack, but it's a sampler, possibly only containing the MP3 tracks you can download from the website.

I say I'm getting my money's worth from TTGs.

For one, the new edition comes with the soundtrack, and that was something that I thought about bying online, but I didn't do that because it would cost a lot more extra.

Actually, it comes with exactly the same MP3s that are on our DVD version. The full soundtrack we sell is completely different and not included in any version of the game.

The extras on the two versions of Season One are somewhat different -- retail comes with a poster and a behind the scenes video; Telltale's version comes with cutscene commentary, machinima shorts, and the ability to play the videos in your DVD player. It really comes down to what you prefer, but the two versions are simply very different.

As for the price, our Season One customers had the benefit of playing the games as they came out (and the season did start almost a year ago) and also the certainty that they were going to get to play the games. This deal had not been signed when Season One launched and there was no guarantee that the games would have come to retail at all.

People have to make their own decision about which to get, but I can honestly say we had no intention of creating one product that was better or another that was worse. We've all worked extremely hard to make sure that both products are awesome. All we want is to get as much cool Sam & Max stuff out there as possible.

Is that flash short you guys had on Interim theater an Easter Egg on the DVD? I really think it needs to be on some sort of official Sam & Max medium someway or another...

It's not there. We considered putting it on, but we really had nothing to do with it - Steve just gave it to us to put up in Interim Theater to add some variety.

Heck, I first saw the short on Newgrounds.com. I don't know if it's still there, though, as they got a hell of a lot stricter with their posting policy due to a bunch of idiots stealing files and claiming it as their own.

I have my fingers majorly crossed hoping that im in that first 500, i know that i had my payment in within 10 minutes of that "Season 1 disc is in the store" email :D

P.S.: I recently co-won the Mix 'n' Mojo contest and the prizes arrived which include a signed copy of Bone 2 and a couple of the Promo cards. This was an incredible experience and i am very greatfull for it, currently there is no way that i could make it to the Telltale office or to any of the con's due to an ongoing family emergency so this was awesome. I just ordered the bonus disc. Then had second thoughts and asked to get my order cancelled so I could re-order and get the casefile and soundtrack as well. Were a spot of trouble with getting the order number of my season activated again, misread number I believe, so a couple of quick e-mails later I could re-order. But that's still about a day's delay because I had to get home before starting the support case.

So all in all I'm probably in the last 50 orders.

Would be nice to know how many orders they'd got on the case file though so I had an estimate of how long I need to wait :-)

Yay!!! i got my shipping confirmation sometime this morning before 7:00 AM pacific time :D!!!! Good call Emily :D I cant wait for its arrival :)

lol, my confirmation also says "Sam & Max Seaso None" :p

Also i notice it seems to have omitted the Country from the shipping address :( i'm not sure about that... i figure its just a safety precaution or something. I also notice that it doesn't specifically list the case file but says "Sam & Max Seaso None" again with the price for the case file instead :p When i look at the Find my Order page all is good though, all info clearly states whats coming (case file and DVD) and to which country its heading to, hence the reason i am in no way worried :D

Thanks again Telltale Games, i greatly look forwards to the package's arrival :D and the utter complete awesomeness that will be Season 2 :D

Don't worry about weirdness on the confirmation email. Those things are a mess (I'm trying to get them fixed), but what it says in your confirmation email is not a reflection of what the label on your package says.

They put stuff in big boxes because they used to put things in little paper sleeves which caused everything to get bent and damaged. We asked them to stop that, so instead things started arriving in ridiculous huge boxes. Oh well!

Yay! My Disk, Soundtrack, and Case File all arrived! Great job Telltale! I love the case file, sure it's just novelty, but it's still awesome. I'm watching the videos on the Disk right now. One thing I was wondering though, it may be a bit of a spoiler to those who are extremely spoiler paranoid so just in case: The "guide" that came with the disk was only two pages (a single page folded in half), but the bottoms of the pages say "Page 22" and "Page 23". As far as I can tell, this is just meant as a kind of joke since the guide seems complete (except that it's missing page 24 :P), but I just wanted to make sure that I'm not missing something.
BTW, my stuff came in a bubble envelope, no hugemoungous box for me. Plus the box for the disk was slightly warped by sitting in the 100 degree Georgia weather (110 degree w/ heat index I believe). Luckily the disk is fine and the box isn't too warped. Everything else is amazing.
