[WD] Can't Play EP2 on PlayStation [RESOLVED - restart the game]

Hey guys, i have downloaded Episode 2 from the playstation store and installed it. when i got to play it, it sends me back to the main ps3 screen, i have seen other players have this issue also, any fix?

Okay, so I've been lurking on the forum for a while now, but decided to join just now to express my disappointment as well.

As every other PS3 user has already stated, I downloaded the game then tried to play episode 2 using my save game from the first episode and it just kicks me to the home screen.

I didn't buy the first episode the day it came out or anything, so maybe I have little "right" to complain...but I did buy the season pass...and we had to wait longer than expected for the release of the new episode, and it really is ridiculous that after all of the waiting the new episode finally launches and it doesn't even work the way it's supposed to.

Very frustrating. I've already played the first episode several times, I don't want to have to go start from scratch yet again...and even then, is there ANY guarantee that the second episode will actually work? They seriously need to get on this. Ridiculous.

Add me to the list of PS3 users who can't play Chapter 2. It does exactly the same thing others are describing. Game loads, can select the previous saved game, toggle to Chapter 2, select play, black screen with noises as it looks like it's loading...then black screen with silence...then back to my PS3 screen, as if I never selected Walking Dead. :confused:

pretty sure Betheda has some deal with M$, all of their add on content comes out months later for pc and ps3, hell fallout 3s add on content didnt release on ps3 for at least a year

I think someone needs to give Telltale the resources they need to make full retail games so crap like this doesn't happen. I feel worse for fans of Sonic the Hedgehog 4 though cos it took, like, what, a whole YEAR before episode 2 came out? And it's just a simple platform game.

At least incidents like these will be strong cases against consoles that only play digital download titles like how everyone thought the next Xbox would be.

WOW. you have GOT to be shittin' me. i was ok with the general wait for episode 2, i eyerolled at the "everyone but 360 players have to wait two more days!" factor, and THIS is the result?!

i can tell by the quality of the back to the future titles and episode 1 of the walking dead that telltale truly work hard to deliver quality titles. i had more fun with episode 1 of walking dead than i have a lot of other zombie games in their entirety. i've got to say, though, that at this point i imagine telltale is probably cursed. not in a legal/financial sense, i mean i think there's a damn voodoo priest who's hidden some talisman or dead animal somewhere in their offices, and i hope that the time between now and the eventual patch for episode 2 is well-spent searching the drywall and ventilation ducts for just such an artifact. i really can't come up with another explanation.

I too have kept my cool for the late release but now I would like a refund. It has nothing to do with being "pissy" or just wanting to play a game. I rarely play games anyway just was a fan of the series and thought I'd give this a shot.

It was preached "would you rather have a buggy game on time or have a solid game late".....that's not what we got.

You can't have people pay upfront for something and not hold up to your end of the bargain without some type of consequence. Let alone it not working when it finally comes out.

You can just delete the Walking Dead game itself. The saved data is stored in another area of the PS3 from the game itself. Ive attempted this myself and even though the game still doesnt work my save data was still there.

It's not about life or death, it's not even about wanting at this point, it's about respect. When I pay for something up front I don't expect you to be perfect but I do expect you to respect me, respond to me and deliver a WORKING product. This is what makes me uncomfortable about this..Telltale to the best of my knowledge..doesnt do the whole 'work weekend' things..and Sony is..well Sony..(lets all remember how long the PSN was down.) Well this is fab. EU gets a "TBA" release date and now this? Pretty much confirms that us sad sods in the ass-end of the world, Europe, are going to have to wait for a lot longer than "ASAP".

Just to be clear, i'm not bitching about the fact that the US will get a patch first, it SHOULD be fixed first for obvious reasons, it just irks me that this game was delayed a month and it's painfully obvious that no-one actually playtested the damn thing on a PS3.

After looking back on the past few posts I can see that many are angry with this turn of events. As one who bought the season pass for PS3 before the game even came out, I can tell you that the wait is irritating. I would however point out that the makers of the game are working on it. We need to just wait patiently a little longer, and a solution should hopefully come soon. If we waited this long a few more hours or even days can't hurt. I do hope that this "waiting period and problems once it comes out" does not happen for the next few episodes. Lets be patient a little longer and perhaps a solution will come. This is a very serious glitch. A lot of games have glitches. Haven't seen things this serious. Please fix it asap.
it's good to know at least you guys are paying attention to your fans. but honestly, give us a realistic timeline. How long do you think this will take to get fixed? If you had said that you weren't doing a midnight release I'm sure a lot of fans like me wouldn't have stayed up and got disappointed; if you have told us exactly what time you would release the game a lot of us wouldn't have waken up disappointed; so now please tell us how long do you think you will need to fix it. We love the game, we paid for it, we are not only fans, we are also customers. While i'm sure you guys are very proud so many fans love your game, you should, but remember, as a business, you have nowhere to go but down if you have unhappy customers. Actually Ive tried deleting and reinstalling both episodes. Nothing changed. And my save data was still there cause its saved in a different area of the PS3 not with the game itself.

I bought the season pass back when episode 1 came out. I used the episode menu in game, chose get, and then downloaded episode 2 form the psn shop page that it opened up for me. season pass is my account flag on psn.

First, I'd like to ensure there is a secure connection to the Internet for better results while downloading the video:

•Check to make sure the video is not attempting to download by navigating to Network > Download Manager. If it is in the process of downloading, press the Triangle on the title to cancel.

•Next, disable your Media Server Connection. From your XrossMediaBar™ (XMB™), go to Settings > Network Settings > Media Server Connection, and disable. Then turn off your PS3™.

•Power-Cycle your network devices by unplugging all of your network devices and equipment, making sure all lights on the modem and router are turned off for three full minutes. Certain VOIP modems (where your telephone is connected to your modem) may have a battery installed. You will need to remove the battery in order for the modem to be completely turned off. I didn't get the Season Pass, and I have this issue. My friend does have the Season Pass, and she has it as well. We've both downloaded the game and installed it twice, including the first episode.

*Quick Edit* I downloaded from the PSN Store the first time, and launched the Store from the Menu in game the second time, neither worked properly.

Yup guys same here, WTF!!! idk what the company is doing but they have had plenty of time to get this ready, what a rip off!! And they probably won't even comp us anything for this delay. I saw a post from Alan something from telltale saying " we are dealing with this problem and will update u" WOW how unspecific can you be? Sounds like we are all fucked and since they decided to release on a Friday it's probably going to be a whole weekend and a couple of week days before anything happens. Telltale really likes to beat around the bush, it's a great game which is why I'm super pissed but they better be pulling an all nighter because this is just bullshit!! I hope all I've said doesn't come true but at there rate of release and broken promises, it's sad to say it but PS3 users are probably fucked!!

I bought the season pass back when episode 1 came out. I used the episode menu in game, chose get, and then downloaded episode 2 form the psn shop page that it opened up for me.

This is a very serious glitch. A lot of games have glitches. Haven't seen things this serious. Please fix it asap.

lol i usually play games on PC, and i've seen the rare bad launch bugs, including being unable to even play a game until it's patched. RAGE had a ton of AMD users literally unable to play the game form launch until that was worked around. I used nvidia at the time and didn't have the problem, but, it does happen, it's just that it is a lot less common on consoles, and it's even not that common on PC for me. I'm a bit frustrated too though tried redownloading and launching from the episode itself selecting play, and continuing my episode 1 save a couple of times lol. Nothing we can do but wait though, screaming at them doesn't give them useful information, useful information helps them solve the problem quicker so we can all play, rather than having them sort through abunch of flames to find the useful information.

Nah, I'm seeing lots of season pass and individual sales, downloaded from ps store AND downloaded from the game itself. I think the game itself is what bugged no matter how you bought/downloaded it.

They get no sympathy from me, you can't deny they didn't screw up here. Everyone knows that "shit happens" but that doesn't mean it should be shrugged off. They deserve every bit of criticism they're getting

Constructive criticism, sure. Needless comments on how "Zomg, I'm going to quit and never play again!!111!!"? Not so much. Those type of comments won't help anyone, nor will it motivate any faster working.

Despite everyone throwing attitude around as though it were going out of style, you see that the employees are here, asking questions to better understand what is going on.

It's not like they intentionally are trying to screw anyone so the more calm and collected members are, the better we can communicate with the team and see if we can't get this fixed.

Yeah there is definitely a problem with the game itself not the method used to download it. Just patiently waiting for a patch to come so we can all finally enjoy Episode 2.

Well I guess I am in the same boat as everyone else. Ps3 will not play episode 2 just kicks me back to the main ps3 menu screen. I have the seasonal pass as well. Hopefully they are working on this issue right now.

Same. Faulty games on release are not a rare occurence, what is rare is the two fingers TT have shown to their customers in regards to the delay and stunted release across the 3 platforms. If they had just sent an email or posted something on their blog now and then saying "we're sorry, we're working on x or y" it would have made a WORLD of difference with the majority of the community.

Asking questions? They asked one question and haven't reported any useful information to us. Simply stating that you are working on a solution to people that have paid for something advanced is hardly showing their concern. For the record, too, shouldn't they have a log of who paid and how? I have yet to read ONE statement of it working on a PS3, which from my perspective indicates that it isn't a delivery issue, it's a content issue. If I can figure that out sitting here, bored enough to read people complaining, patiently waiting for the game I paid for to be fixed, why can't they?

I'm sure they won't want to sabotage their own game. If you think about how all other game companies have to deliver the packages games to every BestBuy, GameStop etc all over the country on time for opening of the release date, you see that Telltale is already saving a lot of money and trouble. Yet they failed to deliver a playable game on time. I do not question the capabilities of the developers and engineers, but there is something not working within that company that is causing problems.
