There are several options when you're at Clementine's door. You can look at it (indicated with an eye), you can bang on it (indicated with the hand), or you can open it (indicated with the open-door symbol). If you choose the hand option enough (like, five or six times), it will automatically trigger the cutscene to open the door.

There are a lot of things in the "world" that have several options to interact with, so make sure you scroll through all of the icons!
