I am making this thread so everyone can talk about old and new Cartoon Network shows. Anyway i'll start by asking what was everyone's favorite stuff on it before new Cartoon Network started making everyone ether live action or a Ben 10 cartoon (Seriously it's on it's forth show right now!!) Anyway mine:Courage The cowardly Dog,Ed Edd N Eddy,Codename:Kids Next door (KND),Dexter's Lab,Xiaolin Showdown,Teen Titans. Also i'm not sure if some stuff like Xiaolin Showdown was on Cartoon Network in the US but it was on Cartoon Network in the UK.

Mine I consider the creme de la creme

The classic Ben 10
Samurai Jack
Code: Lyoko
Teletoon's Stoked
and SYM-BIONIC TITAN

No matter what anyone says, these will always be the best to me

Oh, I almost forgot...Young Justice

Well it's dancin on a knife's edge for me and hope it doesn't crash and burn like some of the other shows CN has shown.

Everything I've heard of Young Justice is that it's really good, but so was ThunderCats. Problem is, Cartoon Network had NO faith in ThunderCats. In fact, they might as well just change their name. Any good cartoons that hit the air on Cartoon Network won't survive.

I think Robot Chicken was the only show I watched on a regular basis that actually started on the network. Everything else was FOX or older.

Rest in peace.

For anyone looking for a nostalgia kick for these old Cartoon Cartoons, there's two webcomics I can't recommend enough: Powerpuff Girls Doujinshi (http://ppg.snafu-comics.com/) and Grim Tales from Down Below (http://ppg.snafu-comics.com/), both by an artist called Bleedman.

Also i'm not sure if some stuff like Xiaolin Showdown was on Cartoon Network in the US but it was on Cartoon Network in the UK.

In syndication. It started on Kids WB.

I am also going back to my childhood days by reading your post:)
The classic Ben 10 and Robot Chicken was one of the most watched shows by me.

I remember watching (and loving) Dexter's Lab. Presumably this was before it started sucking harder than a blow-up doll with a vacuum cleaner shoved up its tush. Or something.

Never really caught on anything else, and I stopped watching way before stuff like Robot Chicken aired.

Oh yeah, I guess the new one counts as CN because of viacom. I say B&B as well.

I remember watching quite a few shows on Cartoon Network back in the day! So to save on me making a list (where I'm bound to miss a few) I'm going to just say Toonami! (still isn't available for me here in England)

Also, this thread reminded me to watch the 20th year anniversary montage video (http://youtu.be/ToedGaNN65g).

That was great! Even better when the video had Teen Titans and Foster's Home for imaginary friends.

Yes, though the Teen Titans revival, Teen Titans Go!, is going to debut on Cartoon Network next year.

Is the new Teen Titans Go! cartoon going to be done in the same style as The first Teen Titans series or will it be different?

It's apparently going in more of a comedy direction than the original. Plus the style is going to be different.

I just hope they don't change the style too much.

It's very different in style and tone. Chibi-style animation and comedic stories rather than continuing the series.

So it's going to be a full series of the DC Nation Shorts?

Essentially. The same way Star Wars Detours is going to be a full series of Robot Chicken sketches. Could be good, but in both cases I have doubts as to whether these ideas can be expanded on for a full half-hour show.

My biggest gripe with Cartoon Network is how poorly they treat the things they're named for. Again, biggest example is the rebooted ThunderCats series. This show was great. But Cartoon Network barely advertised it, then changed its timeslot, and all indications are that it is dead without any official word one way or the other.

It will move to Toonami though, since apparently only the periphery demographic watched it.

And you'll have to admit it. ThunderCats, how awesome it is, isn't marketable. Same reason why shows like Secret Saturdays or Sym-Bionic Titan got cancelled. You can't market this shit. I mean, what, do you really think kids would buy a cryptid plushie, or a "Booty Quake Kimmy" doll? Young boys nowadays don't play with action figures anymore, so the days of ThunderCats action figures are long gone.

Also, Sym-Bionic Titan was most likely canned due to a dispute between Cartoon Network and Genndy Tartakovsky.

Cartoon network doesn't cancel shows. It just doesn't renew its seasons when they don't want them anymore. From what I hear, it's a very weird dev process.

Also symbiotic titan didnt get renewed because they werent selling toys. Thus it wasnt really making money. Sad, but it is a business they run. To be honest though, I didnt like it all that much.

Chowder almost never got greenlit because there was a fear amongst producers that it was suporting childhood obesity.

You'd be surprised how well GOOD figures would sell. Bandai's figures were not good. The smaller scale figures had good detailing in some areas, but crappy accessories and the Thunder Lynx features unnecessarily bulked up the figures. The bigger figures had faces that looked like someone just put stickers on them and ugly joints. You also don't help things by making the Deluxe Sword of Omens really small, and the "Basic" Sword of Omens wouldn't be a sword for even a Hobbit.

And the Toonami timeslot is a joke. Putting a show on at 2:30 AM is stupid.

Your joking right? Jeez they might as well rename themselves ''Live Action Network'' or ''Ben 10 Network''

GaryCXJk
10/22/2012, 12:44 pm
They've moved DC Nation, where Young Justice and Green Lantern were aired, back to January 2013, on an unspecified date, meaning we all need to track the air dates and time for these shows if we want to mess up their plans to give them a reason to cancel these shows, because that's how they canceled ThunderCats and Sym-Bionic Titans.

Eventually Cartoon Network needs to learn that the audience will not take this shit anymore if they want people to still watch it. They can't keep on building on the only two shows that get people to watch (Regular Show and Adventure Time).

And before anyone suggests it, no, a boycott will not help at all. It would mean that everybody needs to keep to this boycott, which just won't happen. There is absolutely nothing we can do against this bullshittery.

ryannumber1gamer
10/22/2012, 12:52 pm
Adventure Time, and Regular Show and Young Justice i think are the only good new things that's on CN in the UK.

There's also one thing which makes me have less support for Cartoon Network though.

Mystery Incorporated.

We're halfway at season 2, with only 11 episodes to go before the series is complete. They don't need to stall the show in order to secretly cancel it, because after season 2, the series is done anyway. There were only supposed to be 52 episodes, or at least that was the original plan. With Cartoon Network stalling shit, they might have given us the impression that they expected more.

WE DIDN'T.

I just don't understand Cartoon Network. ThunderCats, Young Justice, and Green Lantern are some of the biggest and best things to come out of Warner Bros. animation studios, and Cartoon Network treats them like a dog turd in the yard. Why in the hell doesn't Warner Bros. just put these shows on a different network that will give them the respect they deserve?

False. Cartoon Network is owned by Turner Broadcasting System (TBS), a Time Warner company. So Cartoon Network isn't owned by Warner Bros., they're both owned by the same conglomerate way up at the top. And considering that pretty much all film and television media in the US is owned by only six or so conglomerates (see the members of the MPAA (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mpaa)), that's not terribly surprising.

The jokes made me chuckle, but the animation is crap and the characters are butchered. The very first episode has Raven tricking the Titans to go looking for legendary sandwich ingredients so she can watch a MLP knock-off in peace.

Yeah I seen Ep 1 & 2 on YouTube and I think it's good enough. We all know that it won't be as good as the first Teen Titans cartoon. I did like the one where Raven's dad gives the team powers like Starfire talking like a teenager (I don't know why but I find it funny when Starfire says to Raven ''Haters gonna hate'' :D
