Hi Everyone,
I hope you had a great Thanksgiving. I have an innocent question for all of you and here it is. What have you been reading lately? and what is your favorite book? This definitely includes Graphic novels.

Personally, I like the Bible. Probably the funniest book I'll ever not read. But in all seriousness, I read this Magic the Gathering book a while back, forgot the title, but it was good nonetheless.

i also love graphic novles, my favorite are powers and marvels, pritty much anything ilistrated by alex ross

I'm reading Neal Stephenson - The Baroque Cycle at the moment.

He wrote some of my favorite books: Snow Crash and Diamond Age.

Another favorite writer of mine is Stanislaw Lem, especially his Cyberiad-books.

Greg Egan is also very good, his short story Luminous made me re-read the whole story as soon as I finished it! Again and again...

Well, I just finished reading Grail Prince, but that was for a class...I've also recently read R.A. Salvatore's latest, The Two Swords, and I've been trying to finish The Pirate Round (mmm, pirates) since August. I'm something of a fantasy geek, obviously.

As for favorite book...I'd say it was a tie between Anna Karenina and R.A. Salvatore's first DemonWars trilogy (because they're all one book. Really. One big 1,500 page book...okay, no, not really).

My favourite is Dune by Frank Herbert, but I have also read a little by Isaack Asimov and H. P. Lovecraft.

just finished "The DaVinci Code" which was amazing! and before that was "The Odyssey", and an extremely interesting non-fiction book called "Stiff: The Secret Lives of Human Cadavers" That was one of the most incredible books i've ever read. It's about what happens when you die and donate your body to "science".... Good stuff

I would have to say that I don't have a favorite story/book. My favorite author is H. P. Lovecraft and my favorite humorist is Douglas Adams. I'm currently reading Livy's Early History of Rome (translated).

I recently finished the first three books of The Hyperion series by Dan Simmons, I liked the first one the best.

For non fiction I like Jon Krakauer, Into the Wild is my favorite

The Riddlemaster of Hed trilogy and the His Dark materials trilogy are both excellent reading with plenty of interesting magic.

Boneville is an excellent set of graphic novels.

I've recently red the Karla Trilogy from John Le Carre (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, the Honorable Schoolboy and Smiley's People) and I'm currently reading Clandestine from James Ellroy. They are all very good books.

Right now I am finishing up American Gods by Neil Gaiman, next in line - his "Smoke and Mirrors" short story collection.

Terry Pratchett's Discworld novels would be my main choice of fiction right now. Not only are they great, they also translated into three awesome adventure games (can we have a Discworld game from TellTale, please?).
If I do read graphic novels (very seldom), Marvel would be the source and the comics would be older (80's/<95's) issues of X-Men or New Mutants. Old good Disney comics are fun to look back to sometimes as well.

I actually don't like Mangas in general, but the latest, best comic I read was Blame (http://www.cyberiacafe.ch/Tsutomu/Blame/index_e.html) .

The guy who made it is an architect, not a cartoonist, and it shows...

I am not too big on comic books..err..graphic novels..but the Sandman and the Hellblazer series are pretty amazing.

I just read the Silent Hill: Dying Inside TPB; it was good, but not Silent Hill good. Now I'm back to reading Dune. I know, it was a serious lapse not to read it earlier and I'm a horrible person.

As for my favorite books, some are: A Clockwork Orange, Snow Crash, Catch-22, and The Crying of Lot 49.

hmm lets see favourite books..... I would have to say the dragonlance books are high on my list. The first ones. Haven't gotten to the new ones. In my younger days I used to like sw books like heir to the empire, all those books were good. Stuff from Tom Clancy is pretty good. Recently I've read some Dean Koontz (sp ?). Manga... well truthfully I never really got into reading much manga.... aside from hellsing, naruto, kenshin and a few others.

My favorite book would have Atonement by Ian McEwan. After that would be To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee followed closely by Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov.

Right now, I'm mostly reading Love in the Time of Cholera. In between breaks, I either go for the millionth re-read of The Man in the High Castle, or make a huge effort to make a little progress with The Count of Monte Christo. Great story, the translation is excellent, but very tiring book to read because of the latter. Someone thought it was a good idea to put the translator's numerous notes in appendices, so you have to go back and forth a lot :S

Almost everything by Kurt Vonnegut (with my favourites: Galapagos, Champion's Breakfast and Sirens from Titan).
Lots of older books by Stephen King (Misery, Shining) and some new (Rose Madder).
Some polish authors newer translated to any other language : )
