sound issues with episodes 101-201

i had problems with the sound in the original season, and i'm having them again, weird crackling sounds, i can stop them by turning graphics down but i should be able to run it max at native resolution (1280x800)

specs
intel core 2 duo t5500 1.7 ghz
nvidia go 7400
conexant hight definition audio
vista ultimate 32bit
1gb ram

i don't think its ram as it is consistent through the game an it isn't running at full ram

Ok, first of all, you should try updating your DirectX (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=2da43d38-db71-4c1b-bc6a-9b6652cd92a3&displaylang=en) and your sound card drivers.

If that doesn't fix it, it is theoretically possible that your system is being overworked at max resolution and your sound quality is suffering from it. It's kinda weird and rare, but not completely impossible. We can try to fiddle with some stuff though.
