If you haven't played 204 yet, you probably want to stay out of here, since people will be discussing things you don't yet know about!

You will probably be sad if you read this before playing the game!

Okay now that those guys are gone... For those of you who already have your hands on 204, this is your place to discuss away, without worry of spoiling anyone who hasn't played the game yet!

Enjoy!

If you still feel antsy and want to wrap your post in a spoiler tag, just format it like this: [ spoiler ]your text here[ /spoiler ] (but without the spaces next to the brackets), and it will look like this: your text here.

Is this just a new thing for the episodes or is it because there is a huge plot twist in this one?

Just moved a bunch of posts back to the general thread (http://www.telltalegames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4561). I won't do that anymore, but it would make me sad to see people who were joking around in here earlier come back to find genuine chat from people who were playing the games.

Looks like I was right (or so I assume) about 205 being in Hell. Excellent.

I'm curious about the contract Grandpa Stinky had in the display case. I bet we'll be seeing him again.

I guess I spoke too soon about 203 being my favorite. This one just had me in tears of laughter from beginning to end. "Are you a bad enough president to save the dude?" Epic win. Nice to see the formula and methods of transportation changed a little too.

I dont know what it is with Telltale Games and episodes with the number four, but as episode 4 of season 1 was the best by far, so is episode 4 of season 2 imo. Keep up the work and make more like those.

This episode was really nice, deep and different, with a good and fun story and moments :) cant wait to see if its hell or heaven on the other side of that portal :)

It was also nice with the jokes, humor and max was alot more active in this episode, really hope this is something you will keep on working with, instead of just having max run around like in the other episodes :)

Dude, this raises all kinds of questions.

1. When we get to Season 3, will it be released on September 6 so that we can see ourselves trade the boxing betty for the egg from the other direction, or will that just sortof vanish into the depths of time?

2. Will we get to see ourselves take that sleigh from 201 in the next episode?

3. What exactly did we do to the continuity here? As far as I can tell, we essentially split Sam & Max's timeline in half: the first instances of themselves were born sometime in the 70s and went up to about half-way through 102, at which point they got jumped through the future to the spaceship and blown up when the ship caused the Big Bang.
The second were born in an alternate causalty, and entered this timestream on the spaceship, sent themselves back to 102 and lived through the rest of season 1 and the first half of season 2.

Building on Maratanos' observations:

Wasn't it stated that Max had a short lifespan? And yet, 100 years into the future, he's still young and frisky. (although apparently blind, judging by the Geordi glasses)

And in issue #105 of The Unremarkable Adventures of Swede-Man, wasn't The Crimson Flallop killed by Dr. Limpet in the Peruvian Antechambers? Continuity, man! :p

Wow, that was...AWESOME! I didn't expect the Mariachi Men to be a huge part of the plot. Just thought they were in there to be random. The writers must have a really complex story, and as it goes on I'm amazed at how everything ties together!

Now, I wish I could get in a time machine to go to the future and see 205! Even better, go to the Intergalactic Freelance Police and see all the episodes released until then!

It's hard to say any episode is a favorite---they are all good!

was i the only one who was kinda bummed out at the lack of a time wasting mini game in this episode...

oh and it looks like i was right that we would not be seeing the cops for a car upgrade in this episode as well, but i am not complaining... the change of how we got around in this episode was a welcome diversion from the usual

i like how most of the re-occuring locations had some new things and atmosphere to them, such as the new inverted color scheme for the oval office... i wonder how many people noticed it, and the 80's version of stinkys really brought back nightmar, erm... memories for me
only thing i am sad that so much of the office was blocked off in the episode (the closet, the items by the phone table, etc.) i can only hope we get to click everything again in episode 5 (if the office is in the episode at all)
i also liked how there was always a change of scenery for each puzzle, and overall this episode had the most locations of any episode so far i believe, and even though each location was small, and did not have much to them... they add up, and overall it is a unique experience that we have not seen in a while

i am glad we saw just enough of the old characters to get a few laughs but not too much that they get old and we never want to see them again (viva la soda poppers), and the few new characters were ok as well, (but i was tired of them by the time i was done) but it does seem that the grandpa stinky character was kinda thrown together (he has flint papers jeans and arms (simply retextured with tattoos), and a head that closely resembles Lucius from the bone games (so all thats new is his torso, because i am sure i saw his sailor hat somewhere as well)

sadly i found the humor somewhat lacking in the episode, i was smiling the whole way though with all the goofy plot twists and odd occurances, but i rarely found myself laughing on the floor like i did with 203, it seems they were trying to tell a compelling story, more than making people laugh

the difficulty curve is even higher than in previous episodes, and aside from episode 2... the season is making a nice progression from hard to difficult... and the length of the game is perfect as well, it could have done with a time wasting mini-game to give it some more length and replay value...

overall this is a very strong episode, but sadly i cannot say it is one of my favorites, i like how it explained a lot (even some things that we did not care about, or expect to have explained) and this was the first episode to leave us with a true "cliffhanger" where the story will have to be directly continued from the point it left off in the next episode

My mind is all jumbled with awesomeness. I don't think this was as long as 201 or 203, but it was funnier and had such a cool plot, so I'll let that pass.
One of my favourite lines had to be past bango-playing Sam shouting out "I can't shoot future me!".
Best episode this season (possibly of all time - possibly) without doubt.

I am terribly amused by the revelation that Bosco's fear of elaborate conspiracies stems from the fact that his father was JFK. I guess Momma Bosco is the reason Kennedy started to talk about civil rights before he was shot.

ARGH! Cliffhanger'd!

Just finished this episode, I'm kinda proud of myself, because I did it in record time! I bought 204 at around 4:30 or so, and it's 8:19 now, just played it straight thru - didn't even pause to go to the bathroom :D

Good episode, very funny, and I tried as many things as I could for the "did you try?" stuff, haven't read the "did you try?" thing thoe, so I dunno how much I missed - heh.

I liked sending past max and past sam back to 2008 to ask superball about the time traveling phonebooth, until I realized I actually NEEDED to do it! lol

On the difficulty scale, I actually thought this one was too easy, too straight forward :-/ Nothing was like "off the scale?" sort of, does that make sense?

Definitely worth the wait. Hoping that The egg transfer and the santa sleigh rescue happen eventually in the series, maybe in episode 5. And I loved looking into the future closet absolutely packed to capacity with trophies from cases that haven't been done yet.

Great episode guys... quite a few laugh-out-loud moments, some incredibly bizarre plotting and i really did have to think quite a bit to solve some puzzles.

This is actually the first episode I've played completely within one sitting, and I only needed Max's hints once or twice when I was really stumped :)

I'm lucky I had a few hours today to play. Took me about 5 hrs to complete, and I did wander around doing a lot of pointless talking exploring dialogue trees and all that, and handing random objects to random people just to see what'd happen :)

Pity we never get to go back and tell Flint what happened, he's probably very disappointed he never helped us out that much.

And no Sybil or Jimmy or Lincoln or female Stinky! I miss those guys, and it's only been a month since 203...

Now there's a month to kill before the gripping Season finale :)

[Maybe 301 will explain why we need the Boxing Betty control in September, even though 301's likely release date is November (going by 201's release date, not any actual inside knowledge)]

Anyway Telltale, I just have to say that you guys really topped yourselves. The humor in this episode was great and far superior to previous episodes. I kind of preferred the lack of a mini game and how you made this episode a direct continuation of the last. I was glad to see the back of the "wonder around the main street for clues" formula. Anyway this episode made me laugh so hard and had such a great plot. You guys (and girls) have really lived up to expectations of a new brand of Sam & Max games. Fantastic work!

I knew you could do it, Telltale; the perfect time travel episode! Deliciously mocking more hallmarks of time travel classics than you can shake a stick at, and milking them for all the hilarious plot twists and bizarre revelations in there. Not to mention the things you've done with the revisited locations and characters, and the references galore (that deniable Hit the Road reference is epic!).
Anyway Telltale, I just have to say that you guys really topped yourselves. We say that so often it loses all meaning :). Still right, though. It's staggering to think of what this trend means for Season Three, though I'm sure at this point people won't mind too much if the season three episodes are all 'only' as good as 204. That reminds me: with controllable Max and time travel checked off, we need to come up with a new wish list... The sky's the limit now!

Damnit, Telltale! Stop getting cooler!

I have to say I didn't think things could get much better after Night of the Raving Dead, but Telltale have proved me wrong!

Best bits:

-Day of the Tentacle-like time travel puzzles (did the volcano/cork thing remind anyone else of putting the hamster in the freezer?)
-Screwing up the continuity of the entire series and either ignoring the changes or somehow sorting everything out again (zombie hand spray, Max's new personality, Sam inventing Bluster Blaster)
-Self mocking gags (Past Sam and Old Sam's "memoirs", packed closet in the future, still only exploring that one street in the far future)
-Finding out the birthdays of Sam, Max and Bosco.
-SUGGESTIVE AI VOICE!!!

Also, if Sam and Max don't return to the neighbourhood in Eppy 5, then Stinky and Leonard will still be tied up. :D

My only disappointment in this episode was the lack of Flint after the intro section. :( It doesn't look like he'll return for Eppy 5, but then again he did suprise us in Stuttgart...

I really like the joke about the fact that Sam&Max had to live the last year one more time !

If you realy want to break your mind, think about this.

According to this episode, we've been following the adventures of "future" Sam & Max ever since mid episode 102.
These Sam & Max then went all through these adventure, all up untill the point where they go back to the Embarresin Idols finali.
After wich they'll be stuck going all through the same adventures AGAIN.
Repeat.

Also...

From where did the Sam & Max scolding the "past" Sam & Max come from? The ones we followed to the end of the episode. The "future" Sam & Max were stuck in the loop mentioned earlier on. They couldn't just skip going back in time or the "past" Sam & Max wouldn't be in the future in the first place.

Of course, this is all just logical thinking.
And this being Sam & Max we're talking about, logic doesn't realy apply :)

Doesn't Dr. Michio Kaku (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michio_Kaku) have a similar scenario is one of his thesis writings about how a time traveling man can be his own father AND murderer of his own father if the conditions are right causing the man to theoretically never have been born but still exist in a perpetual historical loop paradox?

I won't bother with the hidden spoiler text since, well, this is entire thread of spoilers. :p

This was, hands down, the best episode of the entire series so far. A bunch of quickie thoughts:

-No driving mini-game was a blessing for me. I've never been crazy about them.
-I thought for SURE that the way to break Mama Bosco's heart would be to go into the bathroom and put the toilet seat up. (Although, I'm curious why, when clicking on the toilet, we suddenly got a view from the toilet of Sam. The felt important and it confused me for a bit.)
-I had a hell of a time figuring out how to steal the Tar Cake recipe before I realized I had the DNA sampler thing.
-The closet full of stuff! Funny thing, I had the EXACT same reaction as Sam at the EXACT same time. We both shouted "Whoa!" at the same time. But it does bring the question: is poor Leonard trapped among that whole mess?
-There were a few times that I JUST realized the solution to a puzzle when Max suddenly pipes up a clue. I kept shouting "I know, Max! Geez!"
-Agent Bosco absolutely cracked me up. The fact that he was talking politely like Superball AND still calling me "fool" had me rolling.
-As soon as the chicken and the egg puzzle came up, I immediately thought "Featherly. It's gotta be Featherly." I even knew he'd be at the beginning of time before he was pointed out.
-Mama Bosco didn't say a single "Mm-hm!" that I recall. I guess Bosco didn't know his mama as well as his disguise let on.
-A break from Sybil and Abe was nice, to be honest. I love the characters, but not every single episode.
-Not enough Flint! Come on, we were promised to team up with him (their way of "solving" mysteries was the best joke of the game) and we made it as far as the intro. That made me sad.
-The very much uncluttered office in the future made me wish that the cluttered office in the present would go back to that a little. It's not that I don't like all the mementos of previous games, but I think it's getting a little out of hand.

But still, overall, this was the best episode that Telltale has put out yet. The time traveling stuff was possibly just as good as Day of the Tentacle's time traveling puzzles (not as many as DotT, but that was a full game, not a short, episodic game). Some of the puzzles were a little tough for me at some points, but not impossible tough. And the ending, my god, the ending. I'm very curious to see how Telltale is going to top themselves after this season, because the whole season has been gold.

And this being Sam & Max we're talking about, logic doesn't realy apply :)

Sure ! I guess, on this level, we can't logical thinking because something impossible is not logical ! Time travel (in the past, at least) is not possible ! So, all we can do, it's trying to do a explanation. It's like the explanation in "Back to the Future II" about original 1985 and alternative 1985 ! When you try to do your own explanation, the film logical is not logical. For instance, the fact that Biff give almanach to young Biff in 1955 : alternative Marty is in Switzerland but the original Marty can't no longer live or, at least, remember the original past because he does'nt live in it ! Another one : when Old Biff taking back the Delorean in 2015, in the movie, it's in the original 2015. But, a few time later, Doc explains that if you go to the future from an alternative version of the past, you will go to an alternative version of the future. So, in this case, Biff had to go back to an alternative 2015, not the original he's left and Doc&Marty can't take the Delorean back to the 1985 and, in fact, disappeared with the original 2015... Do someone follow me  :rolleyes:

I guess, sometimes, like Reese said in a episode of "Malcolm in the Middle", you must "turn off your brain" !!! Try an explanation of the script of Chariots of the Dogs can give headache ! The best is not to try to understand all the complexity of the weird creators of this game !!!;)

Great game, Telltale. Have been quietly playing through Seasons 1 and 2 and this, and Season 2 has really been full of laughs and entertainment.
Question: anyone thought of whether girl Stinky could be the manifestation of the Shambling Corporate Presence? Since she did say in 203 that she had worked with elves before and in 204 we learn she's become head of a global conglomerate in Stinkycorp.

A very funny and mind bending episode, but I was disappointed that the game ended when it did. I actually exclaimed "is that it?" out loud.
A couple of puzzles had me stumped for a while. It wasn't until later that I figured out how I'd got past Sam to forget why he needed the recording contract. And I'm still not 100% sure if the cork in the volcano was supposed to be related to the older Pedro's death. I'd have to replay it to be sure.
One nice thing about this episode is that more than any other episode it really helped if you had played all the prior episodes. If you jumped into this one without playing the others you would be really confused.

Definitely the best episode yet, and in many ways, one of the most brilliant games I've ever played. I love the way the way the episodes connect to each other this season. I can't wait to see the conclusion. :D

And by the way, I want to start a religion claiming that the creation of the universe was brought on by a flying sombrero racing through time and self-destructing. Much more plausible and interesting than that tedious Big Bang-theory. :D

There's a lot of mentions of demonic contracts throughout the last few episodes: Jurgen had a contract to extract souls from bodies (and failed to meet his quota since Sam and Max de-zombified themselves); the mariachis had a contract to ship said souls to Hell; and Grandpa Stinky proudly displays the contract whereby he sold his soul to Satan.

To glom on others' train of thought, maybe granddaughter Stinky is really Satan and took over running the restaurant after she cashed in on her contract with the original proprietor?

-Day of the Tentacle-like time travel puzzles (did the volcano/cork thing remind anyone else of putting the hamster in the freezer?)

Whilst I did this, I failed to see what effect it had on the time continuum. Perhaps I did it too early in the game. Can somebody explain to me what the point of it was (putting the cork in the future volcano)?

Overall I thought the game was great. Bosco in man-cow guise shouting "Moo-fo!" had me in stitches. As did the Banang joke and the bit where Sam & Max were left stranded by their past incarnations.

The episode was chock-full of the best jokes so far.
I think I laughed most at the beginning with the "we should use all of our detective power" joke, the Banang gag, and all mentioned above. The best thing, though, was Past Sam walking around and randomly commenting on things. "I can't shoot Future Me!"

Oh, and having Future Sam as Davros was a nice touch, guys. :D

I have to agree with the rest of you that this has been one Hell (so to speak, lol) of a game.

To the guy who claimed that Past Sam and Max die with the sombrero-U.F.O:
If you go back to them before the episode is over, you will see that they take the elevator back to their own time bofe the saucer crashes into the beginning of time (Still doesn't explain what they will do there without the contract though).

Funny that we know the birthdays of our main characters now.

Here's to hoping that Season 3 begins on Agent Superball's birthday!

(Still doesn't explain what they will do there without the contract though). When they first refuse to give it to you, present Sam & Max mention they've solved that case, twice. A somewhat problematic statement in its own right if you think about it too much*, but that just goes to show...

*You can get the most paradoxical part out of the way if Past Sam & Max lay low until they can become Present Sam & Max, but even then how can they remember solving that case twice? You'll have to use the classic standby that by being "out of the time-stream" or somesuch, their memory isn't updated when history gets changed. A view which actually has some merit, for otherwise how would Bosco know he wasn't a cow all along?

That was a brilliantly funny episode! And it had me stumped for a bit in a couple of places, a nice change from the ease of most of the previous episodes.

And Max's final comment about seeing Sam in Hell if this doesn't work should prove to be deliciously ironic.

Here are my thoughts on this episode:

-i really liked the creativity that was put into all the time traveling areas....especially the beginning of the universe and some of the lines were great, like Sam making Bluster Blaster.
-i thought the intro was great....but i thought it would have been funny if Telltale had made a previously on Sam and Max type thing, but totally made up everything that happened.
-the time line now becomes pretty confusing...but it's best not to think about it too hard cuz according to the ending of the last episode Max should still be a zombie.
-my only real problem with the game was the icon for the game itself... it looks alright, but not really anything like the others and i think the splash1's avatar would have made a better icon.

All in all its a good episode and i cant wait for the season finale!

- Loved the time travel, though it did get a bit confusing once past Sam and Max showed up. Reminded a bit of Space Quest 4, but mostly of DoTT.

This episode demonstrates the true strength of the episodic format. They do stand-alone stories most of the time, but then once in a while they do a story that builds on all of the existing continuity in a cool way. It's nothing new, really, because some of the best TV series have done the same thing. But it's the first time a video game series has done it. And I think this is the point where they've proven that an episodic game series can actually be better than a full-length game, for the same reason a TV show can be better than a movie.

As for length and difficulty: I beat it in 4 or 4.5 hours. I went through most of the game in one long sitting last night, but I got stuck and tired. Tonight I still couldn't figure out what to do, so I actually used the hint system for the first time ever. (I hadn't quite caught on to the fact that September 2008 is the future, so the "talk to Superball in the future" dialog option didn't completely click with me.) I think this episode is really gripping and really makes you want to play through it in one sitting more than any previous episode. So I wouldn't ask for it to be longer. The difficulty was just about right, I think; if I hadn't been lucky enough to figure out a few of the puzzles briefly, I could've seen myself spending as long as I did on Night of the Raving Dead. Then again, I was so eager to discuss this one on the message board that I wanted to beat it as quickly as possible.

the banang joke is the best joke in the entire Sam & Max series
I'm inclined to agree. (Well, THIS series, anyway.) The timing and facial expressions were perfect. Bizarre yet hilarious.

The episode was full of hilarious moments and was probably the funniest yet. I was actually, in the back of my mind, getting a little bit worried about season 2's humor for a while. I just wasn't sure if the "magic" was still there, even though I thought 203 was way funnier than 202. But this episode definitely nails it. I look forward to a list of quotes from this episode; right now, there are too many to remember.

I particularly liked future Sam, though. Past Sam was great for a laugh as well, with his random game-narrating comments.

Oh, and I loved the "Are you a bad enough president to rescue the dude?" Just when you thought that line had been mined dry of all its comedic potential, they found a new spin on it.

Yeah, episode 204 is just too fun. But what the hell does the devil says in the end? I'm curious!!! And I have no idea how to rewind it, or rec it in first place...

And I really liked the part where Sam & Max needed to upset agent Superball.
"Here, read this letter."
"(Throws envelope and almost kills Sam) *Mumble mumble* And where are they meeting, sir?"
"At Stinky's"
"STINKY'S?!?!?!"

I liked the game very much, but am I the only one who found it kinda anti climactic that the whole episode was advertised as being a great search for Bosco and yet we find him within the first 15 minutes of the game? Hmm... was there any reason for putting the cork in the volcano? I mean, I did it, and it was still there 100 years in the future, but I don't think it was relevant to the puzzles at all, was it? Oh well :)

I was misled at one point thinking that we needed to do some sort of puzzle with the toilet water at Bosco's... considering there's that view of Sam's face through the water when you click on it. Yet
another misleading red herring :)

By the way, I get the feeling that the whole sleigh stuff from 201 is going to happen at the very start of the episode. That'd be kind of anti-climactic to go through all the game only to be saved by something you did in an earlier episode.

However, flying away in the sled would be a PERFECT way for the opening credits to kick off.

Not much to add to the above comments...!

Oh well, maybe there is:
I found it very DOTT-like, which is of course a good thing (it's still the #1 adventure according to http://www.adventuregamers.com/display.php?id=186 ). I bought the original talky CD of DOTT back then - and last week I found the triangular box again! Weeh!

I'm actually not a very good adventurer, but I like a good laugh, so I'm playing S&M. Thus I set the hint system to 5 which helped me somewhat (it was more like Max confrimed what I was thinking already), though I had to use the Walkthrough about 2 times (sending past Sam to Superball to solve the contract puzzle and printing a blank time travel card). So I'm quite happy I got so far :)

Yep, like I said: not much more to add to the above comments!

overall it was a pretty good episode. some great lines but in the end i think i prefer 203 still. while I hate cliffhanger endings, i think it would be great becuase its a change from the typical starting a new mission in the office and going from there. season 2 will have a good continuity playing through each episode again once we get the dvd.
i was actually bummed that the ufo only had two rooms, which were pretty simplistic at that. i was hoping to solve more puzzles on the ship itself and maybe some more funny rooms. like a room with people getting experimented on, or a room full of cattle that have been altered in some way.

I absolutely loved this episode. Playing around with Bosco's heritage was awesome, and possibly the only thing that could have made that even better is if we could have other characters' spit, like Sam, Max, Stinky, Bosco (whoa that would be messed up...kinda like how Chuck Norris is his own father...), the mariachis...

All that time traveling was fun to play around with, too!

I finally finished it! The puzzles were great- they had me wracking my brain, but none of them were frustrating, obscure, or illogical. Everything made sense, even though I had to resort to hints for a few. *shame*

203 is still my personal favorite, but this episode was really something special. In addition to the brilliant puzzles, the time travel stuff was amazingly clever, and I still maintain that Telltale is full of MAD GENIUSES because how everything worked out just made my head spin- like how Sam finds all the stuff behind Bosco's counter, and Max comments on how he'd kill for a time machine- and lo and behold, they end up with a time machine, AND have to do everything in season 1 all over again! Finally, I love how this episode ties everything together in such a wacky way- you wouldn't think that "time travelling mariachis in a UFO who may or may not have an unholy contract with Satan" would be a good explanation for anything, and yet, it makes perfect sense!

Also, yay, Jurgen cameo!

They remade everything from 102, but this time they used the Bosco items, didn't they?

I totally missed that one. Did we get to hear it as they entered the portal? Great job extracting it, anyway.

Yeah, it was right at the end.

I finally got a good look as to what's in the closet in the future. Seems Future Max got another bulk order of cheese. As well as the Mariachi's guitar and trumpet, Stinky's ship wheel, a megaphone, a Torture-Me-Elmer that's in peices, a birthday cake... :D No sign of Leonard, so I'm assuming he's either dead or they let him go.

I really like the episode, it's one of my favourites. It has those laugh out loud funny moments that in my opinion 203 lacks. And, for the first time ever, I actually cared about the story of a Sam & Max game. The only minor complaint I have is that the episode is too easy. The new Sam & Max games have gotten gradually harder until 202, which, for me, struck a pretty good balance. I just hope that 205, as the final episode of the season, will be more difficult.

And I just want to say that I love the new Sam & Max games. I really do.

PS: And I'm not sure if I'm disappointed or relieved that I wasn't able to take spit samples from Sam and Max to create more hideous hybrids with Bosco.

I can't be the only person who busted a gut at the testy exchange between Sam and the time machine in Mama Bosco's shop.

I tried. It won't let you do it... can't remember Sam's exact comment, but I thought a tar/Bosco hybrid would have been very amusing :)

Just finished 204. Thanks for the great ride.

I have doubts about this episode at first: I thought the premise (time travel) is a rather corny and cliched sci-fi idea. Also, instead of a balanced mix of different types of humor -- coarse, learned, satire, wordplay, innuendo -- the early part of the game is too heavy on body-fluid jokes. The characterisation is a bit strange (How come Sam got to be the creator of Bluster Blaster?!)

But the game sure gets better later, especially after the Embarassing Idol set, when two copies of Sams and Maxes meet. The humor is more balanced. All in all, a rich, colorful and accomplished game.

Q: how did Superball began working at the White House in 1963 when he was only 41 last year, in episode 104?

He may be doing some time travel of his own. He is working for someone trying to suppress it, after all. Alternatively, he may have sold his soul in exchange for (possibly amongst other things) not aging beyond 41.

Actually I was thinking too complicated there. Since Grandpa Stinky was always talking about his "secret ingredient" in the tar cake, I thought putting the sample in the baby-maker would create a Bosco consisting of one half Bosco and the other half that secret ingredient. It took a while (and if I remember correctly Max' hint as well) until I realized that it's enough to hand the sample to Superball...

I saw that as a swipe at Anakin Skywalker creating C-3P0 for no reason whatsoever.;)

Yeah, that was what I immediately thought of as well. Somehow, I think it was an intentional reference, what with young Sam wanting to go to Penn station to pick up some power converters. :)

If old Stinky has no kids in 1980, does it rule out the possibility that he has a fully-grown granddaughter in 2008? But the two share the trait of being a ridiculously hyperbolical liar, not to mention that she knows about the tar cake.

Perhaps she is an offspring of an illegitimate child of old Stinky?

I'm sure we'll find out about Stinky in 205. Maybe she is the devil.

Great episode! It took ages to find the evidence, how Pedro died (or will die). The very last actions were hard. Actually I didn't realize to simply click Bosco at the end.

I didn't understand the logic, how past Sam & Max give the recording contract. Haven't thought it too much though.

One other thing that was neat that I don't recall anyone mentioning. I loved the little nod to the "Bill and Ted" movies in the way the time machine appeared and disappeared.

I am curious if this was a glitch or if it was a reference to Sam's future self being a little confused. About three times while I was playing Sam said some very random things that made no sense to the actions I was performing. I didn't pay it much mind the first time it happened. The last time it happened I recall him saying something like "I don't think that needs to be irradiated". He said that when I first went through the door in the spaceship. I could have misheard it since I really wasn't expecting it, but it definitely was the type of dialogue associated with using an item (which I wasn't). Did anybody else experience anything similar to that or am I going insane here?

Was this while Past Sam was on the ship? If so, then you're hearing him comment on what he's seeing. (as if an invisible player were controlling him)

So that you can swap them for a recording contract. :p
It's a game, doesn't always HAVE to make sense.
