Repeated from blog for maximum exposure:
If sam and max season 1 is coming to Wii as widescreen, do we get the widescreen update for PC as well?
I don't know if I believe it. Can you really trust those people at Telltale? So many false alarms. :D
It would have been funny (and probably really cruel) to do this on April Fool's Day.

an obvious photoshop... i wont believe it unless i see at least 2 more people, each holding 2 forms of government id, a completed organ doner card, a federal gun permit, players card, plus their grandma's (or at least a close relative) must be there to confirm id as well.. all in a video showing the wii connected to the tv in such a way that nothing else could be connected to it... plus a bunch of the girls from nellys big pimpin video (cause i know those ain't fake) and a couple of my boys taking notes all in front of the tv... then ill believe it
oh, and yeah.. if the wii version is going to be widescreen.. then i demand a widescreen of the pc version as well

During Dan's interview on GameSpot, I was sitting on the floor playing the game. *On the Wii.* You can believe what you want, but I wouldn't lie about something like this. :D
Gamespot says that it's a port of Season One. Will there be any new content?
Other than the obvious Wii-ification (i.e. new interface, menus, etc.), no. Why mess with a good thing? :p

I wish telltale all the best on their endeavor to bring sam and max to the wii. I don't think it will be a million seller but I'm sure you'll be able to round up some cash from it. Get another dev team fired up with the funds you make and start making more games. :)

I've never used a Wii before so I really don't know how well it works. I can see the cursor being extremely sensitive using the wii remote, but that's just based off the little knowledge I have on this. Hopefully it works out, because I'd love to play Sam & Max on my TV and not have to worry about my system overheating and video card crashing... blah blah.

Glad to hear that Wii owners without gaming PCs will be getting the game (I think :p), but I personally will not be buying it. I'm not into the whole buy-a-game-twice thing like some people are.
Other than the obvious Wii-ification (i.e. new interface, menus, etc.), no. Why mess with a good thing? :p
On On the Spot (http://uk.gamespot.com/video/945731/6188762/) Dan said that there would be some extra stuff for the Wii version.
Who's right? :p
I think he was referring to extras outside the game -- special feature type stuff -- but I also am not entirely sure if he was telling the truth when he said that. Dan was coloring a bit outside the lines with that remark!

Hm, knowing that TellTale Games is releasing Season One on Wii, maybe there might be a special option for a Limited Box, with Bonus stuff, like the PC Version had. As for the cost, since First Party games from Nintendo generally cost $50, with the exception of Wii Fit, my guesstimate is that Sam & Max: Season One, Wii Edition, will cost approximately.... *uses imaginary calculator, then pulls printed paper from mouth*
...40 bucks!
With all the excitement, I forgot to ask this. How are you going to distribute Season 1 on the Wii? All six episodes at once like the retail or in installments like the original release? I can only wonder how you guys will benefit from releasing a Sam & Max season in installments via their online Wii network.

I think he was referring to extras outside the game -- special feature type stuff -- but I also am not entirely sure if he was telling the truth when he said that. Dan was coloring a bit outside the lines with that remark!
Yes. I almost poked him but thought it would be inappropriate during a live broadcast. :D As I understand it the Wii version will have a few of the same extras as the PC version, but nothing new.
(For what it's worth, doing a live interview is much more nerve-wracking than I thought it would be... and I wasn't even on camera! My hands were shaking so much I had to steady one hand with the other to use the controller. :p If they'd actually asked me a question, I probably would have been like Cindy Brady staring at the red flashbulb...)
As for price, I don't think we're announcing that yet, but it'll be in line with the PC retail version. We're not out to gouge people; we just want to bring Sam & Max to a new audience.
How are you going to distribute Season 1 on the Wii? All six episodes at once like the retail or in installments like the original release?
Yes, all six episodes collected into a retail package.
Is it just me, or does that guy on the right look like Brady Culture?
I do not look like Brady Culture!
BTW, since there's some confusion on languages let me clear up one thing. The North American version (US, Canada, Mexico) will have French voice & text and Spanish text in addition to English. You will be able to set this using the Wii Menu language settings.

I was just wondering a few things:
Did you have to compress the textures quite a bit, or is it just the video that makes them look blurry?
What is up with the glitchy security cam in the Inconvenience store? Is it some sinister new plot?
Why do I still find the need to buy this game, despite owning it through Telltale's online distro, having the CD version, and being on GameTap?
Does this look cancerous to you?

It is still an early alpha build. There are various bugs scattered about and it is far from final. How it will look several months from now remains to be seen.

Great news!
But sad to hear there's no nunchuk support planned :( I was hoping that if there was a Wii version you could (optionally) use the nunchuk to move Sam around -- even on the PC I don't really like having to move by point & click on the ground. Then again, I'm one of the few ones who didn't mind the Grim Fandango control scheme so maybe I'm just a freak.

If Season One is coming to Wii, then so will Season 2, next year, since one of the missions is a Christmas Episode. And if Reality 2.0 is a part of Season One, Wii Edition, maybe this might mean that we can see a slight modification to Sam's Mario Impersonation. Something along the lines of...
"Look, Max! It's-A-Wii, Sam!"

Wow, if what was shown is considered an Alpha build, I am extremely impressed. I have always been impressed at how relatively bug free (compared to other games) the Telltale Tool is, but after seeing the video and hearing it is an alpha build I am more than excited to see the final state of the game.

I'm sure it is more complicated than that. There's got to be a lot of compatibility coding that is probably being done in the background that we are not aware of. I mean, it's one thing to program a mouse control setting, but it's something entirely different to program the Wii-mote.

Here's the box!
I third the question about 480p and DPLII.
Also, does the Wii version has all the bonus content of the all-episodes-on-one-disc package?
What was the framerate of the PC version and what's the targeted framerate of the Wii version?
I never played point and click games, and I'm very excited to play Sam and Max, as I saw bits of the TV series when it aired on Fox Kids years ago! :p
Thanks for making it possible TellTale! :D
Edit:
In case my question above regarding the bonus content wasn't clear enough, this is what I mean't:
As Wikipedia describes:
Boxed releases
There are currently two boxed releases of Season One. On May 10, 2007, Telltale announced that they would release a hybrid DVD for Season One subscribers in June; holding all six episodes of the game as well as hours of bonus material, including commentaries, behind-the-scenes info, and all of the machinima shorts. The disc is available to those who buy a Season One subscription, plus the price of shipping and handling. It was released July 28th.
Another version for the general consumer was published by JoWooD and has been available in stores since August 15. The boxed release contains a bonus printed poster featuring artwork by creator Steve Purcell, as well as "behind the scenes" videos, an interview with Steve Purcell and concept art on the disc.
Will the Wii version have all of that bonus content, including the commentaries and artwork?

Very nice with a version coming to the Wii. I'd like to join the support for optionally using the Nunchuck for movement. Often in the PC version have I sworn at the nicely moving camera which makes transitions from one side of a set to another smooth, but also at the same time make actually hitting the thing you want impossible till the camera stops moving. Nunchuck movement would at least mean you didn't suddenly end up doing through a door which just edged it's way into your field of view just as you click...those insidious doors. It's a conspiracy I tell you...that and the bermuda triangle.
Since you're only really left clicking except to put away a held inventory item I could suggest the B button to open the inventory so you don't have to click the box to open it. It's neat to use a wiimote for point'n'click adventure games, but some things can get a bit hard to hit, and it's bound to be a bother when Sam starts walking left because you missed the box again.
As for the wii cover. That has got to be a fake. Max should be holding a Wiimote instead of a bat as we all know how Nintendo frowns on violence, well did once anyway, look at the port of Maniac mansion if you want an example.

:( It would be nice if they made season one widescreen friendly...
I don't think Wii games are required to support widescreen. Though if the Wii version of Season 1 does include it, an update of the PC version would be great.
IIRC it was mentioned that the requirement of checking and adjusting every camera angle for widescreen was the main reason why it wasn't implemented (along with some artwork glitches), so if that's being worked on for the Wii version, I would love to see the PC version updated as well. (Add in some deleted scenes/dialogs, call it a Director's Cut and I'd even pay for it again ;))

Yes, I know all of that from previous comments. I was just mainkg the comment that I would LIKE that....doesn't mean it is going to happen. Actually what would be nice is if it would work at widescreen resolutions, BUT would display as 1:1 (black bars on left and right).

I've never used a Wii before so I really don't know how well it works. I can see the cursor being extremely sensitive using the wii remote, but that's just based off the little knowledge I have on this. Hopefully it works out, because I'd love to play Sam & Max on my TV and not have to worry about my system overheating and video card crashing... blah blah.
I have a Wii myself and I have to say it's a wonderfully responsive and easy-to-use system. That aside, I hope we get Season 2 on the Wii as well! Not to mention any later seasons if they happen to be made!

(The glitchy camera and Specs' opaque glasses being two of them.)
Not just that, there seemed to be issues with transparent textures all around (i.e the hot dog case, the booze cabinet behind Bosco etc). Interestingly enough, said textures were usually grey, why were Spec's blue?
Max should be holding a Wiimote instead of a bat as we all know how Nintendo frowns on violence
Nintendo's previous president, Hiroshi Yamauchi called. He wants his hyper-family-friendly version of the company back.
In case you didn't get that obscure reference, Nintendo has (despite Microsoft and Sony fanboy propaganda) changed since the 80's, mostly since the introduction of Iwata as the new president. They no longer enforce strict censorship rules, you can have pretty much whatever you want, so long as it's not over an AO rating (which is the same for all consoles). Hell, the Resident Evil series were exclusive to the GameCube for a few years, and the remake Capcom did of the first one was even gorier. I actually find it surprising the Sony and Microsoft fanboys actually know about Nintendo's old censorship rules, I mean, what with them not being old enough to have been around in those days ;) Oh yes, before anyone asks, I actually own consoles from all three companies, though Nintendo has a soft spot in my heart :D

That box art and the August 31 release date are fake. (Which is not to say that it won't be released around that time, but we have not announced an official release date, nor have we designed the box.)
All of the transparent stuff was glitchy for the same reason. It has something to do with alpha textures. Sybil's glasses were red. :p
And you said she looked like Stevie Wonder! If they were red, then she probably looked more Elton John. :p

I agree that it's a good pose for them, but that background is way too bright. Almost blinding. And kinda bland looking. I'd say it would be perfect except for that background. Still, it would be eye-catching as is, but there's other ways to be eyecatching han a too bright background. :)

Are you referring to your selection screen or Valve's?
While I can appreciate Valve's minimalistic method of bringing all of the Orange Box games into one package, I still can't help but feel a little bit disappointed with how they just threw it all together into an orange-colored box. Oh well, Portal easily makes up for the disappointment. :P

We're doing the game justice on the wii, though. Widescreen to you may be "Just getting silly," but it required time on our parts to go and fix all the 4:3 compositions to work at a wider aspect ratio. Also, the UI has been tweaked for consoles, allowing you to select dialog options and inventory items (and browse the menu) with the d-pad as well as with face buttons, and there is a new, pretty episode launcher. The Wii version also marks the return of a favorite Sam & Max cursor of yore.

You're playing a mutant never-released version, then, as the Hit the Road UI is done by cycling the cursor between Sam's hand, a squeeze toy, a giant eyeball, and a few other things, for different functions (walk to, use, look at, etc).
