Help with Cow race game

I am having a lot of trouble with the Cow race game I can't seem to get the catapult to stay still I hit the target 1 out of 3 shoots. Is there a trick to it?

It's supposed to be wobbly. You have to have very good depth perception to be able to pass that. Let alone get the 20 wins.

It's not so much a question of WHERE you shoot, but WHEN you shoot.
