I've had the points for months and i'm not complaining :D. I've basically not played my Wii since I got the points, it's waiting for this game, though I probably should play some more Wii Fit... it's been so long the next time I update it my virtual trainer will likely either slap me in the face or quit. I dunno... I would have expected some announcement by now, listing the impending release date... (assuming it is tomorrow... which i am now beginning to doubt)

Many of you know that i am not much of a HR fan, (in fact i am only getting this game for its puzzles) But despite that, I feel the need to speak out here and the voices in my head are telling me to go on a little rant in defense of telltale and this awesome game...

One of the cornerstones on Telltales episodic model is that they deliver on time and with minimal delays (if any at all). The thought of Nintendo holding the game back another month is simply not cool... Nintendo is making telltale look bad, making them look like a bunch of lairs! and trashing their otherwise perfect record :mad:

So, personally... I will be buying the pc version, my money is going to telltale. Nintendo has earned no love from me, they can sit on the Wii version, and let it go to rot for all i care.

I use such strong words for one reason...

I may not have much love for the Wii... But what i truly hate is Nintendo holding back a game just because its an adventure title, (Sticking the game with the inherent, "Adventures don't do well" stereotype) and releasing other less interesting games before it... Simply because they are "surefire sellers"

I know there is no source or grounds for my above comment... But its the vibe i am starting to get, and if the game gets delayed again... we will see if others don't start to agree with me

What IGN said is true - we have submitted the game to Nintendo, and as soon as we get approval from them, it will be released quickly after that. We really are in the home stretch. :D We've been waiting to announce a release date until we have that approval, though, because until that happens, well, anything can happen!

The PC release has been receiving its final spit-shine clean-up pass at the same time as the Wii release. As Emily said, there have been some last minute niggling bugs we've been stomping out, and that pertains to both versions of the game.

Fortunately, as the programmers close down episode one, episodes two, three, and four are also coming along swimmingly (making it) on their own. Getting all the pieces of the crazy SBCG4AP started up and moving was a little more intense than we expected, but I think we're over the hill at this point, which means we can't do much but hang on as we go barreling down out of control into the unsuspecting town below. Or something.

How is it not tomorrow? It says July as the release date for awhile. Since Monday is when all dl Wii games release, it has to be tomorrow, as it is the last monday of the month.

If it has changed, then why hasn't telltale told us? It should be everywhere, not just known on these forums.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but the game is not coming out tomorrow. :(

What IGN said is true - we have submitted the game to Nintendo, and as soon as we get approval from them, it will be released quickly after that. We really are in the home stretch. :D We've been waiting to announce a release date until we have that approval, though, because until that happens, well, anything can happen! Getting games into WiiWare is a new process for us and we're learning as we go, so I'm sorry if any of you are disappointed that tomorrow is the last Monday in July and you won't have a Strong Bad game to play. On the plus side, we're closer now than we've ever been, and very soon we should be able to tell you exactly when it's coming out!

Also, I'd like to preemptively say that contrary to some comments I've seen people making here and there, Nintendo has NOT been sitting on the game for months. We were still working on getting some bugs fixed until fairly recently. So please don't assume that they're some evil empire that's been hoarding the game since June because they don't want you to have it. Everyone we're working with at Nintendo wants the game to come out just as badly as we (and you!) do.
I'm mostly quoting this because most people seemed to have missed it.

Also, think about it from Nintendo's perspective too: What if the pirate/paint/and pong games were submitted a while ago, and Telltale only submitted SBCG4AP in mid July...do you think Nintendo's going to go "Well, there are a bunch of people on Telltale's site clamoring for a release date, so we'll put their game out first." That's not fair to other developers, so don't act like Telltale's game should be Nintendo's #1 priority just because you want to play it.

Nobody is the bad guy in this situation. Games take time. Be patient, and stop overreacting over a delay of barely over a month.

Seesh, it was just My Opinion about Wii Ware games. Most Wii Ware games are crappy, only a few are good, Dr.Mario, Lost Winds.........um, i don't know anymore. I know there are some other good ones, but thats all i can think of. Please post the other ones.

This seems a little ridiculous. Telltale finished the game yes? They, the company that made the game does not know when it is being released or how much it costs. Really? I mean think about it. Really? This is why pc gaming will always be best especially with digital distribution. It just boggles my mind that the company making the game doesn't even know how much it costs or when it is released.

I am a Valve gamer primarily and even though they are terrible with release dates they ALWAYS have a valid reason why. Usually it's to make the game better not because they didn't know how to release it. It was just piss poor planning by telltale. I mean I kind of liked sam and max but I got bored by season 2.

In conclusion: It's not just me being an impatient gamer, really. I'm going on vacation tomorrow and I can wait another month for it. What pisses me off is the sheer mediocrity and unprofessionalism of telltale. I pray to god this game is good.

The Chaps are helping with everything, which is super cool. They take a pass on the script and fill it with weird Chapmanesque bits that we wouldn't have thought to put in there. They have puzzle suggestions which are great and often help smooth out the clunkier parts, or introduce a hilarious element that makes a good part better. They've even contributed some art, including random textures like the pennants which hang on the wall in the laundry room, some effects, and tons and tons of reference artwork. And they also of course do the voices.

Fortunately they also do all of this in a very collaborative way that makes it really fun and rewarding, and not overbearing or weird or something. So, that's also cool.

Being a developer, I know that deadlines are pesky little things and quality has to come before meeting a time-line, but I'm officially annoyed. Your business people need to ask the developers to "Realistically Quote" a project. I'm pretty sure only a few things happened here to push the date this far:

1) Business Over promised on the website? (Most likely)
2) Game needs different plot. (in which case I WILL cry)
3) Story doesn't work
4) Mechanics aren't what the finished product needs (another thing I might cry over)
5) Quotes were way off, running over, or didn't count in peoples vacations
6) Project was put on the shelf due to developer constraint with other more important things?

This is so unnecessary. I'm sure TellTale had perfectly good reasons to do what they did, and it isn't even entirely their fault. The process of getting a WiiWare game on Nintendo takes a while, and i'm sure they're not used to this. Also, the quote saying it will be out in July was from one of the Chapman brothers, not TellTale, and they're not used to making full-fledged games so you can't blame them, either.

Not to mention, this is Telltale's first time working with Nintendo's WiiWare. Even under the best of circumstances it's going to be a learning experience as they discover how the process works and what to expect from Nintendo. just reading this makes me somewhat angry, because i sense a certain lack of respect here. telltale's decision to postpone their initial release of the game for one month was absolutely right. if you notice the product is not to your full satisfaction, it is better to fix the remaining issue and anger a few people, than to release it unfinished.
so, the game is done now and it should be out soon, so why bother, there is not much to be done now anyway. other games have been delayed much longer, just because the lettering on the box wasn't good enough.
that said i hope there will be less complaining in the future...i don't think, i will read this thread any longer.

True, delays in general are (at least in theory) good. However, there is an point where it becomes excessive. I think 6 months for a game like this could be considered excessive, since that would mean #1 would come out after the last one was originally supposed to come out (assuming a 1-month break between each episode). However, one month (which may or may not be a full month), is certainly understandable, especially considering we've only known about the game's existence for a month or two.

That also doesn't mean we can't be bummed. I agree that people who say "I want it now! You shouldn't have delayed it!" are being impatient, but I think it's alright to say "I wish I was playing it now." I definitely wish I could be playing in the next couple weeks, but I'm not gonna complain to Telltale about it.

Although I think we can all agree that if Episode 1 gets delayed as much as Zelda: Twilight Princess (a year and a half), we have a good reason to riot.

Agreed... and this is why Telltale's online distribution model works so well for the company. If they had to meet a publisher's needs for an in-store release date, there would be the potential of releasing an unpolished product. As it currently stands, Telltale makes sure they have enough time to guarantee a high level of polish on the released product. I appreciate it, TTG.

Nah, PC games aren't compatible with the Wii - it can't run or install things on SD cards anyway. There would also be a piracy risk/issue.

It might, but I have the feeling TTG will know a full week beforehand. I have a feeling not only is Nintendo checking the material for appropriateness, but are also looking for a good release date that wont conflict with other titles. They don't seem to want to launch two big titles on the same day.

My guess is either the 11th or the 18th... both bad for me, as I will be out of the country those two weeks and will have to wait til the 25th anyway. Therefore, I would love for it to come out on the 4th.
