Over at Adventure Europe ( www.adventure-eu.com ) we feature a new comic strip based on an upcoming 3rd person comedy adventure game called Ankh. You have to be registered in the Adventure Europe club in order to see the comic, but registration is free and gives you access to other comics (like Adventure Island for example:

as well as our forums (and also contests, art gallery and videos in the future). We hope you enjoy the new comic. Special thanks to Rebel Games for providing us with the comic.

So what, if anything, are people hearing about this game Ankh? I know it was brought up earlier in these forums, and I have read a (very small) bit on Adventure Gamers about it.

It is a "3rd person adventure" - but that is the extent of my knowledge. I have never heard of the company making it (Deck13? or something similar)

Hi,

You will find more info about Ankh at www.deck13.com (http://www.deck13.com)!

Well, it seems their site is down (as well as theinventory.org), but I think the comic is also featured in the April 2005 issue of The Inventory's online magazine, which is also hosted at Just Adventure on this page. (http://www.justadventure.com/TheInventory/TheInventory.shtm)

Well according to www.adventuregamers.com Telltale has officially been linked to the Deck13 project, Ankh. The adventuregamers site says, "Telltale will provide creative feedback throughout the development of the game, which is scheduled for release this winter." Check it out (http://www.adventuregamers.com/newsitem.php?id=991)

Has Telltale announced anything regarding this on the site - have I missed something? If not hopefully they will have something to say as to what "creative feedback" really means.

Since Deck13 is a German developer, I guess maybe the "creative feedback" would involve fine-tuning the English localization version, so the jokes and all still hold up over here. Because maybe German jokes don't mean the same if directly translated to English. Which explains how "Why did the chicken cross the road?" is not a funny joke.

If that is originally a german joke, i'd be delighted if you enlightened me as to what the original joke/meaning is.

not that I know of. I should have been less specific. It could be a joke crossing any two language barriers. it's just an example of a horribly unfunny joke that theoretically could have come from another language where it might possibly actually be a side splitter. but I could make up some history for you, if you like.

of course, I was joking about "why did the chicken" in particular. that's probably the US's fault for being so unfunny.

That is a pretty good guess - I was thinking maybe it may have something to do with Telltale's new 3D game engine as well. Or maybe they will be in charge of ensuring that Deck13 meets US standards for number of chicken related jokes per hour.

At least one of those chicken jokes has to have a pulley in the middle of it. Rubber is optional and at the developer's discretion.

Right, it's not easy to find Germans with humour - so if you finally found some, you should be extra gentle and play all of their games! Oh, and Deck13's predecessor of Ankh (see www.artexsoft.com) was only released in the UK, and people liked it, so unless the British don't have humour either, there's hope :)
