Never played Mario yet sadly, but loved Sonic as a kid. Was gonna borrow Mario at the weekend from work but I went for Lego Indiana instead. I'm desperate to though so I think it's going to be my next one. I feel ashamed for not playing it yet!

Buying a game without any indication of whether or not you'd enjoy it is generally a bad idea. The only Mario games I've enjoyed personally are the spin-offs. The other games have high production values, I know. I still feel like they aren't particularly my cup of tea(the original Donkey Kong excluded).

...Actually, and I'm sure I'm the only person with this view, I find the Wario games far more enjoyable than Mario games.

I love Sonic, for the most part. There are still a couple good games here and there, it's just that they've lost a lot of what made the series great. I'm possibly the only Sonic fan looking forward to Unleashed, it looks pretty good to me. Yeah, the werewolf bit raises an eyebrow or two. But I'll give it a shot. The series has been experimenting with different gameplay dynamics since the second and third games, so I can comfortably say that I'm willing to give Sonic a shot.

"Cheap"? I'm not sure why I'm defending Sonic, I rarely use him (Kirby's my #1 choice, and not because of his special attack, I never use that; eating people and stealing their powers, now THAT'S cheap), but I don't see how he's cheap. Please explain, if only to ail my questioning mind.

sorry im a little late to the sonic heroes part but that was like my 2 fav game in the world (kingdom hearts is my first)and the 2 strange things are that i never actually bought it i just rented it and that im the kind of person who picks characters by look not by status or somthing like that and chaotix was my fav but then i tried all teams and i realized that rose (or whatever it was called) team was actually my best and i almost beat the game with them.:confused:

Ohh. Cheap, as in taking "cheap shots". However, you must also remember that this is making up for his special attacks, oh which 1 does no damage, 1 is only effective in extremely close range, and 2 are almost exactly alike.

Let's look at the facts-
He collects Chaos Emeralds with the intent of harnessing their radiation. He uses this to power a friggen' huge laser. This is obviously an attempt to create clean, perpetual, and free energy. The laser clearly has two functions, it is to put the power source through a stress test and as defense against extraterrestrial threats (What would he gain from blowing up the planet?).

In a completely unwarranted fit of jealousy, Sonic consistently runs in, causes massive amounts of gratuitous property damage and scatters the emeralds across the planet. Understandably, the Doctor eventually lashes out at him.

Another criticism Sonic uses to justify his asshattery is how Robotnik puts woodland animals into robots in a process called 'robotonization'. This is an unjustified statement, the process actually creates a mechanized shell that is bio-chemically powered. The animals are so grateful for this mechanical suit that they sympathize with the Eggman and try to defend him and his research from the blue hedgehog.

From these truths, we can make the inference that Sonic participates in corporate espionage for an unscrupulous oil company employee.

Kinda hard for me to answer, because I had a Sega back in the early nineties, but today's Mario-games are obviously far superior to today's sonic games.
