Heyyyyyyyy!

We've opened up pre-orders (http://www.telltalegames.com/wallaceandgromit) for Wallace & Gromit's Grand Adventures! And what's more, if you pre-order, you'll get a 25% discount AND two free games (one Sam & Max episode, and one Strong Bad episode).

But wait, there's more! Check back Monday (that's March 16) for the playable demo, available exclusively from Yahoo! Games. Then come back AGAIN the following Tuesday to get the actual playable first episode! That's right, the game will be in the hands of you, the gamer, on March 24!

Oh wait, that's not enough? A weekend is too long to wait for more Wallace and Gromit you say? Well then, head on over to Yahoo! Games (http://videogames.yahoo.com/events/wallace-and-gromit/wallace-and-gromit-videos/1295964) for an exclusive trailer!

Demo! The demo is now up! Grab it from the Grand Adventures page (http://www.telltalegames.com/wallaceandgromit).

Of course I've pre-order, why wouldn't I? Even better to get a 25% discount and two free games to give to mates to entice them into the world of Telltale. I'm not going to play the demo as I don't want to spoil it when I actually play the game for the first time on release, but it's interesting you guys are doing that. Guess you've got something going on with Yahoo!. Either way, really excited, and glad that we got so much information and to know that the game is just round the corner.

I still can't get over how reasonable Telltale is with their licenses. 9 developers out of ten would say "so you've bought it already? Too bad for you."

Woo! I'm sure I've not pre-ordered anything that fast before.

Fortunately the game is coming out just after my mini-dissertation is due so that should get my undivided attention. But why did you reverse your policy on early release of demos just now? I'm a sucker for them, downloading the spore creature creator the night before one of my exams last year. If I fail to hand anything in on the riveting subject of Newton's Principia it's all your fault...

Ah, somehow missed the dates!

The slashed, pre-order price of the season is right about where I expected the price of this season to be, considering the smaller episode count. As long as I'm not boiling with righteous consumer fury after messing with the demo, I'll probably go for that.

Looks great, since I can't pay today because banks are closed here at weekends, Monday it is. I don't think I'll play the demo either considering it's just barely more than a week... well, maybe I'll try play around with the controls a bit to see which scheme is the best :D (the Xbox controller was supported, wasn't it?).

Also:

XBLA games have to be released on Wenesdays... and the 24th is a tuesday...

It looks like the PC version will follow a different schedule from the XBLA one since it's not getting the first episode at least until May (unless they change their minds).

Ribs

Not neccesarily. Last August's Weeks of arcade saw the surprise release of the Fable II Pub Games.

LittleBuddy
03/14/2009, 07:25 am
Yep, it's definitely possible since that would fix the schedule discrepancy, it's just that they've already announced that one the games of the promotion will be released unexpectedly. We'll see...

HappyCoincidence
03/14/2009, 09:48 am
Out of curiosity, why only 4 games? I noticed the bundle full-price (or maybe there is no bundle) is the same as the past 5-game series bundles. Are these games longer, more intricate? Of course, don't get me wrong--I think your prices are extremely low for the value of the games anyway, and you'll have my money shortly regardless. It's just us with economics/marketing degrees always have to question when our math doesn't add up. Despite any skepticism, I too am really excited to play.

LittleBuddy
03/14/2009, 09:56 am
According to previews, yes, those episodes seem to be around 4-5 hours long each, so in total they should be about the same length than the other series.

Hi there. Decided to take up the pre-order offer.

But I read in the support forum a message that was posted a year ago that stated if you pay via Paypal and don't have all the funds in your account, you have to enter your credit card information. Does this still apply?

Thanks again for a great demo!

Other than a few gripes with the new control scheme, the actual feel of the game and gameplay was perfect! The choreography of the vehicle scene was beyond fantastic... if that scene is any indication of gameplay sequences to come, this is going to be one excellent season. Voice acting was also great. My only disappointment (other than the controls) is that the season is only 4 episodes long... I am sure I will be hankering for another episode after I finish the fourth!

Looking forward to playing the game, and thank you for releasing the demo in advance of the full game.

Well I did preorder but still I felt a bit "cheated" (not the correct term) about the sam&max and strong bad episodes, as I'd already bought and played all of them. So it goes down to the cheapened price (happy about that) but only that. Oh well, can't win em all.. :) (I guess I'll go and stare my sam&max statue now)

EDIT: Excellent customer service. Indeed, I can gift them to my friends so I'm very happy with this solution. Thanks Emily and all :) .

I don't represent the marketing team, but I think the reason we give out those episodes are because we're trying to give people who haven't played our other games a chance to try them out. And that one episode will hopefully just wet their appetite and leave them wanting more. I don't think we're trying to give away whole seasons for free.

Also... I don't think its aimed at people who already own our whole collection :)

Also also.... its a free game... how can anyone complain?

Yeah, the promotion isn't for me, or for us. Actually giving people who pre-order a discount as a policy is nice though, it makes people that own the episodes feel less "gipped" when a free episode is released later down the line, even when such an action isn't really necessary.

I'm kind of surprised that they keep giving them away for so many things, really. It's getting kinda silly, and almost makes me wonder why they don't just drop it Abe Lincoln style. But I'm not the marketing department, and I'm no marketing guy.

Really, Telltale's job isn't to give me games for free. And I'm fine with that.

If we make a something free then it's just always free! When there's a chance that something might be free, people might pay more attention. Who knows? We have 18 episodes altogether, and that will be up to 22 at the end of W&G, which is a decently formidable catalog at this point, so we have enough content amassed now that we can throw some of it around for promotional purposes without freaking ourselves out.

Also, since SB and Sam & Max episodes are still normally of monetary value, it means that once you get the free one as part of a promotion, it's a valid ticket to upgrade. You can't do that with Lincoln Must Die!

None of that is rocket science or anything, it's just a thing we do. I'm glad that I work at a place that seems to be so into constant giveaways and freebies and things like that.
