Full Throttle Help

I was at blockbuster yesterday and I saw that they were selling old games in a 3 pack for $9.99 (marked down from 14.99)
Since I have been out on the look for old Lucas Arts games, I thought I'd check, and guess what....to my surprise they had one with full throttle! So I got it... and brought it home, installed it on my comp, etc. It ran fine except for sound. It was very difficult to get the sound to work, and when I eventually got some sound from messing with it, it was all choppy, voice and music.
So I searched online about this problem (I'm running xp, btw) and ended up downloading VDMSound. I got it to work, and it gave me sound, but now my only problem is that the voice is going faster then normal. Is this something I can slow down by pushing some key command, or is it just software/hardware problems. VDMSound doesent say anything about fixing this in the readme.
Does anyone else play full throttle on xp? and what do you do to make it run decently?
I tried ScummVM but I'm totally lost on how to use it. It doesent find my game at all.
DosBox is annoying also.

I find myself asking what Blockbuster was doing with PC games for sale... Did they used to rent them?

Anyway, ScummVM should work. If you're having trouble configuring it to work with your games, there is a front end that can be downloaded called ScummVM Quick And Easy. It's supposed to make it more user friendly. I haven't used it myself, though, since I haven't had trouble with ScummVM by itself. I think you have to have both programs on your computer for it to work.

They were brand new jewel cases. all marked down on clearance. They also had a 3 pack with monkey island 4.

The pack I got came with Outlaws (another lucas arts game) and Shogun: Total War (which was a game I used to really wanna get back when it was brand new)

The site has Quick and Easy VMD Sound too... I'll try that first! thanks for the link.

They weren't bad for the time of release, but the art direction is great.

ScummVM is pretty easy - according to the scummvm website Full Throttle is 85% compatible with ScummVM so there is a chance you will still get csome minor bugs.

The key to finding the game using Scummvm is to make sure you are looking in the correct directory. Right click on your Full Throttle shortcut and check the properties to see the exact path the game file is installed in (something like: program files/lucasarts/full throttle/ft.exe) Make sure you click the "choose" button in ScummVM when you are in the directory that has the ft.exe file.

Personal Note: Dosbox is not annoying. It is simply archaic - for those of us who actually used Dos back in the 80s, it is actually a really nice trip down memory lane when computers never crashed.
