For those of you who were not a part of the Monkey Island community back in the days, there was a lot of fanart, as can be seen here (http://www.worldofmi.com/features/fan/art/)

I don't know about you guys but I got inspired right away when I saw the Tales of Monkey Island footage and I've been sketching like a madman the past two days.

Any artists in here? I'm curious if we'll see some new ecxiting work. And I of course hope dat some old favorites like Ado (http://www.worldofmi.com/features/fan/art/index.php?artist=2) will come back to make some more masterpieces :)

Years ago I pulled up a neat little site I used from time to time called artPad and came up with this:

To be honest...when I started I had no idea where I was going with this thing. The part that became Guybrush's neck was originally his ponytail but I decided it was too far down...and too huge.

Then by the time I got to LeChuck's hat I simply couldn't make up my mind. It was kind of brashly thrown together, but ultimately I'm happy with the end-result.

Due to forum regulations and sensitive members, the drawing contains a censor bar to retain viewable for anyone, although, honestly, there's nothing there, no really... I just put the text there to be safe...

Regretably, i haven't even played a single MI game ever, although i'd love to, especially the third, i love the art style...

This isn't very exciting fan art, but after I started working on my Day of the Tentacle Winamp Skin (http://www.winamp.com/skins/details/172170), I was having trouble coming up with designs for anything other than the main window, so I toyed for a bit with each window showcasing a different game.

Here is something presentable at least. It's not painful drawing, but its clean, simple . I'll have to post something you are more costumed to , or something with a little more time put into it later. Sorry for the quality I don't have a scanner . It is from a camera photo. It looks like I smudged things but I did not . It was all line. I think I might do the next one with the help of markers .

I used GIMP (www.gimp.org). It's a free, open-source replacement for Photoshop, but I don't recommend it if you already have Photoshop.

Majus: I'm not sure how the line quality may differ from PS to Flash (I've never used Flash before). But my philosophy is stick with what you're comfortable with. :)

Voodoo spells work on Elaine, that's already established when she was turned to gold in CMI. So logically, this should be possible too :cool:

Irishmile, I preffer the second lot, for the Ghost Pirate should resemble how he looked, as it is his spirit in escense; and then when it reaches his zombie form is when it should resemble the corpse and skeletal nature of his being.

I redid the hats, Demon lechuck got redone... charred skull and a better beard I got lazy on the first one and used a cheapy filter... the second one is painted over... I had never painted fire before... so I dunno how convincing it is.... thanks for your input.... Trying to get this as best as my skills will allow.

The fire does look better, and convincing as fire, though maybe a bit more shaded spots are needed in the middle. Perhaps some fire in or behind the eyes may look good? A firey tint or something, if you think it could work.

I've been dying to do some fanart, especially after seeing Ryan's designs and sketches! I changed Guybrush a little bit so I wouldn't feel like I was flat out copying Ryan, kind of wanted to give him my own spin.

No idea why he's fighting an effeminate pirate...he was supposed to be a generic bad guy and after I drew his pose I thought it'd be way funnier to give him a flamboyant personality.

Mandatory Murray cameo of course, since after Guybrush he's my favorite Monkey Island character :)

Lemme think... I was 13 years old! I had a second comic published on WoMI, but due to a major hack (or a huge technical problem, not sure) it was lost. It was a parody of Last Crusade featuring Guybrush as Indy and Stan as his dad.

Actually, I enjoyed reading it. Would be great if you continued making comics. :)

Hmmm, why should we make it fake? I mean, we won't have any right to use the LucasArts logo or to sell the game (which, I'm sure, no one wants to do), so, why fake?
We can actually do a fangame based on the series, with an original story, graphics that we all agree upon (:p) and original soundtrack etc.

Ron Gilbert still has his own version of MI3 (in his head), why don't we make our version of MI5? Anyone interested?

Guybrush didn't have a set look until CMI. Since then he's had the same looks and voice, so why ruin a good thing.

But is that really 'to begin with', what with it being the 5th game in the series. And she didn't strike me as particularly skinny in SMI... but I guess I wasn't paying attention to the way she looked. Especially with all the pixilation...

Iiii think it's pretty obvious that Elaine's body isn't meant to be realistic at all. How many people in real life have bangs that defy gravity? Her shoulders (and Guybrush's for that matter) are also way too narrow for a normal human being if I remember my high school art class anatomy correctly.

Besides, if there's anybody in Monkey Island who could stand to eat a sandwich or two, it's Guybrush himself. Poor guy's thin as a rail. :D

I don't know about fan games, but one of these days I'd really like to make an original game with Adventure Game Studio. I just need to learn the scripting language and, um, have a good idea for a game. Also I'm a terrible animator; static sprites are one thing, but I suck at making things move.
