I want to order Tales of Monkey Island as a gift for a friend. My problem is, I cannot use his contact data (email etc) for the order, because this should be a surprise gift. How does ordering as a gift work? How/when is the ordered game linked to a specific email address?

Tales of Monkey Island isn't available as a gift right now because our gift system can't deal with the pre-order bonuses.

Once the first episode is released on July 7, you'll be able to buy it as a gift by checking the "buy this as a gift for someone else" box on the shopping cart. You will receive a gift code that you can then send to the recipient. When they redeem the code, the game will be attached to their email address and Telltale account.

Hmm, same problem here. Are you working on getting the pre-order bonuses insync with the gift system? Pre-ordering a game as a gift would be a very nice feature!

I guess I'll have to wait till the game is realeased and give it as a gift then, but that will strip the birthday kid from the bonuses, right? :(

For this cant you just technically make someone an account, buy it on their account then give them the details then they can change the email+password? Assuming they don't already have a Telltale account? When the collectors edition dvd comes out will you be able to change the address that it gets sent too when we pay for postage so that he could make it go to him?

As it's my friends birthday tomorrow and a few of us on our community site are putting some cash together

You could always create a new e-mail address for your friend and buy it through that.

EG: happybirthdaychum at googlemail.com (then just give them the e-mail account details and when they login, they'll see the surprise.)

Monkey Island has now been released, but I still can't see the "buy this as a gift for someone else" box on the shopping cart.
