Please what is wrong? I am getting a pop-up message from website "errorundefined" and the game is not opening. I have downloaded games before - not a neophyte - so, please what is wrong here?

Same here, the opening scene is wonderful. It's late so I can't continue, but now I'm REALLY looking forward to play it tomorr... later today :D

EDIT: It should run anyways? I get that too but it continues. Try downloading it again?

Yeah, couldn't really go to bed without knowing that it had been released or playing it a bit. At first, I was kinda disappointed by the graphics (I hadn't really looked at any screenshots closely), but as soon as I arrived on Flotsam Island and saw the utterly - and I mean UTTERLY - unfixable boat, I knew I was going to enjoy this immensely. It's probably been ten years since I last saw humour like this in a game.

Off to bed. Can't wait to play tomorrow - maybe I can install it at work? :)

I'm getting the same message, but the game is moving very slow.

The errorundefined message seems to be a scripting error in the webpage the game calls, but it shouldn't affect the actual game. As it's pointing somewhere dynamically, if you can wait for a bit (e.g. go to bed now), it might magically be fixed by the Telltale elves anyway.

If you can't PLAY, then there's a problem - and that's probably unrelated to THAT error message. I had to install Direct X for example - even though I'm on Vista and first skipped it because I thought I didn't need it.

I just played through the demo and it was awesome. I'm wandering what Guybrush's Treasure Hunt mini-game. Is it an in-game mini-game ala the Sam & Max mini-games or is it a completely separate entity?

But, the new "walking system" (dragging the mouse to walk) is a PITA - sorry.

Yeah, same here. The menu screen alone is impossibly slow, just pointing the mouse at something takes forever. What's the problem? Sam and Max runs so smoothly on this machine...

The game is quite intensive on the graphics side if it's set up at anything above 3, so I'd check that out. It's mostly post-processing effects like depth of field or fog which look really good but you can live without them.

it stayed true is all can say after the first scenes on the ship... Finally dialogue cutoffs feel real and Guybrush is as awesome as ever... so how about i shut up right here and swap back to TOMI because I'm not going to sleep anytime soon

Waited the whole day, now I'll play the whole night

Thanks TellTale
and best wishes to all of you working guys to be up in 5 hours for work.. I busted my leg which coincidentally happens to fit right into mi Monkey Island Masterplan

Hmm after the prologue I find that the conversations Im having with people aren't reflected by my choice for the most part.... anyone else experiencing this, is it supposed to be what he's thinking and not what he says? its not an unheard of thing to do from MI but it certainly seems more prevalent

On my machine, 2.8Ghz, 512 MB RAM, 256MB ATI card, updated directx, etc... LeChuck, the captive monkey and Elaine look like a mass of jumbled polygons, but everything else looks fine. Currently messing around with the video settings, but any suggestions are appreciated.

Edit: Changed the settings to quality of 1, at 640x480 and the game crashed completely. :-(

I'm getting the "errorundefined" error too, but it says it relates to Internet Explorer, which I rarely, if ever, use

anyway, in spite of that the game is running absolutely fine & looks fantastic, I can't believe it! I never thought there'd be another Monkey Island, thank you, thank you telltale :)

Ahh the good old Monkey Island feeling is right back. Thank you.

For those with the speed problems - set the game to a lower level. 2 or so. It works a lot faster for me now.

The drag-walk controls, well, let me put it this way. I use WASD. Which feel strange too, because the directions are not changing with the position of Guybrush. But you get used to it.

I am getting that internet explorer error as well. I ignore it, but there are no menu options to choose from or anything, I just have a grey box and the telltale logo on top but no start options. :(

It took all day to finally come out, and I still haven't received my email telling me it's out, along with my code (which I intend to turn into a gift code so I can send my best friend the first episode of Monkey Island) for my free Telltale episode.

Well, I've downloaded and installed the thing, so I guess once my computer's done with its latest spyware/virus-scanner sweep I'll start playing episode 1.

There's something more fundamentally the matter here, I fear, you're missing all of your textures!
Try clicking randomly to either side of "Gameplay settings".

All right, I found it and managed to get it to the graphics settings page. I assume I'm supposed to be clicking around "quality" and there are spots where the "X" changes to indicate a button, but clicking them doesn't get me anywhere, so I'm guessing at this point I need to contact tech support or somesuch?

First make sure that your graphics drivers are up to date. What graphics card are you using? When did you last update the drivers?

Seems likely though. Looks like I have a "Plug and Play Monitor on Intel(R) 82865G Graphics Controller" which, according to the Intel site, has been discontinued. I think the only thing I'm going to pin my hopes on now is the wii version.

Thanks for your help though! I really appreciate you trying to help me through this. Seriously, you didn't have to and it's awesome. :D

Wooo that was an amazing episode. Finished it about 30 minutes ago, it provided me 5 hours of gameplay. The episode was amazing! keep up the greatness and the monkey island series will keep its amazing quality. I was able to run it very smooth and easily with the second highest resolution, and quality level 9. I turned off the hint system completely. The puzzles are challenging and do take a while, but are not so hard that you spend hours on a single puzzle. Very nice episode. Looking forward to the next one.

Well, I just completed this first episode and well...it was ok. I would have enjoyed it better if not for two sections I had problems with:

1. The bit with the chair in the Doctor's Office. I got royally stuck there for about 10 minutes because I didn't realize you could use Up and Down (W and S) to change the orientation of the table. Once I caught on to that, the puzzle was a snap. I would have appreciated a line from Guybrush or something after a while that would have noted that you could do more than just rotate the chair.

2. The "treasure hunts" - Look, I know most of us are probably big fans of Zelda, but the forest maze in Zelda 1 was a dumb idea when that game came out and over 25 years hasn't made it any better. I wouldn't have minded it so much, but often I'd pick the wrong direction simply by virtue of wandering too far in a general direction on-screen, "moving on" before I was really ready (I was just listening for the sounds). The part with the wind later on with the second "hunt" was particularly annoying, since there didn't seem to be a rhyme or reason to why a certain direction was the right one (even when I was trying to pick it by the direction the wind was blowing). And when you screw up, you have to start the whole bloody thing over again.

Also, was there any reason why you have to go repeatedly into your menu, select to examine your maps, and then select the maps to look at them? I got rather used to just being able to click an icon on-screen to see my maps in Wallace & Grommit. This way of doing it is about 2-3 steps too many for something you have to repeatedly examine. I also miss true point & click control, not this wonky "hold & drag" mouse control. Accessing the inventory's a bit obnoxious with mouse controls as well, so I ended up just Tab-ing it everytime I needed to use it. I ended up just using the keyboard simply because it works better.

Overall, I enjoyed the game and am really looking forward to the next installment, but I really hope some of these issues get fixed in future installments.

Awesomest game ever.

LOLd hard to "Darn you, socks!" and "Can I call you D'Oro the explorer?" and "...like a Volcano!!!", and many other jokes I dont remember.

I thought you payed and extra amount of attention to details, such as Guybrush and porcelain, or the fact that instead of running, he walks a bit faster when indoors.

Also, thank God for keyboard shortcuts (for noobs: TAB opens inventory, SHIFT runs, E examines objects in inventory).

I shall adore Telltale for all eternity.

it was great, but a bit short.. this is the first game ive ever downloaded from telltale but are all episode games this short? i mean a whole month untill we will find out whats gonna happen? should be one episode every week imo.

The various games can differ in length by an hour or two, but yeah generally speaking they're all about this length. You get used to the waiting, especially since in every "season" I've played thus far the episodes get dramatically better as the season goes on (seriously, go play Sam & Max Season 1). Telltale really couldn't afford the kind of staff it would take to churn these games out as quickly as you'd want.

1. The bit with the chair in the Doctor's Office. I got royally stuck there for about 10 minutes because I didn't realize you could use Up and Down (W and S) to change the orientation of the table. Once I caught on to that, the puzzle was a snap. I would have appreciated a line from Guybrush or something after a while that would have noted that you could do more than just rotate the chair.Ummm, the second you gain control, the game tells you how to control the chair.

And when you screw up, you have to start the whole bloody thing over again.Does your mother knows you're such a whiny bitch?

Also, was there any reason why you have to go repeatedly into your menu, select to examine your maps, and then select the maps to look at them? I got rather used to just being able to click an icon on-screen to see my maps in Wallace & Grommit. This way of doing it is about 2-3 steps too many for something you have to repeatedly examine. I also miss true point & click control, not this wonky "hold & drag" mouse control. Accessing the inventory's a bit obnoxious with mouse controls as well, so I ended up just Tab-ing it everytime I needed to use it. I ended up just using the keyboard simply because it works better.Just write it the f*ck down.

Wow, someone woke up on the wrong side of the ancient voodoo curse this morning. As for the Chair thing, I glanced at that message and saw that you could use the keyboard to rotate the chair. I didn't notice the bit about being able to pull the chair back, and that message doesn't come up again after that initial display so I got stuck.

I hate my computer. Just last night it got infected with a virus, and stupid Norton isn't helping! I hadn't ever had a virus before this year, but now I'm suddenly getting them regularly. I just got it fixed from the last one just a few months ago! Why now!?

i was so shattered when the credits rolled though, im not a huge fan of episodic content, but for ToMI it's totally worth it.

Point-and-click just doesn't work very well in true 3-D environments. Especially with the camera angles that Telltale tries to pull off. They don't want to sacrifice the game's cinematic nature.

I've played both the "hula hoop" and WASD controls for some time now (hula hoop before the arrival on Flotsam and WASD since then) and I have to say, I prefer the WASD controls. I would have expected "true" point'n'click though, but I don't have any complaints. It feels very natural.

I only had time for a 3/4 hour look at it and all I can think about right now is how to get a ninjasword - like item for a pirate doll. This indicates for me that Telltale has succeeded in bringing back the spirit. I really like the game, graphics, speakers, musik etc.. Controlls are putting me off a little. But thats, by far, not enough to spoil the experience!

it would be excellent if Telltalegames brings the old control panel from MI 3 back ..

Other question : How long takes the first episode ? Hours of playing ?

Hours of playing? I don't know, I got interrupted quite a few times while I was playing, but I'd say it took me more than four hours. The puzzles were satisfying and varied and even more complicated then the puzzles in the first episode of a Telltale game usually are, plus I kept playing through some character's dialogs just to hear them talk again *cough*Marquis de Singe*cough*McGee*cough*. Plus clicking on things to see what their floaty-description things read as after each click. Plus the book titles ... yeah. Matters on your playing style I'd say.

With being as spoiler free as possible - I'm 2 hours in the game and have completed 2 of the 3 tasks you are given when you first arrive on Flotsam. (And I have to say, the treasure task really got me fooled. Good job with that one, guys!)

Since I haven't even heard the names of the guys Lena_P just mentioned it seems like it will still go on for a while, though.

I've found myself clicking and holding the cursor waiting for the coin to appear :D WASD controls are fine, the new cinematic cameras are incredibly cool, graphics are top notch as well as MI is not supposed to be photorealistic. i'm not that excited about the next episode (havent got the first yet, can only play it on wiiware :( ) because has anybody noticed the strange traditon of quality in telltales previous games.

For example, alot of people found the first episode of season 1 and 2 of sam and max strong. While alot of people found the second and third episodes to be weaker in season 1 and 2. Yet most people agree that for some unexplained reason both seasons best episode is the 4th.

I'm reading to much into this i know but it will be interesting to see if the second episode of mi follows this pattern of quality.

p.s i'm very curious if the 4th mi will follow this tradition also.

Before the big episode 2, release wiiware version. My computer sucks, It might handle all sbcg4ap games, but if is true that this episode takes more space than 2 sbcg4ap episodes combined, my computer wont survive it, but my wii could take it with the memory extension pack.

yeah I kinda admit the music was lacking a little. it's sounded even like MIDI at times. After Sam and Max's music, I guess I was expecting more.
Anyway I just finished it then and I bloody enjoyed it immensely. there were some actual "LOL" moments which is pretty rare for me. The length was great and the puzzles fit perfectly. It was better than I expected. Well done, Telltale. You've achieved alot in the past few years.

Game looked great and the gameplay was awsome. 2 remarks:
1. the island overviews were a bit cheap. I refer to the first island birdseye view and the island which we see at the end of episode 1. MI3 gave it a much more atmosferic look.

2. the dokter in episode 1 looks to much like that ga*ish rainbow dude from a sam&max (season 1?) dude. He annoyed me.

A lot of people didnt get how to return to the ancient thing and the idol places after they followed it through the map .. i.e they didnt realize you could go there directly from the brids eye view

I guess TTGs could make new locations on the map shine with a klingly noise when you first see them in B.eye.view?

TLDR: Loved it; gimme more!

Longer version in bullet-point form because it's late and my brain's having trouble coming up with amusing framing and linking sentences.

New controls are a little bit meh. The mouse control suffers from the same problem that Overlord does: mapping an absolute offset device to a directional control just doesn't work.

Can I suggest something to try, at least in future games? Keep the current mouse setup but add a little red dot that shows where the cursor is, then have Guybrush follow that dot. Then, we can actually see the mouse movements.
The new LeChuck... just doesn't sit properly. I think it's because I'm used to CMI's deep, bellowing LeChuck. The new one comes across like a crotchety old man, especially when he says "Threepwood; so good of you to join us!" I wouldn't have been at all surprised to see him brandishing a cane and wearing bifocals at that point.
Can you add double-click to instantly go to a map location? Running around the map is cool... but also gets old when you keep needing to ping-pong between the beach and one of the idols.
The puzzles were good. None of them felt unfair, although there were a few that I got very stuck on because of wording or other factors. The standout for me was showing the face to the Marquis because he'd previously mentioned "evidence." If he'd, I dunno, left a smear of makeup or something on it, I would have considered it evidence.

Another was getting whatsisname off the Narwhal. I'd completely missed that I could climb along the washing line because I'd already seen the winching action. It makes sense in hindsight; I just wasn't expecting there to be another action tied to clicking on the rope itself.
Is that you, Murray? It goes (sound of candle burning). It's a decorative lighting ornament. That's not you, Murray! Where's my Murray?
The humour was good; it still feels a bit like the early Sam & Max episodes did: you're still finding your stride.
I really had to bang my head on the desk with putting the root into the beer bit. That was just awful. Awful in a good way, mind you.
The most horrible closet in the world made me laugh out loud, as did the foreshadowing trunk.
The depth of field effects were nicely done; just enough to make the eyes drift to whatever was "in focus" but not overt enough to actually be noticed off-hand. This really is the best-looking game you've made thus far. The zoom to map is also very cool.
I hope your servers are feeling better today. I do wish you'd told us there was a last-minute bug; I could have gone to bed a few hours earlier. :S
Who the heck was that guy Guybrush punched at the start of the episode? He has exactly the same head (sans hair) of the glass-blower, yet we never see him again. Because we only see him for a few seconds, I was really confused when I talked to the glass-blower and he didn't seem to remember me.
Speaking of the glass-blower, am I the only one who gets the impression his face is made out of sheet metal? The way it reflects the light just looks... off and unnatural.
On the whole, I really enjoyed it. I definitely like the characters' new appearances (well, except maybe LeChuck who looks like an elephant sat on his head, and then kissed a puffer fish) and the Marquis is great fun ("Science!"). I'm really looking forward to the next episode!

I'm hoping the people from Telltale will be reading this thread because there's a returning issue wich I would like to adress. You see, ever since the begining there has been a limited choice of resolutions. I was happy to see that Wallace and Grommit had a wide range of resolutions, including widescreen 1280 * 768. For me, that's very important because my PC is hooked up with my widescreen Hi-Def TV. It doesn't handle very many resolutions and non widescreen resolutions are smeared over the screen. It works, but isn't very nice or pleasant.
I hoped that all games following W&G would incorporate these resolutions, but it seems Monkey Island doesn't! I think it's a pity, and I hope these will be added in the future...

Just finished the episode, and loved it. It was a bit on the easy side, but I guess that is to be expected from the first episode. I agree with the complaints about the mouse controls, although I got used to the WASD controls pretty quickly. Perhaps it is an idea to have an item slot on screen at all times? So you can quickly open the maps when you need them?

Anyway, loved this episode and am looking forward to the second one!

Played it, and ultimately, I'm satisfied. It was funny, Guybrush was competent again (he's actually more confidant than he's ever been) and there were little jokes I loved, such as item names changing if you examine them once or multiple times. The story felt a little rushed, but I know that the way the story is told has to be different from past games since they have less time for exposition.

And now, on to complaints.

Just a minor one, but I think Guybrush would look better if he didn't squint so much. He just looks off to me.

This is a problem that Telltale games always have, and I don't know how many other people have noticed, but if you take an object out of your inventory and try to use it on something, and nothing happens, instead of the object remaining in use so you can try something else, it goes back into your inventory. It's inconvenient, and there's no reason for it.

Some of the puzzles were frustrating, mostly the path to the temple. It's hard to tell sometimes which way the vane is blowing, because of the way the view switches. I also fell prey to the bottle breaker glitch, and partially because of that I became stuck. But when I tried to use the hint system, it just told me to go to my ship, which had nothing for me to do. I don't know if the glitch directly interfered with the hint system, but it seems the system may need refinement so it knows exactly what left needs to be done.

There are several points at the game where you're given multiple dialog options, but anyone you pick will trigger the same response (I haven't played through the game again, so some of these instances I just suspect, but the dialog didn't specifically relate to my choice). This is funny, on occasion. But it should be used very, very sparingly, otherwise it just comes off as lazy, and giving the player less control.

Finally, it's not too bad yet, but it seems like the game may be edging too close to being too modern (the printing presses and the like). I'm fine with some of it, but going too modern is one of the reasons people often dislike Escape.

I also feel like the game hasn't quite captured the heart of Monkey Island. I know that's too vague a complaint to be useful, but I feel like something's missing. Perhaps it'll come back once the story gets underway.

All in all, I'm glad the series is back, and here's hoping it just keeps getting better.

I still have no finished the episode, and I'm having fun like a ten years old boy.

Great work Telltale games and thank you very much for the game.

I just hope the game to be translated to spanish (voices included!). I've got lot of friends waiting for that and with my review of the game their gonna beg for a translation.

Well, gonna stop playing or i'm going to finish everything in just 1 day, I want to taste it slowly. :P

Congratulations, Telltale, to an extremly wonderful Monkey Island game! It's not just that the game per se is great, it truly feels like Monkey Island. Looking at the other reactions it seems I'm not the only one who thinks so. Having that good reactions on the first day is pretty rare these days. You've announced something a shitload of people are looking forward to, the expectations couldn't be higher - those are normaly ingredients for getting bad critics. No matter how good your product would be, you couldn't match the expectations.
But you did it!

The humor was spot on, the graphics look really good - the game looks (and sounds) wonderful. The story is interesting and the cliffhanger makes one hunger for more. Can't wait for it!

Thank you for bringing Monkey Island back! Hopefully this first season is just the beginning...

Great start to the series, loved the references, the puzzles, the humor, the wit and everything else that Monkey Island offered before... if this keeps up, I don't care what the lead developer says about this not being canon, this is MUCH better than CoMI and miles better than Escape.

Just finished it... Didn't want to finish it in only one day because there's such a long time to wait now but I just couldn't stop myself ^^
I also think that it's a bit too easy but if that changes over the episodes I'll be perfectly fine...
I like the story/atmosphere/humour/graphics/new characters... a well... I think I just like everything about this TRUE MONKEY ISLAND adventure...
Can't wait to see the next episode...
By the way... if I had to guess I would say that the woman at the end of Episode 1 is Carla the swordmaster of Melee Island.

Okay, first off, this was my first ever Monkey Island, so I wasn't sure what to expect. But I was very pleasantly surprised. The game was great! It had some of the best puzzles in Telltale's history, especially the Doctor's Office, which as I already said, is my favorite puzzle in Telltale history. The graphics were also great. I had to play on Level 1, but they still looked great.

Amazing work, Telltale!

Just played it and finished it. Of course since it was an episode it was short and I can't wait until the others come out. The way of moving him around by clicking and dragging the mouse was a bit difficult for me so I just opted for using the w,a,s,d keys and the mouse which was much easier. It wasn't a traditional point and click game if I played it that way but I don't care. The music was great, and the art was even better. It's definitely worthy of playing again. Oh, and the cursor at the start was going a little slow, fixed it with settings and lowering the graphics quality to about 1 or 2

WOW! Just finished it, yay! And I am NOT dissapointed; from the very beginning I got back that good feeling of swashbuckling adventure :D And the humor is just as good as ever. "I don't think a U Tube will be useful here" :D LOL!

Got really stuck in the doctor's office for a while; thought that if i kept feeding the monkey bananas, he'd eventually grow fond of me and fetch the key :o

* Install and play Launch of the Screaming Narwhal

or

* Install Steinberg Cubase 5, Native Instruments Komplete 5, hook up a KORE 2 controller and my MIDI keyboard and play with that stuff

As you can guess, the ~9 USD game won out over the ~1000 EUR other stuff... and it was so worth it... :D

Oh, snap. I was looking forward to play on my netbook but it seems that it does not work. I assume it's GPU issue because it starts, I get black block that I assume is game screen. It's not even centered. And here it stops, process turns into zombie and I have to kill it.

Well, maybe it's related to DirectX. I think I have to put my PC back together to enjoy some of the goodness. If someone was able to start TMI on standard netbook hardware (1GiB/1.6Ghz/Intel GPU) I'd love to hear from him!

Amazing game! Really good job!
From the music, the animation, the puzzles, the characters, the length (which was really impressive for a single chapter) and of course - the number of items (which was a lot better than some of sam&max's chapters, which had like 8 items at all...)
And the story of course, which really gives the feeling Monkey Island series should have!

*more stupid guybrush dialog...like it has been mentioned befor, you sometimes have the option to say 3 things but whatever you chose he says the same.....

*this is a Monkey Island game you working on, so dont make the following gmaes too easy, the difficulty was ok for part 1, but you have to make the game harder...you got the hint funktion, so there always will be a way to finish the game, make the game extrem Monkey^^

they closed it because they want it to become a public club. If they didn't those threads would become enormous big and difficult to read.

But it would be nice to have the private club back and only people who brought the game would have access. I loved the brainstorm thread for the first episode.

Why can't I just buy one episode? For Sam and Max I bought the first two eps and got one or two free on Steam because to be honest they didn't hold my attention. I didn't even finish one of the free ones. I'd prefer it if I could just kind of give the Monkey Island series a try rather than forking over the whole $30. I'll try the demo, of course, but it seems to defeat the purpose of having episodes.

You probably will be able to, just not right now:

With Wallace & Gromit we turned on individual episode purchases sometime between the first two episodes (or right when episode 2 came out). I don't know our exact plans but I wouldn't be surprised if something similar happens.

We also have often allowed customers to upgrade from a single episode to the full season for the difference in price -- $26. That also wouldn't surprise me!

The reason we haven't been having single episodes, full seasons, and upgrades available at launch for W&G and Tales of MI is because, especially for new faces not familiar with episodic gaming, it proved time and again to be amazingly confusing! People come expecting a "new Sam & Max game" or a "new Monkey Island" and then instead of seeing something which says "click here to buy your new Monkey Island!!!" they see "click here to buy chapter one." "already bought the game? click here to upgrade!" "get your full season pass here -- get all five episodes together for less!" and ... well, people were confused.

We used that model for three game series -- Sam & Max season one, Sam & Max season two, and Strong Bad -- and collected lots of data and ran surveys and talked to customers and figured out that, yes indeed, people preferred simplicity from the outset. So that's what we now offer, and expand it out as things clear up and become more comfortable.

Wow, the amount of discussion you miss out on by being a few days late is staggering. I'm just going to blindly put some of my impressions here.

Chuck the Plant! It feels good having this symbol of thaw between LucasArts and Telltale. That may sound silly under the circumstances, but with LA cutting the Sam & Max idol from the special edition I find this very reassuring.
The graphics are gorgeous. I was a bit worried if you could do it justice, but you rose to the challenge once again.
The music is great and captures the feel, which is obviously no surprise.
The closing in through the jungle when you leave the menu is very cool. Good work!
More than 4 save slots again! A small thing, but I'm glad to be rid of that annoyance.
You really got me with that wind vane. First I kept following the arrow and got nowhere (this was before I knew about the map). Then I asked the Voodoo Lady and wasted even more time by following the manatee and still getting nowhere. Good job.
I would have liked knowing about middle-mouse-button, F4 and M before my second playthrough..

Well, F4 is kinda non-obvious (though also quite non-essential IMHO), but the "M" key was only active in the press review release and caused all kinds of havoc, according to (IIRC) Jake.

And you didn't even press the middle mouse button accidentally once during the whole game? Wow. :D

Very nice game a part few glitches in the dialogs (like somebody said before...). The most annoying stuff is the control system; at least Telltale people should leave an option to use the classic point-and-click like sam and max, which is the best and most intuitive in my opinion.

Good job though, carry on like this!

I love Monkey Island. Thank you so much for finally giving us the fifth game inadvertently promised by the Voodoo Lady in 2000!

However, I'm new to this episodic gaming thing. I remember ads for the Sam & Max games on TV, but those were part of ads for Gametap. I'm glad to know I can just buy them from the developers and play them without a subscription to GT or some kind of special client.

The only disappointment is that the ole' graduation money pool is about dried up and I'm yet to hear back from any potential employers. If only I hadn't bought The Sims 3... Anyway, I was hoping I could just buy this chapter and buy the rest as they come out, when I can afford them. Do we have a tentative date on when this might happen?

I just want to congratulate Telltale for making absolutely wonderful adventure game. I was not the biggest fan of Sam&Max and Wallace&Gromit, however ToMI episode1 is amazing! Really beautiful graphics and animations, superb puzzles (not too difficult, not too easy and nicely twisted) great dialogs and humor and I even love the new mouse-only controlling system. It might even replace point&click on the throne of the best adventure-controlling mechanics.

I couldn't be more pleased. Not only is ToMI the best adventure that came out in years, I'd put it right there, up with CMI and waaaaay ahead of EMI.

Try checking at Steampowered.com

They have several of the TellTale games buy-able one episode at a time, and all it requires is that you download and install Steam (which is free).

No, that is not an exaggeration, It takes everything that made Monkey island, the series there of, great and improves upon them, the graphics are STUNNING, The Music is brilliant, the puzzles and script are CLASSIC Monkey island.

I'm not a big fan of the point and drag movement style, but it's still an amazing game. It's the best thing to hit the market in years.

I'm glad I replayed CMI and EfMI in preparation for it though, to give the brain the ol Tune up.

Hopefully The Special edition form lucas arts can tide me over to chapter 2.

oh BTW: Loved the Cliffhanger!

Well, my sister bought the full series, and I was definitely surprised by the quality of the first episode. So, so much better than the Sam and Max episodes I played - the puzzles were great (except for the last one where you had to get the hand into the tar, the first time clicking the map Guybrush just attempts to point rather than being knocked over) and the jokes were good. Love how using items together, even when wrong, still produces proper dialogue... using the doll on the altar and trying to dip things in tar were really funny. I still dislike the graphic style, and the voodoo lady's voice actor is a bit dodgy, but overall the game was brilliant.

That's wrong actually. You do get knocked to the floor the first time as well.

I just checked this, and it turns out you're right and I'm a moron with a bad memory. Sorry :o

Lol, I missed the first time as well, wasn't until I replayed and new the solution to the puzzle already that I realised why I should have known how to get the hand in the tar. So your not the only one :)

Yeah, finally had time to play it through today. I think it was great. Good controls too.

Due to one thing or another cropping up, I only managed to get started on playing it today. Well worth the wait! Some of the puzzles had me stumped for a while, but I got there in the end.

Really looking forward to the next episode now :)

Before i forget, nice work with the weather Jake!

On the gameplay trailer there was no fog/watery-wind, and you could see a calm and plain sea.
But in the actual game that foggy wind did a great job on setting the atmosphere of a storm all over the sea.

Well done!

This is irrelevant to the subject, but I adore your avatar, Ignatius!

All right, I'll try and be more relevant. At this point in time, I can only play this game on the Wii, so I will wait for the WiiWare version to come. Patiently. Yes.

Jake said that the episodes will probably start to be available individually around the time episode 2 is released.

Whoa, word-in-mouth disease! :) I said that's what we did with Wallace & Gromit. I don't know what folks plans are for Monkey. I don't do much web store work these days! Too busy working on the games...

I just finished it, and I must say bravo to TellTale! Thanks so much for picking up the flag and running with it! Dominic, it was great to hear your voice again in a new role! I hope you had as much fun with the lines as I did hearing them!

All in all, I must say I really enjoyed it. After playing a few of the Sam & Max games, I knew that TellTale was going to do the series justice! The art was great, voice-work was enjoyable, and the first story was good, although I felt it was a bit short. The wee bit of a puzzle at the end was a little anti-climactic, but it was good fun. I just wanted to play more! I think it was a nice way to ease back into the MI series.

Only cons I could say was that the mouse-control was a little quirky. Once I switched back to keyboard it felt fine, so thank you for leaving that as an option. I might not have read the instructions but is there a hot-key way to "examine" an object. It'd be great if there was a key for it, as having to drag the magnifying glass over to the item was kinda annoying.

Some of the sound sometimes broke up for me as well, plus there was a bit of stutter. This is on Vista/6GRam, CoreI7 920 and a Radeon X1900XTX, so that was a bit unexpected. It seems my comp had problems in the beginning cut scene, but it did smooth out after we got away from the waves.

Other than that, I had fun, and I can't wait for the next episode! Mahalos!

Using an newest-gen CPU and a 4 year old graphics card? Now that's just not right... :D

I am glad my kids can enjoy these games as I did. They are 8, 5, & 2 years old and they love MI. Thanks Telltale.

And you can also type "E" to examine objects in your inventory ;)
