View Full Version : Who wants to thank Telltale?
07/08/2009, 04:36 pm
Telltale thank you so much for making Monkey Island again
a game from my youth and secondly you made it so well i think i speak for a large ammount of the community by saying thank you.
post your thanks :D
07/08/2009, 04:40 pm
Thankyou Telltale, you literally made a dream come true!
07/08/2009, 04:41 pm
The outrage over point and click + 2d is getting on my nerves fast. This game was amazing and great.
07/08/2009, 04:44 pm
I DO TOO, i might been criticizing a few technical things but i love it that you guys brought back Monkey Island and in great quality (both visually and story)
(hopefully you bring back more Lucas Arts IP's to life ^^).
07/08/2009, 04:46 pm
thank you.. and gratz on a job well done.
07/08/2009, 04:46 pm
I was sort of sceptical when i installed this and looking at LeChuck for the first time, but boy, was i wrong!
This game was AWESOME and totally worth the small amount of money you pay to play it!
Thank you TellTale!
07/08/2009, 04:47 pm
Thank you Telltale!
I know many people were worried that Monkey Island could not be handled well except by Lucasarts (despite the fact that so many of your team members are Lucas alumni), but what you've made is truly great.
It was witty, well written, reasonably challenging without being frustrating, and left me eagerly anticipating the next episode.
07/08/2009, 04:48 pm
Thankyou everyone at Telltale!!
You're totally awesome. Yes, you.
07/08/2009, 04:49 pm
Thank you for breathing new life into the adventure genre, Telltale. Without you, it would still be on life support. It seems that you have brought a number of other companies around to your line of thought, too. Today Monkey Island, tomorrow... Day of the Tentacle?
07/08/2009, 04:51 pm
Don't think that all the people who cry about this or that not being perfect dislike you or your game. I for one love it. I just want it to be even better.
07/08/2009, 04:52 pm
Thank you Telltale peeps!
Keep 'em coming!
07/08/2009, 04:53 pm
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
Not only have you brought back a series that is dear to my heart and the hearts of many, but you have done so marvelously.
Keep up the great work.
07/08/2009, 05:11 pm
THANK YOU!!!! TMI was true awsomeness
07/08/2009, 05:12 pm
Thank you for continuing my favorite game franchise, one which I never thought would live on past its 2000 release, and handling it with such care and respect for the originals and fans!
Seems like some people will just complain about anything because they like to hear themselves complain... the audio was low quality, the controls are bad, I hate the dialogue, Guybrush's goatee is weird, blah blah blah! It's all nitpicking!
What matters is... MONKEY ISLAND IS BACK!!!
Thank you so much, Telltale!
Counting down the days to Chapter Two, now!
07/08/2009, 05:19 pm
thanks :) awesome fun times, can't wait for round two.
07/08/2009, 05:28 pm
I'm happy to say that I have no complaints! I probably enjoyed this episode just as much as the first part of Curse, my all-time fav! THANK YOU!
07/08/2009, 05:28 pm
Having been watching this forum for a while without participating, I've noticed that people will generally sign up to complain as opposed to sign up and congratulate. And when I realized my hypocrisy as I complained about people complaining; I signed up to congratulate...
I hope you guys at Telltale realize what a wonderful job you have done - to bring back a classic game series that I for one certainly farewelled the idea of ever seeing another incarnation.
Keep up the amazing work and I encourage other 'board stalkers' to sign up and fight like a cow for an amazing effort...
07/08/2009, 05:32 pm
Yeah its not bad for the first episodes, god knows alot of stuff can be improved and hopefully will :) be its a good start.
Just hope you can try and fit the games togther, so that when i wanna reply Monkey island, dont make me have to install and start 5 seperate games, make them go all togther in the same map, :)
07/08/2009, 05:33 pm
Thank you so much guys. You've done a great job, and I cna't wait to see what you'll come up with next.
07/08/2009, 05:48 pm
In July 1995 I spent a total of 20 hours sitting in front of a screen in my parent's attic, not able to focus on something else until LeChuck exploded in the final showdown of SoMI.
I was 14 years old then and you guys managed to make me feel nearly exactly the same again (except for it didnt take me 20 hours this time and perhaps I'm just not so easy to impress any more).
It really felt like Monkey Island. The best piece of adventure I played since...since...Grim Fandango I guess.
You guys are heroes to me ( I just wonder how it feels to work for all these years in this business and still to be so much linked to something, you started 20 years back...)
07/08/2009, 05:52 pm
Thanks you guys!
And while the critics have been vocal, I think the approval poll has something like 90% of the people thinking the game was either very good or outstanding. It's clear that you've made an excellent game, it fits perfectly with the Monkey Island series as a whole, and I can't wait to play the rest of it!
07/08/2009, 05:58 pm
Thanks Telltale, 2009 is already shaping up to be a good year for games and ToMI looks like its going to make it into one of the golden years
07/08/2009, 06:06 pm
Thank you Telltale, the series is in good hands. You guys are amazing. I hope you continue to push yourselves with this game.
07/08/2009, 06:10 pm
All I can say is, this was a great start and I can tell the series is going to be awesome.
07/08/2009, 06:12 pm
Thank you telltale! This was your best game yet, keep em coming!
07/08/2009, 06:14 pm
Thank you SO DAMN MUCH. I'm resisting the temptation to write something like "that was a worthy successor to Monkey Island" because it's not. It just is Monkey Island, plain and simple. I never thought we'd see the day.
07/08/2009, 06:15 pm
That.... was.... AWESOME! It was funny and compelling and I found myself thinking about the game when I wasn't even at my PC it certainly has re-kindled my love of Monkey Island and if my brother hasn't bought it already im going to buy it for him.
If the following episodes keep the high standard I will be amazed.
Great effort Telltale!
(but you still fight like a dairy farmer)
(Edit: I just completed the game by the way)
07/09/2009, 05:35 am
Holy monkey bladders- it's a Monkey Island game! THANKS, TTG!
07/09/2009, 05:36 am
07/09/2009, 05:46 am
Thank you TellTale for the wonderful gift that ToMI is.
07/09/2009, 05:47 am
07/09/2009, 05:49 am
I'm impressed, and so is everybody else.
07/09/2009, 05:51 am
Kudos on TOMI!
07/09/2009, 05:53 am
Thank you Telltale; thanks to you, both Monkey Island AND Wallace and Gromit are in good games once more!
07/09/2009, 05:54 am
Thank You, Thank You Telltale...
Your Monkey Island is wonderful!!!
07/09/2009, 05:58 am
Thanks a lot, wonderful game
07/09/2009, 05:58 am
Thanks also. Although i havent finished it yet cause i had to get a video card.. (let me tell you how hard that was to keep waiting for it to release, then get home after work and the screen is mostly black cause my onboard video card wouldnt show anything)
I love it though so far!
07/09/2009, 05:59 am
Thank you Telltale!
07/09/2009, 06:02 am
You are my heroes! I thought i was never going to play a MI again and was patiently waiting more news in 2015. It was awesome and now I am pulling my hair out for episode 2. Brings me back to waiting for MI 2: Lechuck's Revenge. It's been a long while since I laughed out load at a game. I want to play again just for dialog I missed.
07/09/2009, 06:06 am
Thank you Telltale for this great return of Monkey Island series!
07/09/2009, 06:16 am
I registered here for the sole reason of letting Telltale know how much I appreciate their effort with this game. I'll be honest that I had my doubts but you guys really delivered and I couldn't be more thrilled with Tales. Thank you so much!
07/09/2009, 06:17 am
Ooh me! me!
(I hope there are some Look Around You fans in here...)
07/09/2009, 06:18 am
Thank you for bringing my childhood back.
07/09/2009, 06:21 am
Truly an excellent game. You have managed to take a game that I and others hold close to our hearts and bring it into the 21st century while still remaining true to its roots. There will always be people on forums nit-picking because it doesn't play exactly like SoMI no matter what you do, but I think you did an excellent job and I'm looking forward to the next in the series. Thanks!
07/09/2009, 06:26 am
Vielen Dank, Leute!
07/09/2009, 06:28 am
07/09/2009, 07:20 am
07/09/2009, 07:25 am
thanks everybody involved.. I loved the game
Telltale, I can't thank you just for Tales of Monkey Island, but also for reviving the Sam & Max games. Both the Monkey Island series and Sam & Max: Hit the Road were childhood favorites, and to see them revived made me ecstatic with nostalgia. You've done a fantastic job on each and I look forward to many more installments!
07/09/2009, 07:39 am
fiftied, thanks Telltale, it was awesome :)
07/09/2009, 07:46 am
Great work - no complaints. I loved the first chapter, contained many more locations than expected. If the same goes for the next chapters, your price for the full set is a bargain.
07/09/2009, 07:51 am
Yes THANK YOU!
LOVED IT VERY VERY MUCH!
07/09/2009, 07:53 am
The best game you guys have made so far!!! Thank You!!
07/09/2009, 09:12 am
Thank you very much, vielen Dank, merci beaucoup, muchas gracias, mille grazie!!!
Please, go on like this.
07/09/2009, 09:14 am
Bananas from heaven! Thanks, Telltale Games!
07/09/2009, 09:18 am
Much thanks and love from here as well.
07/09/2009, 09:21 am
Thank you <3 Love the Monkey Island games :D
07/09/2009, 09:26 am
I was nervous after the trailer, but after playing the game for about 1 minute I had a big smile on my face.. The visual style was excellent! The 3D allowed for some sweeping cinematography and very impressive sight gags (mostly from Guybrush.. nailed a lot of of good facial expressions there). The voice acting was very well done, the timing of playing back the sound clips wasn't robotically timed. Puzzles were hard but not too hard! But most importantly, this is the only adventure game I've played in a long time where I've audibly laughed to myself multiple times while playing! I am SOO happy this game ended up being so over-all well done! I can't wait to play the next 4 bits! I kind of want to wait for them all to come out, and play one big Monkey Island game like the good old days... but I doubt I'll be able to hold myself back... :o) Thanks again Telltale!
07/09/2009, 09:27 am
Thanks Telltale! I have to admit, I was skeptical at first, but you guys actually brought Monkey Island back in style! Well done!
07/09/2009, 09:31 am
The 3D allowed for some sweeping cinematography and very impressive sight gags (mostly from Guybrush.. nailed a lot of of good facial expressions there).
actually i loved his facial expression. First time i saw a polygon character doing so many expression. Nice work telltales.
07/09/2009, 10:02 am
I know one extra comment probably won't make much difference, but yes, thank you so much! I had just about given up all hope on ever seeing another MI game. I lent MI3 to my (now wife) when we first met and she was instantly hooked. I started them as they came out on the C=64 (oh, the memories). It was literally just the beginning of this year that my wife and I were last discussing our sadness that such a great series would probably never come back. I haven't finished yet but I am absolutely impressed. Due to having a yound child and an infant (not to mention work), we have very little time to play and I promised my wife I would not play without her so it's gonna take a while to finish but that's okay with us. We were both laughing out loud as we played last night. I haven't laughed with a video game that much since MI went away. The MI style of humor is spot on!
I truly wish you guys the best of luck with this (as well as Lucas Arts) and I hope that it is successful enough to keep it going for years to come. I hope LA will continue the series as well (in addition to the remake), but I'd still be a happy monkey even if they didn't so long as you do.
I really can't say enough. You've made a lot of people very happy and I hope you find lots of "new" fans as well.
Maybe this came up somewhere else, but I am curious how this all started. Did LA decide to do the remake first, or did you decide to do episodes? If anyone has a link on the backstory to how this came back I'd love to read it.
07/09/2009, 10:18 am
As soon as I saw the Monkey Island title and heard the music after prologue, I knew this game had perfectly nailed the MI feeling. You really did an amazing job, thank you very much!
07/09/2009, 10:22 am
I guess i want to thank TTG for hammering LucasArts for giving them the franchise and make it happen but i also feel dissapointed by some of the shortcomings a Monkey Island in my opinion does not deserve, like the poor steering and the missing localisations, at least on a Wallace&Grommit level. In these respects the game feels rushed, which it doesn't deserve, considering the status this game has for adventure gamers.
07/09/2009, 12:10 pm
I too want to send my thanks to the Telltale staffers. To see a new Monkey Island title is something I never really expected.
07/09/2009, 12:13 pm
Thank you Telltale for bringing back when of the greatest franchises of all time. I look forward to all your future work! :D
07/09/2009, 12:13 pm
Thank you! The best game you've made so far, in my opinion. Keep it up, can't wait for the next one! :)
07/09/2009, 12:15 pm
Thanks Telltale, you're the best! :D
07/09/2009, 12:17 pm
Thank you very much tell tale!!
For the return of Sam, Max and that loveable crew of Pirates
07/09/2009, 12:19 pm
Thank you, Telltale! Keep up the good work! Adventure games live on thanks to you!
07/09/2009, 12:24 pm
I'm impressed with this quality game, if the rest of the episodes are this good this game could become a classic. Keep up the good work!
07/09/2009, 12:37 pm
I wanna thanks to!:)
Funny I talked about MI series for a couple of mounths ago, and then they´re
really releases a new game! Jippi, way to go!;)
Love Guybrush Threepwood!:)
07/09/2009, 12:42 pm
Thank you so much guys.
I'm absolutely glad I pre-ordered. I'll do the same thing on the future Monkey Islands as well if there's any. (And I pray to god there will be, as an athiest)
07/09/2009, 12:51 pm
Thank you TellTale for making an awesome adventure game!
The quality was really excellent, and you way surpassed my expectations with this game.
Good show. :)
07/09/2009, 12:58 pm
Thank you Telltale for your best game yet, and, of course, all of your other games too! You are absolutely brilliant, keep up the awesome work! :)
07/09/2009, 01:03 pm
Thank you, Telltale! You rock!
Once I got into the controls and everything, this was such an awesome new game play experience! I want more!! I really can't wait for the other chapters to come out! Actually, I'll be off on vacation for the next 3 or 4 weeks, so I'll have something to look forward to when I get back home! ;)
Thank you for being true to Monkey Island and for making this awesome experience possible!
THANK YOU! :)
07/09/2009, 01:04 pm
Telltale+Monkey Island+Dominic Armato= wOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOt!!!!!!!

I adored the game and am eagerly awaiting the next episode.
I never ever thought that I would see another new monkey island game and so I for one are thrilled to bits.
07/09/2009, 01:11 pm
We had to wait 9 years but this game is well worth the wait ! 1 month ago I couldn't have imagined another MI would be released one day and now... This is just great, the humour, the story, the voices, the characters... it's just like it used to be !
Thanks so much from France !
Can't wait for episode 2 and... please, do Day Of the Tentacle !!!!
07/09/2009, 01:13 pm
Cheers Telltale, you're amazing!
07/09/2009, 01:39 pm
Thanks Telltale you've brought back my favorite game series in the best way possible :D
07/09/2009, 01:43 pm
07/09/2009, 01:44 pm
Thank you telltale!
I am enjoying tomi immensly!
07/09/2009, 02:05 pm
By making Tales of Monkey Island, Telltale has brought a childhood gamer of the original Monkey Island series out of 'retirement'. I'm sure I'm not the only one.
I'll be sure to purchase other adventure game titles you make in the future. Thanks!
07/09/2009, 02:17 pm
Thanks so much telltale!
07/09/2009, 02:47 pm
Thank you for bringing my favourite computer game (series) back in such a great way. You have done a wonderful job! :)
07/09/2009, 02:50 pm
Thanks guys, had great fun. Brought back some memories.
Would love to thank telltale for this fantastic game. And also would like to apoligise for the horrible comments some people left.
Really loved the graphics. Guybrush looked like he'd grown up a bit, which is what you'd expect, but he hasn't lost his innocence, had so much fun, so many laughs playing the games, im actually going to play the rest of tell tale when i get paid :D
07/09/2009, 03:20 pm
Thanks Telltale, after Sam & Max, Monkey Island was always a close second, and now both are back!
07/09/2009, 03:59 pm
Great to see Monkey Island back again, and Telltale did a fantastic job with the game. Really looking forward to the remaining episodes, and hopefully another season too! Thank you to all concerned. :)
07/09/2009, 04:01 pm
Thank You Telltale for all you have done for the fans of many classic games.
07/09/2009, 04:02 pm
TELLTALE ROCKS! POWER TO THEM! SAY IT WITH ME: MONKEY ISLAND, MONKEY ISLAND MONKEY ISLAND, wHHHOOOOOOO!
07/09/2009, 04:11 pm
Thank you Telltale, for existing! I will hand over my hard-earned cash to you guys any day, because your games have brought me so much freaking joy over the past couple of years.
In fact I may buy Wallace and Grommit just to support you, even though I'm not a W&G fan.
07/09/2009, 04:56 pm
You guys made my life complete with a new Monkey Island. Thank you all for the hard work that's been going on in the series so far!
07/09/2009, 06:12 pm
wow this topic exploded over night :D good to see
07/09/2009, 06:16 pm
Thank you so much for bringing back my favourite game series of all time back, thank you so much
07/09/2009, 06:23 pm
With all the titles across multiple platforms being released and leaving me feeling kinda jaded and bored, gaming took a backseat for me until this little gem came along!.
Secret of MI is to this day one of my favorite games and Tales revived many of those happy childhood memories. I think the only thing that could top this would be a Grim Fandango sequel ...
Great job Telltale team, and keep em coming (really, don't ever stop!!)
07/09/2009, 07:36 pm
Thanks a bunch Telltale! I've been a fan since SBCG4AP, but this game seems to have made you guys into Rock Stars, and for good reason: it's a game that pays tribute to its predecessors because it's up there with its predecessors!
And to the heretofore naysayers and skeptics, this is why one should not judge until one plays the game. I'm glad to say I told you so. ;)
07/09/2009, 08:34 pm
Thanks you SO MUCH Telltale Games for doing a new Monkey Island game, You made a lot of people incedible happy out there and this is just great.
Again, thank you so much! :)
07/09/2009, 08:59 pm
After already given up all hope on this, you released it out of the blue. Thank you Telltale Games, this new Monkey Island awakened the pirate within me once again and also my intrest for adventure games.
Hopefully you can satisfy all those content hungry fans out there, even for a little while! As for me, Im gonna check out your other titles while waiting! :)
07/09/2009, 09:05 pm
07/09/2009, 11:12 pm
ToMI isn't just an attempt at emulating a Monkey Island game, it's the real deal. The series couldn't be in better hands!
07/09/2009, 11:24 pm
I'd also like to add my thanks - great job guys! Can't wait for the next ones.
07/09/2009, 11:34 pm
let me add my thanks too..and I haven't even played it yet as a result of being in the US on business this week. However, I have seen it load up on my laptop (thanks to my g/f who sent me an MMS of it)...and can't wait to get home and play....it will bring back memories that may well bring tears to my eyes.
07/09/2009, 11:38 pm
thank you so very much! TTG rules.
ToMI is amazing, everyones pumped for ch2. especially me xD
07/10/2009, 03:40 am
Great job Telltale!
You have proven, again, that you have the craft to bring the adventure game genre back to us with the same quality of story, charcters, and humor that made them memorable to begin with.
Games may have technologically progressed over the years but your characters and stories have and will continue to resonate with us beyond particle effects and pixel shaders.
07/10/2009, 04:07 am
Thank you very much Telltale for reviving one of the greatest adventure game series out there (and doing it amazingly well too).
GIEV chapter 2! :D
07/10/2009, 01:07 pm
Thank you, of course!
07/10/2009, 01:49 pm
Thank you so much to everyone at Telltale! You've brought back the Monkeys and I am grateful :)
Looking forward to hopefully many more of these Tales :)
07/10/2009, 01:55 pm
Thanks, Telltale, for making this game. :)
Please make the rest of them harder. :p
07/10/2009, 01:58 pm
Thank you, Telltale, for making us laugh about piracy, again. And masochistic monkeys.
07/10/2009, 02:02 pm
07/10/2009, 04:11 pm
Vielen Dank, thank you, arigatou gozaimasu, gracias, merci and so on to all you beautiful people at Telltale. We are blinded by your awesomeness and humbled by your adventure making skills. Keep up the good work!
07/10/2009, 04:16 pm
Thanks for the awesome game! It made me want to go back and play them all over again so I wouldn't miss any future references.
07/10/2009, 04:47 pm
Thanks so much for bringing this beloved classic back to us, for doing it right, and hopefully reinvigorating the Adventure Game genre in the process!!
07/10/2009, 05:00 pm
I loved it! Thanks for putting great effort into a wonderful revamp of an old title.
07/10/2009, 06:14 pm
Thanks Telltale for making a great looking and feeling game. I look forward to playing the rest of the episodes, as there's some very wonderful stuff in the first one.
I must add, your company has gotten me super excited not once, not twice but thrice times excited about the franchises you've taken on. First it was all like, Sam & Max are finally coming back?! OMG, then it got intense when you released Wallace and Gromit, but what really set me over the top was Monkey Island. True, Sam & Max season 1 and 2 didn't excite me half way through the series, but I love where TMI is going.
Keep up the fantastic work!
07/10/2009, 08:49 pm
Very happy with this game, I am happy Telltale is out there!
07/10/2009, 09:01 pm
I think we all owe a big thank you to the people at Telltale for reviving the series for us. Whether or not you like the game, this company is single handedly bringing back adventure games for us!!!
I have longed for the day that I would hear the word that a new Monkey Island was coming and when I did I nearly peed in my pants. Yea sure some of you may have gripes with the 3D graphics....but all in all the Monkey Island feeling is there.....you guys maintained the soul of the series!!!!
Thank you a thousand times over!!!!
Please keep making them!!!!
07/10/2009, 09:41 pm
Yes, Great job on that, it was a blast playing it, and i am looking forward to the other installments! Maybe this is paving the way for a new full fledged monkey island game! :)
07/10/2009, 10:29 pm
Thanks a heap for carrying on the series with perfection TTG!
07/11/2009, 12:35 am
It's great, funny, awesome... though I may not get every joke but there were many. Thanks for the entertaining revival of Monkey Island.
07/11/2009, 01:47 am
Just thank you.
07/11/2009, 02:19 am
Thank you for bringing back another classic! I actually LOL'd while playing.
07/11/2009, 04:09 am
You guys did a great job with the first episode, kudos everyone involved in the project for that!
I enjoyed every minute of the adventure, the humor is spot on and the puzzles are very well conceived and executed (I just hope difficulty will gradually increase over the next chapters).
Also the writing and voicing in my opinion is just great. I am one of the not so many italians who have a good grasp of English...This is because teaching a foreign language wasn't so much of a priority in our education system back then. It still isn't, but it's a bit better now.
I am 30 and I started loving and improving my English since I was 12 thanks to playing Maniac Mansion on the C64 back in the day. I used to play it with my joystick in one hand and my trusty dictionary in the other! If I hadn't had this love in computer gaming where would i be now?!
Anyway, my only reasons of concern with ToMI were some random crashes and graphical glitches apparently due to the game not liking my old Radeon 9600 Pro drivers...I had to revert back to an older release in order to play the game without major issues!

Yes, just wanted to add my 'hurrays' to this thread. I finished then episode this am and Telltale have done a very good job so far, I think. The LeSinge surgery puzzle was particularly good. My only problem is having to wait for the next instalment...
