I still don't know how to apply my code in the e-mail for a free episode of one of the Telltale Games.

You do have a single episode in your cart, right? Not a full season or upgrade?

Check if you have the email with the subject: "Confirmation for Telltale Games order 6000189XXXXXXXX"
If yes, look at the content and you should see the following:
Your Order ID: 6000189XXXXXXXX
Total Cost: $34.95
The stuff in your order includes:
• Tales of Monkey Island
Your Serial Number for Tales of Monkey Island:
MIXXX-XXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX
$34.95 has been collected from the payment method you selected. You can review your purchase history at any time by logging in to your My Telltale page. (To get to this page later, go to Telltale's website, click on "Settings" (the gear icon), and then "Past Purchases".)
Avast, ye scurvy sea-dogs and welcome to the motley crew of the good ship Pre-Order. I'll wager you've got booty on your mangy minds and we here at Telltale don't aim to disappoint you on that score. So lend me your pox-ridden ears and I'll tell you a tale of king's ransom in ill-begotten goods and services that be setting sail in your direction even as we speak!
1.) A Secret Forum! (Pirates Only): Trade bawdy tales of game-development mayhem with Telltale's nefarious crew! Abandon all hope, ye who ENTER HERE.
2.) A Free Game (Choose your Poison): Why ye would be wantin' to play a game without pirates, I surely cannot fathom, aside from the fact that it won't cost you a doubloon. Use the coupon code to get a free episode of your choice from the Telltale store:
Your Code:
XXXX-XXX-XXX-XX
3.) A Limited-Edition Slipcase (Where ye can dock yon DVD): Monkey Island's original cover artist, "Salty Steve" Purcell is toiling away in the the brig on this one, so you'll have to wait until the end of the season before claiming your prize!
Your code under 2 is the redeemable coupon code for the free game.

@Rather Dashing: I've just bought Tales of Monkey Island on last Monday.
@smashing: I received that kind of e-mail, yes. I do have this code, which i just have to apply - but i can do whatever i want. I typed it in already -- nothing happened. My Firefox just "refreshes" a couple of seconds, with no effect.
I don't have any solution for that problem.. :-(

I don't think you understand what I'm asking.
Basically, you can choose any episode of any other series you want. So what you have to do is add an episode of another series(Bone, Sam and Max, Strong Bad, or Wallace and Gromit) and add it to your cart.
When you go to check-out with that single episode in your cart, you can use the coupon code to drop the price of the episode to $0.00.

So basically, I didn't save the email so I don't have the code but if I make two transactions out of it and buy TOMI first for $34.95 I will get a code in that transaction that I can use in a second transaction to get the first episode of WG (my choice)? The front home page makes no mention of needing a coupon--why not print the coupon number to use there and be done with it??

My understanding is that the coupon number is unique to each purchase and is not locked to the account that obtained it. This allows people who already own all of TTG games and those who do not wish to obtain any other titles, to give the code to a friend as a gift. (I could be wrong, but I'm sure I remember reading people posting that they let a friend use their code.)
