Episode 4 Town Center

I have to be missing something obvious here.

I've gone through the part were I take the letter off the crate (though its not in my inventory) and I get the nut-butter. I've also pasted the picture of Wallace on the Golf magazine, but after this I am stuck. I've looked at a walkthrough that says I should be able to leave to go back home at this point but it does not let me. I have to be missing something. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you convinced Mr. Paneer already that Constable Dibbins is not the best choice as a new member for the golf club? - Before you do that, Mr. Paneer will not pick up the modified golf magazine.

Here is how to manipulate Mr. Paneer:
Hint 1: Convince the Constable to shut down Paneer's shop
Hint 2: A sign on the door of another shop gives you a clue what would make him do that.
Hint 3: You need to contaminate the shop with vermin.
Hint 4: The squirrel would do that job. Try to catch it.
Solution: Put the nut-butter on the feeding tray. When the squirrel gets in, get the nut-butter and place it on the boxes outside Paneer's shop.

I have not done any of that, but Mr. Paneer has still picked up the modified golf magazine.

Wow, I feel like an idiot.

Apparently the way in which I get back home wasn't clear enough for my small brain. I got it now.
