Foreshadowing in MI2?
Ok, so I've actually had this on my mind for a long time, but this is the first time I've actually written about it. When LeChuck appears during Guybrush's dream on Booty Island in MI2, he is wearing a blue jacket instead of the red one he wears at every other point in the game. I think that he is wearing a blue jacket, much like Guybrush is, to indicate that Guybrush and LeChuck have more in common than Guybrush knows, ie they have the same blood (brothers.) Does anyone think that LeChuck's blue jacket in the dream sequence is meant to foreshadow the revelation that the two are brothers, or is there another reason, such as a possible flaw in the original technology?

I thought it just was so he wouldn't blend in with the red background.
|
I thought it was LeChuck's Magical Mind Rape Coat(TM).

It is just so that he doesn't disappear into the background. But, by all means, read some symbolism into it if you really want to. xD

Yup, trying to implement any kind of color symbolism is probably least on the designer's mind when he has to create an attractive, atmospheric and readable color composition in a rather limited color environment. ;)

Well, that's my theory, anyway. xD [/also took a drawing/art class earlier this year] |

I doubt its the foreshadowing thing. Most likely he is wearing a blue jacket because that's how Guybrush remembered him as looking from the first game

You don't have to be so terse with me for daring to speak up, too. That'll sure teach me for actually trying to socialise with fellow fans once in a while. :\ |
D'awwww, don't interpret my comment as "terse". It's just my attempt at being a tedious know-it-all, and also, my excitement to find someone who is actually interested in these topics. And thirdly, because I have read James Gurney's book three times and just plain want to tell everyone. ;)
edit: Also, it seems I misused the verb "tainted". Just checked my dictionaries... I think what I wanted to express was more like "flawed"... |
