I got a strange feeling that his wife was killed along with senator Zaxby.

What about Clems dad, in episode one when you move the desk, Clem says she sure her dad would know about what is causing the walkers etc, so maybe he's a scientist or high up in the military/government?

Clem also says in that same scene that her father is a engineer.
