Dealing with the bitten

Since there's been many mercy choices thorought the game, I wanted to know what other people did.

Ghositex 12/09/2012 07:17 am

Gave Irenne the gun, because we would have to shoot her anyways (cleaning the Motor Inn). Why not let her die without turning? Shot Beatrice, because I'd like someone to do the same if i were about to get nomnomnom'ed by zombies; Clementine shot me.

CharmingBirch 12/09/2012 07:37 am

I didn't give Irene the gun.

I left the girl on the street because, let's face it, I didn't want the extra attention and Kenny was 100% right in his suggestion. Still don't know what happens when you do shoot her, but I imagine things are a bit more difficult.

I shot Duck.

I had Clem shoot me, and I didn't hesitate for a minute. I guess I'm in the minority by thinking leaving Lee and/or watching him turn into a walker would be MORE traumatizing than shooting him. She says so many times throughout the game, "Please don't become one of them", that shooting him would at least give her some kind of peace. Especially when you choose "Don't be afraid" as your last words. Just drives the point home to me.

Arbitrator 12/09/2012 07:48 am

Gave Irene the gun.

Shot the girl in the street. Yeah, it would draw attention but... THOSE SCREAMS, man.
I shot Duck. Making Kenny do it would tip the man over the edge.

Had Clem shoot me. I doubt she'd be able to shake the knowledge Lee was chained in some cellar as a zombie. long-term it was best.

You have less time to collect stuff from the chemist. It is possible to collect enough that you still get "You collected a lot of stuff" and the "This will see us through the winter" line from Lilly.

That1Guy 12/09/2012 07:53 am

Wow, excluding the Duck and Lee choice this is pretty damn even.

QuarterPounderVlad 12/09/2012 08:11 am

Didn't give Irene the gun, Left the girl (Beatrice, was it?)
Shot duck myself, Clem shot Lee.

MuffinMansBro 12/09/2012 08:33 am

Gave Irene the gun

Shot Beatrice (I probably would have left her if Kenny didn't make it sound like such an asshole thing to do)

Shot Duck myself

Clem shot me.

Kaserkin 12/09/2012 08:42 am

Not in my group? Not wasting bullets, sorry. :p

Zeruis 12/09/2012 09:21 am

-Didn't give Irene the gun.
-Left the woman on the street.
-Shot Duck myself.
-Told Clem to leave me.

I gave Irene the gun, shot the girl in the street, shot Duck and had Clementine shoot Lee. Also I killed the boy in the attic.

Always think the nicest thing to do is kill someone who is bitten. Hardest decision to make out of all of those was the girl in the street, actually. Thought putting her out of her misery was a much nicer thing to do.

StarvingHobo 12/09/2012 09:39 am

I tried to play true to what my real life actions would be, but it's hard to do... In real life NO WAY would Irene get the gun, she was so high strung, imagine she just turned psycho like "F*** IT ALL!!!!!" and shot us all before topping herself... Or maybe she'd turn whilst holding the gun and then it might be hard to get back (I forget if anyone else had a gun at the time)...

Also I would have probably let myself become a walker rather than getting shot in the head, just on the off chance I somehow managed to survive (fuck knows how, but headshot = NOPE)...

I should really do a truthful playthrough next time. Funny 'cause I totally would have made everyone else do the dangerous stuff even bitten. I'd be all "lol you guys walk across the rickety sign I have one arm!"...

Gave Irene the gun.

Left the girl - she was dead anyway and I needed the distraction.

Shot duck.

Had Clem shoot Lee.

Irene, Duck, and Lee were dead anyway and you could have saved the bullets :P

Robbingrobin 12/09/2012 11:42 am

Ghositex is right.

Rock114 12/09/2012 01:30 pm

Gave her the gun

Shot the girl

Shot Duck

Had Clem shoot Lee. The world has enough walkers in it already.

I didn't need them for a distraction.

Besides, I made an effort to "save" Irene. Leaving her after that would have been cruel.

Duck was part of the team.

And Clem needed to learn how to put down "friends" - Lee's death was a sacrifice to improve her chances of survival.

"The Girl" - letting her die bloody gave me a chance to help feed my people. Sucked to be her. Wrong place, wrong time.

Irene: Didn't give her the gun. This is still one of the early days in the apocalypse. From Lee's perspective, he didn't want people to give up already. He didn't fully understand the infection, and wasn't ready at that point to give someone a gun to end their life.

Beatrice: Left her in the street. An awful act, but she was bitten and I had to think about everyone back at the motel. If I shot her, that would instantly draw all the walkers in Macon on me and Kenny while we tried to get supplies.

Duck: I shot him. By this point, Lee understands what is going on in the world. They can't just leave the little boy to become a walker, and he wasn't going to make one of the kid's parents do it.

Lee: Clementine shot him. Personally, I think it'd be more emotionally devastating for Clem to leave knowing that Lee was going to come back as one of the walkers, especially after just having seen her parents in the street as walkers.

Mornai 12/11/2012 07:33 am

Didn't give Irene the gun. - I wouldn't let her give up... plus it was still early in the apocalypse. I wouldn't change my decision now either.

Shot the girl in the street. - Losing morality for survival means one step closer to becoming the next St. Johns/Crawford/Bandits, and i refuse to let that happen.

Shot Duck. - No parent should have to kill their own child.

Clem shot Lee. - Becoming a walker is a fate worse than death, and one that Lee shouldn't have to go through.

The difference in the first and last decisions for me are how it happens. Killing yourself so you won't turn just feels wrong to me...
