Why are comments disabled in the TTG blog? ("Blogs" section in this site)

I just noticed that the latest half a dozen blog posts have all 0 comments, which I thought it's very odd as every blog post in the past had lots of comments. So I've checked it out and I've effectively found out that there is no comments section anymore. Why is that?

Ribs 12/09/2012 04:04 pm

Because a considerable portion of the people who were posting were being generally horrible people and rude in far too many ways.

Giant Tope 12/09/2012 04:31 pm

Yeah, so basically people are assholes

Nintendo Boy1 12/09/2012 04:53 pm

Oh, I just figured the posting slowed down now that people won't have to bitch about a next episode. To be fair, I stopped looking reading the comments once Episode 3 and 4 were spoiled for me because of it.

People on the comments were posting tons of complaints about games in posts about other games. Posts were insulting Telltale and its staff, and posts were insulting other members of the community. Some posts even went so far as to impersonate other people since the comments didn't require registration. In a nutshell, people were really abusing the ability to post comments, so the comments were taken down.

If anyone wants an example of this.

There should be a system where the balls of the poster are removed, and if the post happens to be not-cruddy, they get their balls back.

GaryCXJk 12/10/2012 05:58 am

The GOTY version could just have an animation with A.J. Locascio pointing towards the screen with a Woody Woodpecker laugh, exclaiming "Tricked you into purchasing the GOTY edition!"

Most of the aggressive posters on the blog did not even use the relative anonymity of their forum name, but instead chose to use full anonymity by not registering at all. So you could say those balls never existed in the first place, and what can't be taken can't be given back eventually. :D

I guess that until the new site is up, which changes blog comments considerably, the option to comment won't return. Which isn't really a loss at all. It's not as if people were discussing the respective blog entry anyway. :( :(

To be perfectly honest, I forgot we had a blog to look at.

And there's not even a blog about the VGAs!

There a new site on the way? Ô_o

Darth Marsden 12/10/2012 02:18 pm

Did you not know this? Huh.

I wouldn't get your hopes up, it's been in development since 2010, if memory serves.

Darth Marsden 12/10/2012 02:25 pm

One of the perks I got when becoming a mod was to actually get a chance to see the new site. It does exist.

Are you sure you just didn't have a near-death experience due to extreme amounts of radiation, moving forward and glimpsing this "heaven" and assuming it to be an alternate universe where everything's turned out alright as opposed to the purgatory it truly is?

Darth Marsden 12/10/2012 02:36 pm

Pretty sure. Heaven would have a 'view most recent post in thread' option.

The blog's been pretty sparse lately. Probably because Alan left a while ago and Telltale didn't get a new community manager until very recently.

On top of that, in an age with Facebook and Twitter (not to mention how Telltale's been getting more and more coverage by gaming journalists), the blog's probably not the best way for Telltale to deliver news anymore.

Zeruis 12/10/2012 03:21 pm

I was kind of miffed about this. Would have been nice to get a say in the nomination blog posts for TWD, but I can see why TT disabled comments.

Trenchfoot 12/10/2012 04:54 pm

Alan left?!

Sorry, I haven't been visiting the site much lately. What happened?

WarpSpeed 12/10/2012 05:01 pm

From the perspective of we normal users, Alan just disappeared one day, no reason why. We were without a community lead for a while, but Puzzlebox is now in charge. We'll see what she can piece together.
